Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I'm in the environmental consulting & remediation industry and have been following the issue for a long time.
What excites you about this campaign?
Finally, someone with a sense of urgency that I have felt for many years! Let's use what we have.
What do you want to do to help?
Right now I want to bounce ideas around, SOLAR needs to be a component in this, personal power generation via whatever means possible. Once I've felt it out a little more it would be good to talk to like minded people in my area to get their ideas and see what we can do on a local level.

My system was $45,000. My state rebate was $15,000 and my Federal IRS rebate was $3,000.
Where I live we have real expensive power with PG&E. They have a 'tiered' rate schedule with the upper tier rate of about $0.38 per kWh. My summer monthly bills were running $375 to $450 a month. I have had the system 3 years and expect to break even in about 6 or 7 years depending on how much the rates increase. I think of it as buying my own green electric company, and who would NOT want that.
We have what is called NET metering her in California. With NET metering I sell back electricity when I produce excess and buy it back when I need it. We also have a Time Of Use (TOU) rate schedule. One rate is from noon to 7pm (peak) and the other rate is from 7pm till noon off Peak). So... I sell back at peak $0.38 and purchase as much as I need during off peak $0.16.
The NET metering was a law that was passed here in California to help solar. It is a great system. I use the grid as a huge battery.

The system is good for me, America, and the planet. How cool is that!
