Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
We have invented and designed a system to collect and distribute water flows for heating and cooling buildings (airports, exposition buildings, clinics, hotels, apartment buildings and commercial operations, especially food industries).
• Savings on investment costs (depending on type of system 10% - 30%)
• Savings on energy costs (depending on type of energy producer 20% - 50%)
• Savings on service costs (about 80%)
• Simple precaution for future enlargement of the energy system
• Significant space-savings (about 2/3, space is often an obstacle
Additional advantages for retrofits:
• Parts replacement possible (replacement of the older part of the system, big pumps gets replaced by small pumps or left out, for example)
• During parts replacement, the operation is interrupted only for two, three hours
• Flexible installations, even on ceilings, in and around corners or under stairs
• The hot or cold water streams can be moved between different building and different systems depending on efficient use (without Zortström, this is simply not possible or only with enormous complexity).
No other system can accomplish that. We are number 1 on the highly competitive market in Germany, saving hundrets of thousands of tons of fuel each year. We would be interested to do that on the American market as well. Look at www.zortea.at. My Mail: dr.resch@zortea.info
What excites you about this campaign?
To be less dependent on foreign oil. I think, this is important for the US. I like the US, in 1974, I made a campaign for my toy "Squermles", it was very successful, I sold over 8 million pieces (Toy of the Year 1974). But now, I think, we have to work on serious things, like how to save energy.
What do you want to do to help?
To introduce our energy saving device to the US, also a new development to produce cooling with the heat of the sun through a special designed heat pump. Also the use of wast heat from waste water to heat buildings

Good afternoon, Dr. Reinhard: Received your response and would enjoy meeting and partake discussions about your machines and their uses. I downloaded the English version and would enjoy "Insight" as to the reasons for the complex valves and how they control the flow of fluids.
Following is a slightly deeper knowledge about my past endeavors in "Machines, concepts and aspects not exposed before". I hold 125 Patents worldwide for "Installation Machines for raised road Markers" and associated products. US Patents: # 5853263, 5975795, 6079899, 6059488, plus two other patents on specific product used in operation of said machine. I designed and created a Robotic Machine to install specific products and the associated computer systems to operate were designed by Two, "Multi-talented engineers and a Space Labs Computer Programmer".
Our final machine was totally operated by information inputted onto a "Credit Card" sized card and by simply swiping it through our dash reader, the complete operation of the Installation and operational information for our machine application, "up or down" road sloped surfaces using our hydraulic drive system, with automatic implementation of the Federal Government spec products for traffic control surface mounted markers as required to complete the installation process and the only "Human intervention" was to keep the machine loaded and supplied with bituminous adhesive and road marker srequired by governmental rules.
I worked with "Peter-Built" truck manufacturing and received their Factory Approval for an adaptation to install onto their "Dual-Drive" rear axle units and using a hydraulic motor would transport the truck from the instructions received from our onboard computer system.
This allowed complete control of the installation systems speed and movement with the "only operator input" required was the "Swiping" in of the required pattern card and "Push the Go button". Anachronism.

Dr. Reinhard Resch--11/23/2009--Further information from "Professional's"

On Saturday the 14th of November, 09, I went to BARRON Heating/air Conditioning Company to inquire find any information as to a method of calculating the amount of Btu’s collectable in 26,125 cubic feet of air contained within the attic space?
Mr. Gary Lee's, a certified Heating Engineer, answer was very logical in that the ability of any specific “Cubic Foot of Air” to hold energy changes every second and the fact it has produced excess heat, above and beyond the amount need for the last 25 years indicates the “Volume and btu’s” are in excess of what is required to maintain 74 degree’s or more.
Mr. Gary Lee’s information is “spot on” in that if it works, even if impossible to “Calculate”, at any one point in time, that my system functions and produces excess heating which is easily dissipated by allowing the extra heat simply to be exhausted from the building using any adjustable/temperature, activated opening to dump excess heat generated.
This takes us to the next stage of the question, how to calculate the amount of attic air space volume and its ability to capture the Solar energy needed to heat a specific volume within a residence typically constructed using or having an attic space:

Separate document: "Ratio of attic air volume to interior air volume" to generate enough Passive Solar Heating to maintain 74 Degrees During Winter Months.

Going one step further, using known abilities from the five projects constructed from 1983 to 1989, my conclusion of the ability of the attic space in Burlington of 26,125 cubic feet of stable air mass will heat a volume of 141,075 cubic feet of interior to a "Stable Temperature "without using an auxiliary furnace system" does produce stable 74 degree and up to 80 degree "+", temperatures, based on actual operations for 25 years.
Based on these observation, 23,947 cubic feet of attic volume using six-8" x 12" air intake vents located, as shown in picture, at the lower chord line of the typical truss design used in the United States, will produce "Free Energy" in excess of what is needed to "Heat" 141,075 cubic interior space to a temperature comfortable for human occupation.
The ratio of "attic space to living area" to create enough heat to either "supplement" or completely maintain a comfort level of 74 degrees could be calculated on the buildings attic space volume to interior living space.
The five projects constructed and operating for the previous 25 years were located from Bellingham to Vancouver Washington and all projects had similar attic volume to building interior space.
The four projects in Bellingham, Mount Vernon, Monroe and Vancouver Washington contained interior space volume of 225,330 cubic interior volume (145' x 74' x 21'). The attic space contains 48,285 cubic feet of air. (Attic space is 145 x 74 x 11 and divided by 2 to equal 48,285 cubic feet). I know from 20, plus years of operation, that 48,285 cubic Feet of attic space will heat a building of 225,330 cubic feet with a need of $1.00 per day, "ONLY" during "Freezing Cold Conditions", as proven by actual operational cost associated with operations of all five projects.
The ratio of attic space to living quarters is about 19% to 21% to generate heating energy for an average dwelling space in the zoning from Canadian Border to the Columbia River in Washington State. Lets take a single level residential home of 2,000 square ft., which equates to a typical home of 36' x 56' and 8' ceilings. We have 16,128 of interior cubic feet volume. Using a typical truss roof using 4 in 12 pitch we end up with 7.056 cubic feet of attic air space.
The ratio of 14,112 divided by 7.056 is a percent difference of 44%. This attic ratio of cubic feet to the cubic feet of the interior space needing heat indicates more then adequate ability to produce "Passive Solar Heat".
I have constructed five projects that produce an excess of "Passive Solar Heating Capacity" with a ratio of 27% attic to living quarters which indicates the typical home attic will produce an "EXCESS" of solar Heating in their typical "Trussed Roof" residence using any type of "Truss Roof Construction" with typical Asphalt Roofing Materials.

Sincerely, Anachronism.

The picture is shown on my PHOTO'S on my site showing Burlington Project. The following information is my "First" in depth study of the Passive solar systems I designed and constructed. The % of attic space to the buildings volume needing heat now becomes a "Given". Specific ratios of stable attic space to interior space that need heat is defined. These same ratios apply to the ability to CREATE Passive Cooling as installed in Vancouver in 1988-9. Thanks for asking your questions as it lead to a deeper study and shows each project operated the same which now I understand. Thank You,

Date of this picture is 1984. The Remote Sensor unit is used to measure the Attic “Interior” air temperate at a position 6 feet below the interior air space in the attic. The distance from the attic floor to the interior peak of the trusses is 9’ 4”. The length of the building is 95’ and it is 55’ wide. We now have two triangle sections of roof area that gives approximately 23,947 cubic feet of “Stationary Air” mass that will capture the solar generated heat taken from the “Natural Forces” of SUN energy as it strikes the Black Composition Asphalt roof covering. The ambient outside air temperate of the building roof shell is non-acting on the captured attic space air. The “Intake Openings” into the attic space are located exactly at the roof truss lower chord.
Even a Heating Engineer would have trouble calculating the energy storage of “one cubic foot of static” air mass at 80 degrees or 100 degrees in said space, as it would change from second to second as all conditions changed.
The heat energy generated and captive in the interior space of the attic will literally heat the interior volume of 141,075 cubic feet to 80 degrees (Plus) on a normal winter day. The exterior walls a 12” thick and has an r-27 rating and the attic ceiling is 12” of fiberglass batting. There no opening’s from the interior of the building above the closed doors on the first floor. Yesterday I went to BARRON Heating/air Conditioning Company to inquire and find out information as to a method of calculating the amount of Btu’s collectable in 23,947 cubic feet of air contained within the attic?
The answer received was very logical in that the ability of any specific “Cubic Foot of Air” changes every second and the fact it has produced excess heat, above and beyond the amount need for the last 25 years indicates the “Volume and btu’s” are in excess of what is required to maintain 74 degree’s or more.

I have never used metal roof materials therefore I have no knowledge of this materials ability to transfer heat to the attic space.

AS SENT TO BELOW----
Dr. Reinhard Resch from Austria: (Tuesday, October 21, 9:05, AM) Thank you for even asking a question as 99.99% of people never ask anything! First off there are NO Machines involved in creating any heat or cooling. Mother Nature supplies ALL the energy required to heat all of the five projects I created and owned. Look at my projects located at—
http://push.pickensplan.com/photo/photo/listForContributor?screenName=36rfivc38zfq8

When I took my first step to use passive solar heating it happened as an after thought. The above photo shows( Photos show each project) an "Expensive" attempt to create my first attempt in creating a” Solar Passive Heating System". This "Gold line" Remote sensor control box involved an initial expense of $35.10 to create my first passive solar heating system. Sorry to say this unit has "Never" failed to function in 25 years. This simple unit arrived with a "remote sensor unit" and required 2-wire telephone wire to reach clear up to the peak of the roof which required another expense of $4.00 to reach from the first floor to the peak of the inside of the attic.
The next expense involved attaching an 8", used round duct pipe from the top of the ductwork, at the roof line height, previously installed to "Suck" the air from the third floor, down to the "used hot-water radiator squirrel cage fan system" out of a "Men's Clothing store in Bellingham wash. This fan system “SUCKED” and forced this air into the first floor hallway which then vent thru floor vents back the top floor and into the suction system.
The sad part of this whole story is as follows: This "expensive" process has produced 99 percent of "ALL THE HEAT NEEDED FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS!" and it has never required repairs. ". This all happened in Dec of 1983 and on the 22nd of December, around 3:00 in the afternoon.
I was busy sweeping the first floor and I had set the remote sensor earlier to 64 degrees as the building was warm from the gas-fired furnace and I knew that the furnace was turned off. I entered the furnace and "turned" the remote sensor control to "68 deg." and the system stopped. Now the question asked next is what is happening "OUTSIDE". I went outside and it was snowing and three inches of snow had accumulated on the roof AND it was 23 degrees outside!
This was my first experience with actual passive solar heating. My gas bill changed from that point forward to an average of $1 a day or simply $30 a month for "four month's of the year and the "solar heating for the next 24 years" has supplied 98% of all heating.
This same control would work to create a "Passive Solar" system in ANY building with an attic and any kind of downdraft furnace suction piping" with the ability to simply insert an 8" sheet metal duct into the top of the "Return Pipe" to your furnace system. Install a “gold line remote sensor” (Using telephone wire to connect the sensor to the unit) and you now have a working "Passive Solar" heating system.
By code all attic's for the last 40 years must have a means to allow air to enter the attic space and normally have an "Exit Opening" on both ends of the gable roof to "Allow the hot air to leave the attic space".
Ask your local building department if you can close those vents and explain that you now have installed a "Positive Displacement System" to purge the hot air from your attic. I can't declare this will furnish "added" heat to your particular application, I can "Only" explain that which I have created has "passed all Building Codes for the last 25 years in Washington State Standard Building Codes.
Now your next step is to install the system I created and installed in Vancouver Washington in 1989. This system has operated for the last twenty-years and it Passively and automatically "Heats and Cools" a building 144' long x 74' wide and 21' tall. My system has operated for 20 years with no repairs or alteration's from date of installation. In 1989 the "added" expense for natural gas to the heating phase in the winter added $563 dollars to the process.
This amount is $1.54 per day, over 365 days, to maintain a constant warm building. The building in Vancouver has "Cubic Volume of AIR equal to 225,330 cubic feet or simply 12 homes of 2400 square feet of floor space. Amazing to think this system even works? But after building five projects and in operation for 25 years most prove something???
Dr. Reinhard Resch: To create a “Totally Passive Solar Cooling System” takes some special operations that occur when predetermined conditions are occurring. The defined conditions occur every night when your building is 20 feet above the surface upon which you construct a building. THESE conditions are not guaranteed to happen everywhere, BUT they happen in the Washington and Oregon climate bands of the United States. I have not studied other climate bands; therefore my system may not function the same way.
Now we have reached the question of “Cooling with Passive Solar Cooling?” My project in Vancouver “cools” the complete building when the conditions outside meet specific conditions. In other words the air temperature is at or below 65 degrees. Simply ask yourself this question? Does the air temperature twenty feet above the ground drop to 70 degrees or lower? If you stood on a building roof at night, would it be colder or warmer then standing on the ground? It is “Cooler” 20 feet up in the air. Now you want this cool air inside your dwelling or business? How does this action occur? Looking at my building pictures you should notice the three vents openings located 21’ above the ground on both ends of the structure.
To draw cool air into the super heated attic space is bloody simple. In the outer roof surface at the highest point, just below the peak on a 3/12 pitched roof, you install a 24" exhaust pipe with a low voltage (12 volt dc motor) to operate a valve closing off this pipe opening. This pipe has a water tight cap to keep water out and when opened allows free movement of attic air to “leave the attic”. NOW you have created a Suction system that “Sucks” the cool night air into your attic space as the “HOT” air in the attic exits out the vent in the roof peak. When the attic sensor indicates the attic space now holds “Cool” air, a signal is sent to close the peak roof vent and “TURN ON THE SUCTION FAN” and draw this cool air inside your building. The volume of cool air outside your building is inexhaustible and FREE!
The system now “charges” the interior with the FREE cool air and circulates it throughout the interior until another sensor indicates that the interior temperate is proper and simply turns the suction system off and everything goes to neutral. The next step is to recharge the attic with outside air during the day time and recreate your passive solar heater and your sensors will open the vents and allow the newly heated attic exhaust the cool air and recharge the attic and create MORE FREE heat if needed?
I have both heated and cooled our Vancouver Washington project for 20 years for less then $2.00 per day. NO repairs or changes have occurred, to my knowledge and in 2006, I checked and took pictures of the interior and exterior and they looked as clean as the day I built the project. I can guarantee you can’t heat or cool 12 homes for $1.54 per day. Anachronism, Out of its time and place.
