Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have no experience with alternative energy. I am an engineer (in a completely different field, though), and the idea has always been intriguing to me.
What excites you about this campaign?
I'm excited about this, as we clearly need to do something to develop and use non-petroleum sources for energy. While I think petroleum clearly has a place at the table, I think reducing our demand can extend the life of the existing resources, and therefore slash the cost. I also, for national security reasons, want to see the United States depend far less on energy from (somewhat) hostile nations.

Why I'm leaving Pickens Plan

I was one of the early sign-on folks, back in early July of last year. One of the appeals was that this was non-partisan. From a technical sense, I found it very interesting, but I felt there was something missing from the appeals. It feels like, to me, the big push is for getting a load of federal cash to make this happen. If that's true, I'm disappointed, as if the idea is solid enough to stand on it's own, it will make good business sense without a huge dump of pork money.

I have been contin… Continue

All the water-gas people, why are we overrun with them?

I came to this site to discuss real, concrete plans to replace electrical production that is currently natural gas with wind-generated electricity, and replace some petroleum automotive fuel with natural gas. But, the site seems to be chock-full of backyard mechanics who tell us how water is the magic fuel for cars.

See, they all point to "cracking" water into the elements of hydrogen and oxygen. There is no doubt, hydrogen (H2) is a powerful gas, with a lot of energy. We've made bombs out of i… Continue

Politics

What bothers me is looking around the discussions, and seeing all the political discussions. One one side, you have all the "Bush is a war criminal !!!!11!!!!one!!", on the other, you have the "Obama is an idiot!!!!111!!!!one!!". This is a time to set aside the petty politics, shut up, work TOGETHER on something, and then worry about politics. Who is president is only part of the issue. This plan has to be palatable to Congress. We have to get the ball rolling, get BOTH sides on board. If this b… Continue

Why I'm leaving the Pickens Plan:

I was one of the early sign-on folks, back in early July of last year. One of the appeals was that this was non-partisan. From a technical sense, I found it very interesting, but I felt there was something missing from the appeals. It feels like, to me, the big push is for getting a load of federal cash to make this happen. If that's true, I'm disappointed, as if the idea is solid enough to stand on it's own, it will make good business sense without a huge dump of pork money.

I have been continuing to get emails from T. Boone, asking me to push my senators and congressmen to push the Stimulus-Porkulus project. I personally disagree with the "stimulus" plan, I feel it's bad policy, and will push an enormous amount of debt obligation onto my ancestors...all for what appears to be standard-grade, typical Washington D.C PORK. We've been implored to support this pork push NOW, before anybody gets to read it.

And then today, my "last" email from T. Boone, he notes the summit where he's meeting with people who "know what they are talking about when it comes to energy policy", and mentions John Podesta, Harry Reid, Al Gore, Carol Browner, Carl Pope....I admit, I threw up in my mouth a little after I stopped laughing uncontrollably.

This effort seems to have become very partisan. Maybe that is the result of the election, and maybe T. Boone thinks it needs to be. I think it's the wrong path...it's only my opinion, and I cannot support something that appears to have morphed into a left-wing "gimme, gimme, gimme" organization.

Best of luck to everyone.

Hi David,

Hi Fives!!!

That's just too funny, but now I'm sad because you got the first letter to C&D -- All I got was a lousy carbon copy!!! I wonder how many others have been so privileged? Do you think he keeps his lawyer on speed dial?

And after all the kind words you had about the water gas 'practitioners' Some folks just have zero sense of humor!

Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT)
A patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”). ETT provides 50 times more transportation per kWh than electric trains or cars. ETT is clean, safe, and faster than jets. The focus of ETT is to maximize transportation value with proven technologies. ETT is being implemented in Asia.

You may have gotten it Dave, that's good. This reply is one good reason why I do it.

thank Phil for the "push the plan" links you saved me 30 hours of time LOL"

Sorry if I am annoying you, sincerely, but there is a bigger purpose to my posts than to simply not be annoying. GL

Hi David,

Yeah, I see Tom's "threat" and saying he wants your address so his lawyer can send you a nasty letter is just too funny.

It's a complete bluff and this is a very gray area of the law when it comes to the internet so let them posture and send letters until they are blue in the face. Nothing will come of it except burning up the attorney's retainer.

Hey David, just stopping by to say thank you for posting and sharing your thoughts! Don't let the fruitcakes get you down; I didn't think there was anything worse than spamming a great group like this, but now I see there is (how sad and pathetic!~)

I'll be living in Alpharetta in a few months. I travel down there once a month for business. If you all get anything going down there let me know. I did start an Awesome Alpharetta for Pickens Plan group so I could have some folks a little closer to the house to discuss with.
