Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have no practical experience in alternative energy however, I fully understand the need to move away from our dependence on foreign oil and have been a proponent for alternative energy for years. I fully believe that the American people have the capability for moving what I like to call alt-E forward. However, it the responsibility of the US populous to spread the word and to get our government to make energy independence our country's number one objective over the next 10 years.
The biggest challenge in my mind is to get those who refuse to believe in our need to become energy independent. Many people with whom I have discussed this issue seem to have certain political ideologies that blind them to the fact we no longer live in a world where the United States can thrive on oil imported from foreign soil. Demand for oil in the past century has been dominated by the United States. Basically there was one straw in the oil milk shake. In just 100 years the US and the remainder of the world has possibly consumed 50% of the earth’s oil milk shake reserves. Today, we have two other countries that currently have relatively small straws in the shake but are potentially 5 times more thirsty than the US has had. If it took the US and the rest of the world to use 50% of the oil in 100 years. How long will it take the equivalent of 3, 4, 5 US thirsts to consume the remainder of the oil on this planet. This is a catastrophe that will occur and the United States has the most to loose.
What excites you about this campaign?
I feel that not only is alternative energy a way to make our country stronger and ready for the future, the need for alt energy will help drive American ingenuity and help boost our economy through the development and production of alt energy technology. This is just the beginning but if we make some strong strides forward more and more people, companies and our government will insure we will become energy independent so our future generations can enjoy a happy and prosperous live.
What do you want to do to help?
Help to spread the word about alt energy and to educate people of this dyer situation. To help our population understand that we must all take part in moving this forward in some fashion. Mostly getting our government to make this a number one priority. I truly feel that if we don't start now the U.S. is on it's way to ruin and the American way of life will be lost.

CALLING ALL LEADERS!
We have petitions! "THE PLEDGE" is on the main page.
I think this is the very best tool we could ask for. It is so much easier to get someone to sign a petition than to go online and join the plan as a member.
I have been test driving it for a few days and got 200 signatures rather eaasily. Most folks had seen the ads or seen Boone on the news. Most were eager to sign it and strongly support it. A few wanted to get more info- I handed them a business card with the website. Very few said no (2 or 3).
I hope you can ask all your "friends" to download a bunch of PLEDGES and fax them back to the office ASAP. THIS IS HOW WE BUILD AN ARMY much faster. Millions of signatures.
Thank you for all your efforts. We have a very strong team. Many ants can take the Hill!
I think it's fair to say that no matter what we do, the politicians (or the conspiracy theorists) will shift the goal post. If we open all potential oil fields tomorrow (and heck we might as well just to shut them up), next they'll start whining that someone is moving too slow, or the oil companies can't find anything yet or whatever. We'll all be 15 years down the road and arguing about why we have $10/gal oil. I just figure that I'll do what I can to build a better wind turbine now, build it big and finish the darn job myself. When I succeed in getting us off oil for electricity and Boone succeeds in getting us unto natural gas (and eventually batteries) for transportation, they can find something else to whine/argue about.
I'm sure they don't want the facts anyway, so I'd say find your niche and go out there and make it happen. Don't let 'em distract you; don't let them waste your time - that's MHO anyway...

Welcome aboard. I can't tell you what to organize because it appears to be specific to where you live. Your town or city may have all the right pieces in place, it probably does not.
I am trying to get a meeting with my congressional rep and senators. I have put together a letter with others help and sent it out. I am also trying to affect my city and state zoning laws by lobbying them to change. Anything you can afford to do time wise is what is needed. This problem is big and there is no silver bullet. It will only die by the death of a thousand cuts. Each one of us has a small knife and we need to make our mark.
Each of us has to change our behavior and then change the laws, zoning and attitudes of others around us. If you need help, let me know. I will do what I can though it might not be much. I will help.
Finally, I just want to respond on your comment on my page. I agree with you. Drilling is not the way to go. I will take it one step further, and I have made this argument many times. We should be saving the precious stuff, Oil, for more important things then transporting our buts to the mall. it is very important in the chemical industry. It is important i manufacturing advanced composites used in high end construction, composite carbon fiber. When it is gone it is gone. We need to save this for future generations to use. We need to treat it with care and concern for the future.
