Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I wish I had some experience with alternative energy. Back in the late 1990's I was waiting for GE to come out with a residential fuel cell that they touted as being available within the next couple of years (it could run off natural gas) however it never came to fruition. I've been looking into this freewatt system which utilizes feedback loops to be more efficient but it's expensive and not totally available yet (I use oil heat and I'm very worried about this winter).
What excites you about this campaign?
I like Mr. Pickens' ideas and his attitude. Like him, I feel that transfer of wealth, national security, and economic issues are paramount while environmentalism is definitely page 2 (we can't be a leader in helping clean up the environment if we're no longer an economic leader). Hopefully the campaign will garner more support in the media because I suspect most people still don't know about it.
What do you want to do to help?
I'm a software engineer, if the organization has need of my services they can contact me at my profiles' email address. Aside from that, I'd be happy to spread the word amongst my family, friends and acquaintances. In addition, I live near New Hampshire/Vermont and I can tell you that the mid to upper parts of those states have enough wind to power most of New England.

Hi all,

I'm still here. I've just been looking for a job! Things are getting very tight here in Massachusetts (and I suspect everywhere). I wrote a note on our congressman's website regarding our state senators (Kennedy and Kerry). I don't know how much support either senator will show towards the Pickens Plan due to the bad blood between Boone and Senator Kerry. I asked congressman Tierney to try to influence Senator Kerry regarding this matter (and to put aside lingering resentments). Congressman Tierney wrote back that he had communicated this to Senators Kennedy and Kerry and that they should support the Pickens Plan. I'm now sending him another message to support the useful part of the stimulus plan. However, I must tell you all that I'm not a big fan of this plan.

Hi David
My name is Jim Barrus and I am from Springfield, Massachusetts.
I am starting, with help from Dennis Scott, the ENERGY PARTY for MASSACHUSETTS, as part of the Pickens Plan, a state group.
As you are a member of a district in Massachusetts I hope you will join me so we can become a combined voice for alternative fuel to Congress and Federal officials as well as to state officials

Here is a link on the web site for US Department of Energy - Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, for the ENERGY PARTY for MASSACHUSETTS and for the ENERGY PARTY

This page is for Massachusetts but all states can be checked. It is not just a list of other types of energy that can be used in Massachusetts but it discusses them and the kinds of solar collectors.
Check the sites the links go to. There is a lot of information there.

Below is Dennis Scott's statement about the ENERGY PARTY and what we plan on doing.

Jim Barrus

We started the ENERGY PARTY on the Pickens Plan page in October. Our group became the most active and fastest growing group on the PP. We grew so fast that T. Booneʼs son Mike Pickens noticed us and joined our group two weeks before Christmas. We have more than doubled in size since he joined and this brings me to what I want to talk to you about.

Our members from all over this great country wanted me to start groups for their states. I stared a discussion topic in the ENERGY PARTY group Sunday 1/04/09 asking if anyone from any state would be interested in managing a group for their state. As of today 1/08/09 we have started 10 state groups and I have 3 more to start today. We should have at least 25 started by Saturday 1/10/09 and I hope all by the end of the next week. If you have friends in other states let them know20about our movement

The ENERGY PARTY has become a magnet for like minded people that looked for that change always promised every election, but can never find after the winners have been announced. That mythical legend of change that will fall like manna from heaven only if a politician is elected and more so re-elected, and so stealthily eludes us after the election.

I believe in Booneʼs plan of energy independence and support him 110% and our group is here if and when he needs us during the first 100 days of congress. We will stand with him in his attempt to be partisan in his efforts to sway congress to the fact that our country desperately needs a funded energy program to survive in the future. We have taken it upon ourselves to plan ahead in case he fails. I shouldnʼt say he fails, I mean if congress refuses to see the need for a funded energy policy that is a cure not a band aid.

Let us wait to see what they plan and what T. Boone can accomplish in the Lions Den (Washington). I pray for Boone and our efforts to succeed and for us to get back on track with energy and the economy. This time though I am planning ahead, fool me once shame on them, fool me twice shame on me, and I am ashamed. Fool me three times, not without a fight.

Planning ahead Will not hurt us, not planning at all will. Lets watch and w ait then pounce if we see the need. A charismatic financially viable leader like Ross Perot in 1992 will emerge as we gain in numbers. 2009 is our year to grow with your help. Will it be another billionaire from Texas? I donʼt know.

Mike Pickens and I agree that this is not an attempt to find a presidential candidate at all. History shows us when a 3rd party aims for the White House they fail and we take two or three steps back and stumble to the ground becoming comical fodder for the media. This is to push the Pickens Plan and encourage people to run for congress as a 3rd party candidate in 2010

Gas and diesel will go up again because of OPEC and the fact that the 111th congress is already planning a gas tax.

Happy New Year David!

I hope you are still here, you were one of the first folks I met way back in July, when we were just a little tadpole. We have come so far.... hope you can help turn us into a shark!

Our new Congress is sworn in less than 10 days from now - they must be told loudly and clearly that we demand action to reduce our dependance on foreign oil!

WE CAN DO THIS. We need your help. THERE IS NO INFLUENCE WITHOUT NUMBERS!

Please watch the latest amazing "Boone Cam" recap:
http://media.pickensplan.com/downloads/PP/pollingsignupsheet.pdf

Please download the petition, get them filled in and fax them back fast. If all of us do this small thing we can build this effort to millions!

Best and Happiest!
Kim

YOu once asked me "what good are shear numbers?..." I hope you see the power our numbers have had,, as well as the potential as we keep building this grass roots effort across our country. Petitions are truly the best and fastest way to build... will you help? Don't give up on this, we all can pitch in and make this a reality!

Hi David

The clock is ticking. Both Thomas Freidman and The Gang of 20 have told us (see DAILY PICKENS) the only way to change America's energy policy is to build this historical, grass roots effort to un-ignorable heights. There are less than 75 days until Inauguration Day. We must concentrate on the job at hand. CAN YOU GET 10 signed pledges faxed in asap? Many hands make light work.

PLEASE,
Kim

Hi David

I have found that petitons are the best way to spread the word AND sign up supporters.

Here is HOW TO TURN THE PLEDGE INTO A PETITION!

I find it easiest to take one pledge, cut off Boone's lines under the pledge and add a sheet of lined paper under the pledge instead. I put NAME - ADDRESS - EMAIL across the top and fill in the first line to set the format. Most are more willing to sign where others have already done so, rather than the single pledge at a time approach. Everyone understands a petition.
I ask if they would "sign this petition in support of T, Boone Pickens energy plan to get us off of foreign oil?" Hand them the clipboard so they can read it. I do not require the signers to give me their email if they are reticent - don't let that be a deal breaker - some just do not want to give it.

Check out the 100CLUB group page to see how others have accomplished the task. (it is the first goup on my page) When you send/fax in 100, let me know, we will gladlyinvite you to be a member of the 100CLUB. Your leadership on this will inspire thousands!

There are over 150 people in the pledge challenge that I know of right now. Surely, there are many more that I am unaware of, as it is in many greetings. Those 150 willl bring 15,000 new members. If each brings just 5 friends, these 150 will be responsible for 75,000 new members.

This is the approach that works best for me - I tried many. Hopefully, this will encourage you to take the challenge, too. CAN YOU HELP?

When will we ever have a golden opportunity like this again?

Hi David

Great ideas. Some of the most successful events have been flea markets and Energy/Green events and fairs, that folks have attended. Just have a sign so they come to you! Have a second set of hands to make sure you get all the pledges signed that you possibly can. Pass out flyers with the website. Good luck! Thanks for going the extra mile. Wish we had more Davids!

Morning David!

Look forward to hearing how it is going with the pledge push. Please stop by Karen Nardella's page and congratulate her on being invited to join the 100CLUB today - WOW. Karen is also planning a Columbus Day Pickens Plan/Energy Party at her business in NH. Send your friends. We have over 85 folks in the challenge now- looking for more!

Best to you!

Dear David:

The problem with organizing meetings with Menino and Kerry is that they all talk a good game regarding renewable energy but they have done nothing substantial to date. The "theme" of the Roslindale Day Parade is "Roslindale Goes Green", but it is empty like the promises of so many of our public officials. If they see thirty or forty people on the street next Sunday pushing the issue, they might start to take the issue seriously. I have been involved in Democratic Party politics in Massachusetts for over twenty years, and it always seems as if the squeaky wheel gets the grease. :-)

Hi David
I have asked that we get an updated list and a permanent one on the site for all of us to work off of.

Just put a pledge in front of them and have them sign it. MUCH easier than trying to get them to join online.

Hi David
NICE! Thanks for the update. I passed it on to make sure it is a part of the master list. I have asked that they publish the list again, and make it a permanent part of the site.

How are you doing with your list. Depressing how few actually get it.

Best
Kim

Can you help get a few pledges signed this week?
Thanks
Kim
