Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
My blog is Endangered Spaces blogspot.com. My tag line is "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step (Lao-tzu). Take the first step here." I discuss all types of environmental news and cutting edge research into alternative energies. I am an environmental activist on all fronts and am a supporter of many environmental entities.
What excites you about this campaign?
That a Texas oilman is doing something besides earning money and pillaging the natural world. I am a native Texan and know that Texas can be a leader in alternative energy. We have the wind, the sun, the space , the technology and the knowledge to become the leader in this area.
What do you want to do to help?
Drive traffic to this site, blog about issues and initiatives on this site, perhaps organize activities in my area.

Why the Wind Blows : A History of Weather and Global Warming by Matthys Levy.

I am reading a book called Why the Wind Blows : A History of Weather and Global Warming by Matthys Levy. The book is straightforward and easy to read. I have never fully understood global weather patterns, but Mr. Levy is gifted as a teacher, so I am learning.

I really like how he asks and then answers this question:

Q: "What can governments do to stabilize the global climate when improving efficiency and expanding renewable energy is clearly not enough?"

A: "At the start of the Second World War, the United States was able to convert a peacetime industrial economy to full war production in the space of less than a year. It also funded, organized and accomplished the development of an atomic weapon in less than five years."

Think about it . . .

The USA needs to get off their butt and do something. We can lead the world in alternative energy technology and innovation. We just have to shake off the grip of oil and gas interests. Lets take a gasoline holiday for real--forever!

Global Warming : Dead Zones Ahead

Using the Danish Center for Earth System Science (DCESS), Earth scientists Gary Shaffer, Steffen Malskær Olsen and Jens Olaf Pepke Pedersen modeled the next 100,000 years of Earth history if global warming continues unabated.

They used two models that measure the levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere as an indicator of rising temperature. One model found that CO2 levels could rise to 549 parts per million (ppm) by 2100, which would be a 50 percent increase from CO2 levels… Continue

Sometimes, the Good Guys Win

In recent years, the manipulation, suppression, and distortion of federal government science has misinformed the public and jeopardized our health and safety. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) has worked hard and achieved much against such overwhelming odds.

Celebrate achievements of the Union of Concerned Scientists in 2008:

Global Warming - More than 12,000 UCS activists have already signed a petition urging… Continue

Sorry for dropping out of sight

I have been ill for the past year with Hep C and then while undergoing the treatment. The side effects of the Interferon and Ribavirin have reduced whatever health I had to anemia, depression and pain.

Then, last month I was diagnosed with emphysema. I believe it is a side effect of the Ribavirin because it started when I began taking the treatment and gets worse after I take the twice daily dose.

At the end of January, I will be through with the treatment. I do not know… Continue

Read it: Giant microwave turns plastic back to oil - earth - 26 June 2007 - New Scientist Environment

I have not heard of Global Resource Corporation (GRC), but they have the technology to allow the USA to become independent of foreign oil by extracting oils from slurry, shale and sands; through the… Continue

Blue-Green Algae to Save the World

New Source for Biofuels Discovered by Researchers at The University of Texas at Austin | The University of Texas at Austin

Two scientists at University of Texas at Austin discovered how to use photosynthetic organisms, known as cyanobacteria, to make ethanol, which is a type of alternative fuel. These organisms get energy from the sun and use the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to convert it into organic… Continue

Happy New Year CyberCelt,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me CyberCelt, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.

BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.

TRANSPORTATION is the master key to basic survival, and the cornerstone of the economy. We all know that transportation presently depends on oil production, and oil production is peaking. We must focus first on transportation – it is the highest priority. The PickensPlan to transition vehicles to natural gas is a great start toward 100% energy independence, but is a stop-gap measure till we can transition to all electric transportation. Electric energy is strained without adding transportation demands; so we must implement drastic efficiency improvement.
Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT) is a patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”); ETT can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh (or carbon credit) than electric cars or trains. ETT is silent, low cost, safe, faster than jets, and is electric so it can make maximum use of wind or PV power. I invite you to visit my page to learn more about ETT
