Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
My work as a commercial realtor has included oil/gas reserves and sites for solar production. My earlier career was in oganization management which included building political action committees and community outreach programs aimed at economic development.
What excites you about this campaign?
Two Reasons:
1) National independence cannot be accomplished without energy independence. The USA must not have a gun held to its head either by allies or foes.
2) The economic mess we are in will only be overcome when our citizens have a Dream large enough and practical enough for the people to buy into. Like JFK's 'Man on the Moon' this has the meat and ideas to inspire people because it is for something positive which will yield forseeable benefits to all
What do you want to do to help?
Help organize, plan and manage in the background at the local level.

Dennis,
Just let me know how I can be of service.

Do you really think wind power is the way to go? There is so much down time and unpredictability with wind. Not that it won't work but is it the most productive?

Hi Dennis, If you agree with this plan please consider passing to other people in your district as it will be a great tool to get funding for PickensPlan projects. This is a way to help and give tools to all of us for getting more RE projects started. I have been pushing for the sell of US Treasury "Energy Independence Savings Bonds". Savings bonds are normally purchased in $25 increments. This gives a way for just about any American to tighten their belts just a bit by skipping a meal at McDonalds or Pizza Hut and buying a RE savings bond to support a project. I need help pushing this project, I've faxed and emailed many in Congress/Senate already. My email is ke6cvh@yahoo.com. Here is a copy of a fax sent to Nancy Pelosi yesterday:
27FEB09

Honorable Speaker of the House Congresswoman Pelosi,

I am an Electronic Technician Chief in the US Navy with 27 years service stationed overseas. I’m outlying an idea to assist and work with current plans for achieving energy independence. I urge you, as speaker of the house and the driving force to form the select committee on energy independence and global warming, consider for discussion and introduction into the house US Treasury Savings Bonds for Energy Independance.
In WWII America sold war bonds supporting the war effort. When young, my mother told me her primary school raised enough money through bonds to build a tank to support troops. I am impressed with the patriotism and purpose of our greatest generation that accomplished so much.

Selling energy bonds for RE (Renewable Energy) development would lower foreign oil imports and assist with the complex problem of funding. Bonds sold as “Energy S” could support new solar trough plants, “Energy W” to support wind farms, Energy “H” to support hydroelectric plants, Energy “T” to support RE transportation such as electric bullet train routes powered by RE, Energy "C" COOPS for small communities only needing a small quantity of turbines, and Energy “I” for needed infrastructure high voltage power lines to the RE site. Bonds will have the project name and include an artist’s perspective of the project and an American flag. President Obama had great success with the internet during his campaign. In a similar manner, using the internet, energy bonds could have a website listing current projects and an “electronic checkout” could purchase a bond $25 or higher. Simpler methods of payment such as “PAYPAL” and credit cards would be available and after an electronic purchase is complete a color print out of the bond is available with a follow up of the bond in the mail. The website would limit quantity of projects for each category until funding is complete. After a project becomes funded, a new project will be available. A tab on the site will show history and status of previous projects. Purchasers may take great pride in “collecting” and displaying bonds of various RE projects and participating at different levels of financial support. Solar trough plants in the multi-hundred MW size capacity with molten salt energy storage in California, Arizona, and West Texas can provide a major portion of electric needs. North Dakota has potential to support 1/3 of our nations electric needs in it’s class 4 wind zone areas. There are plenty of suitable proposed wind turbine farms now around the nation to significantly increase our RE if funded. Mid sized hydro-electric has not been used in America to it’s full potential. Following the example of our neighbor, Canada, it would provide a significant increase in percentage of electric production. Developing all three we could provide the majority of our electric and heating needs through renewable energy in a "New New Deal" fashion allowing natural gas for transportation as T. Boone Pickens is working for. Bullet train routes have proven a viable alternative to commercial domestic air service and when powered by electricity provided by RE suppliers America would be in the forefront of world technology. Example, I heard of discussion for a commuter train from Denver to Colorado Springs. Such a route built as a renewable energy project with charter requirement legally requiring to only purchase electricity from available renewable energy sources would be a model example. There are many train routes, city bus systems, and government vehicles that can be converted to run from alternative energy sources and fuels. Jobs created would bolster the economy, lower trade deficit, and strengthen national security. I would take great pride in print outs of bonds with graphics of each project I supported and many other Americans would also. The energy bonds could have tax breaks. BLM lands may be a viable place to start for some projects.

I contacted the US treasury department and was told that the marketing department for savings bonds closed several years ago. I was told there would be problems because savings bonds are at the federal level while the projects will be at the state and local level. I disagree and believe that these can easily be figured out in the way of grants to the state and local level using money from the bonds for those specific projects. I was told to check out auctions on the www.treasurydirect.gov website and found them to not apply to citizens wanting to buy savings bonds to support a cause such as energy independance. I was told by the treasury department to look into CREB (Clean Renewable Energy Bonds). I found CREB to be large scale funding that a citizen would not be able to participate in as a US Treasury Energy Independance Bond would provide. If given the tools to participate directly, the power of the citizens of the United States to help achieve energy independance could not be denied. Americans mean well and the Energy Independance Savings bond program will give citizens the power at their level to make it happen. If marketed through a web page, commercials, and to federal employees the word would get out and participation would spread like wildfire.

Mr. Paul Gipe, a resident of Bakersfield CA, an author of several books about wind energy, and recipient of multiple awards as a pioneer in the industry since the 1970's has put a letter I wrote to Senator Dorgan on this subject as well as an older letter I wrote on wind COOP in JAN07. Dennis,

You are absolutely right about stamping on ants in the basement while elephants are running loose upstairs. $10 would be well spent if we launched our wind power soon.......

It's all about the MONEY

To get this plan off the ground TBP said he wanted to do it with 30% equity and the rest leveraged funds. Granted he has mich deeper pockets than we do but we're all in this together the way I see it. So whats a realistic # of turbines to build at one time. The way I hear it Boone already owns the land so thats one obstacle out of the way. It's not like we have to build every one of these things at the same time so there are 2 Million of us on the internet talking about this thing. If everyone of us bought a share of this for say $10 I think we could get started pretty soon. Boone your our Leader feel free to chime in here anytime pal I have my ten bucks ready just as long as we do'nt ask Bernie to be our banker

Cheaper wind power
A turbine design drawing on jet-engine technology reportedly could cut in half the cost of generating electricity from wind.
-- Consulting-Specifying Engineer, 12/10/2008 8:05:00 AM
Wilbraham, Mass.-based FloDesign Wind Turbine reports it has developed a wind turbine that could create wind-generated electricity at half the cost of conventional turbines, according to a report on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Technology Review.

Usually, as wind approaches a turbine, approximately half of the air is forced around the blades rather than through them, and the energy in that deflected wind is lost. At best, traditional wind turbines capture only 59.3% of the energy in wind, a value called the Betz limit. By contrast, the FloDesign unit surrounds its wind-turbine blades with a shroud that directs air through the blades and speeds it up, which reportedly increases power production. Smaller blade size and other factors allow the new turbines to be packed closer together than conventional turbines, said to increase the amount of power that can be generated per acre of land.

The company reports it has built a small prototype for wind-tunnel tests and will soon begin building a 12-ft-diameter, 10-kW system for field tests, with completion anticipated by the end of next year or early in 2010

Welcome to PIckens Plan!

Boone has met with Obama's transition team - the President- elect is intent on getting us 100% off of foreign oil in less than 10 years. This is fantastic! WE MUST give the new President the "muscle" he needs to show Congress that the American people are squarely in support of this and will accept nothing less.

PLEASE get signatures of support: http://media.pickensplan.com/downloads/PP/pollingsignupsheet.pdf

We must get this done before Inauguration Day and give Obama the support he needs, AND INSURE that our representatives, special interests and lobbyists can not derail this effort. We must be louder and stronger. Thomas Friedman has said, only a huge grass roots movement will cause the revolution in change that we seek!

Take a petition to work... or school.... or wherever you go.

In the last few days I have picked up 68 signatures from various stores while doing my Chrismas shopping and another 16 at the gym, as well as 2 new army members - one who has vowed to get 100 signatures on her own. EVERYONE wants to get off of foreign oil! It is an easy ask- Boone has done the hard work.

I look forward to working with you. WE CAN DO THIS!

Best,
Kim

Welcome!
We are a voluntary community of individuals who are placing our combined support behind T. Boone Pickens and his efforts to send our government a clear (heard) message that we must reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil through the use of all domestic energy alternatives. This site is a place to interact with fellow Pickens Plan supporters, keep up with events and opportunities to help get more involvement. Look up your local leader from map on home pg.
Please, I ask the first sites you visit to get accurate info and articles to see pretty much what the plan is about and where the plan stands. Some are long, please; take the time to get all the details.
On the home page, click on About The Plan ~ Boone Cam ~ Blog
We need to Push.PickensPlan.com – or “Push” as we like to call it.
Our future really does depend on us at this point in time!
If not now, WHEN? If not you, WHO
? I am proud to put my efforts towards this cause.
Well as they say (the large lady voiced the end). Neither candidate openly gave his support outright for our plan. Both knew about it and to a degree felt the intense support behind it. It goes back to another old saying, on the political platform be careful how far you put your foot in the door.
There is a group for almost everything. The Forums/discussions on this site are many and you’ll probably find something that interests or concerns you. Some are very long and were started months ago. For the ones that concern you, Please keep in mind, events are remembered and relayed differently by those commenting, which as we all too well know equals at least three sides to the event.
Again Welcome; Tom- Welcome wagon crew- After you have read the sites I mentioned, if you need anything else to help you, while you help the push, please stop by.

Apathy is a wonderful thing - by doing nothing - it grows geometrically. You ask why I am writing this to a group of activists in The Pickens Plan?

It is simple, world oil prices have dropped in response to lagging demand - the worldwide depression we are entering has taken center stage as the issue of greatest concern. Dropping demand has led to an oversupply in the short term and this will in turn lead Americans to be apathic regarding energy independence.

In a recent debate aired nationally Mr Pickens rightfully stated that the good old ways of doing things in the USA will only continue the follies of the past. His opponent in the debate urged that we allow free trade and markets to make the corrections needed in the marketplace. In answer Mr Pickens understated that 70% of active oil and gas reserves in the world are controlled by non-democratic countries and cartels which act outside the norms of the freemarket. These groups place their own best interests way ahead of ours as a nation. This translates to the fact that because there is an oversupply of crude now does not mean it will stay that way in the near future!

Knee kick reactions is all we will ever see by our politicos - as we are seeing now in response to the economic mess where there have been many chances to head this mess off had our Apathy regarding real issues been overcome and the politicians been made to hear and fear the electorate.

It is my feeling we need to streamline the Pickens message we are sending out and make it harder hitting so those around us will not be lulled back into apathy about this most important issue.

Because of the worldwide depression which is coming, it will be more important than ever to have energy independence. As in all worldwide economic disasters, war is nearly always inevitable and our supply pipelines will be affected. In a time of depression world leaders turn on each other to place the blame and justify the war. Does this blame fuel anything? Will it help us as a Nation? Can you put blame in a pipeline or on a ship or fuel anything with it?

With all the bailouts comes the printing of money to pay for them - ultimately the dollar's value will be decreased and fuel prices will increase - it can be easily seen where fuel prices here will reach $6.00 - $8.00 per gallon before the next national election.

If we allow the Energy Independence to languish in apathy until this happens it be no one's fault but our own.
