- 30+ years in energy field. Raised in the oil fields of oklahoma. My father was a petroleum engineer with several mid-sized independents. I worked for TransOk pipeleine, Cities Service Co, Getty Oil, & Texaco in the natural gas/gas plants arena. In the early 1980's I tried to build a wind powered home unit but costs eventually nixed those ideas. I then tried to get Texaco gas plants division which had electrical generators in all their large gas plants to create electricity and pump it into the grid rather than selling the dry gas to utilities.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- It is viable and doable but we need to get congress off their collective duffs to help make this happen. Forget about "corn-based" ethanol it is a very expensive joke and we are paying for it. Reduce the subsidy and move it over to wind and solar. Two years ago I tried to buy CNG Honda in Tulsa but was unable to purchase a new one except on the East or West coasts which I thought was short-sighted of Honda. I purchased a Honda Fit instead (40 mpg hiway) but still would have liked to have purchased a CNG Honda. We have 7-8 ONEOK fast-fill pumps in the Tulsa area so getting fuel would not be a problem for commuters.

BTW, oklahoma: I just posted an article about Home Wind Systems in oklahoma. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "soft policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. You should read that article, important.

There is a perfect storm of events happening right now that create the possibility of a paradigm shift that is urgently needed. We have an angry citizenry due to pain at the pump, a presidential election on the horizon, and a man with a plan to dramatically and imminently reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and provide a bridge to future solutions, who has the resources, contacts, knowledge, wealth and "will" to get it done.
Please share this plan with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. As you know, it is simply like signing a petition. With large numbers of supporters, we can put pressure to bear on Congress to incentivize alternative and renewable energies, and insure that our future president will be a leader that will push for domestic energy solutions. JFK once said. "in the next 10 years we will put a man on the moon". He got it done. We need that kind of leadership on energy.
Time is of the essence. If gas prices retreat the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not get this done when we had the chance.
