Did you bother to look into what this is about? Or ar you just close minded to nuclear power? The technology to provide unlimited electrical power at A mini-fraction of the cost with hardly no waste is incredible. Using boron of all things. Before y…

Thanks

Mr. Yde:
The purpose of Pickens Plan is to push what we can accomplish NOW. The other potential answers for our oil consumption are far off in the future, and for us to try to work on those potential future answers detracts from our efforts to make a difference NOW. We will let the future sort itself out.
Our efforts are what we can do NOW. That is develop wind energy capabilities and its distribution networks, and promote increased use of CNG.
Both of these efforts are available NOW, usable generally NOW. They are a bridge, as Boone has always said, and that is where our efforts need to be concentrated.
Let other organizations work for the potential future answers. Our goal is to make an immediate difference, and that is where we need to stay focused.

Fred

Thanks for joining the ROUND-UP.
Please share with your network and add a comment about the concept at the site. It's an idea in formation and everyone's input is sought and welcome.

We’re very happy to have you with us. With you along, and 1.4 million others, maybe we’ll actually get this thing done. Keep you horse watered and your powder dry, it's going to be a long dusty ride.

Mr. Yde:
Re your "request" for clarification, and your later comments about availability of alternative sources of power:
You are right on. All these "other" sources are very interesting, and that is the way the world will EVENUTALLY go, but for now, they are just labratory curiosities. Even when they become available, THERE STILL HAS TO BE THE INFRASTRUCTURE TO UTILIZE THEM! That will not happen quickly, or in any kind of a timely manner. The basic technology is not even in place yet, the infrastructure to utilize all those kinds of exotic power haven't even been thought of yet, and that is what takes all the time to accomplish.
That is where the Pickens Plan comes in. It gives us an IMMEDIATE START to working on the problem, while we work toward the eventual solution. And the infrastructure further refined under the Pickens Plan will be utilized then for the utilization of the final solution.
Please remember, people, being able to PRODUCE power is worthless, regardless of the beauty of the solution, unless you can get that power to the consumer.
That is what infrastructure is, the ability to deliver the power.
Only electricity, and natural gas, has the infrastructure IN PLACE NOW to be used NOW. That is what we need NOW.
It gives us time to work on the other sources.

I live in Greentown Indiana near Kokomo and work at Delphi as a Business Analyst. I have spent quite a bit of time studying energy and before I joined the Pickens group or even heard of him I reached the following solutions for our energy problem which is similar to but not the same.

1. Coal to Natural Gas conversion - Great Point Energy has a technology using a low cost metal catalyst to do this conversion. This should be a BIG TIME production effort and the technology should be shared.

This process will not only convert Coal to Natural Gas but also junk petro products such as Shale, Oil Sand, and others.
Also, these same guys can easily make hydrogen from the natural gas for hydrogen fuel cell cars.

Why are we not hearing about this?

Government should make the auto guys convert CARS to compressed natural gas CNG cars like the Honda Civic and support the infrastructure for this.
Costs for this are $5000 or less so provide an incentive.

2. Algae Biodiesel - My brother in law has a large Hog production operation. He has waste tanks below the hog bins that are the perfect nutrients for growing Algae. By using long tubes which are photobioreactors, the hog waste, water, and carbon dioxide CO2 (which can come from the coal to natural gas producers in 1. above) 20,000 gallons of biodiesel fuel per acre can be produced easily. In the US if we have only 40,000 biodiesel farms of 200 acres growing algae for biodiesel we have enough to replace our oil use permanently. My idea is to grow this Algae biodiesel for large Semi trucks and have the cars run on CNG, electric, and hydrogen.

3. Wind - no need to discuss this one as T Boone says it best but wind to run our electricity.

These 3 things get us off foreign oil.

I am willing to help but I do not understand why T Boone does not include these other needed energy technologies as part of the strategy.

Bush was a complete waste from an energy leadership perspective and Obama talks great but let's see.

Hi Fred

Please help us get to 2 million this weekend!

Manually input the name, address and email of all the folks you know who support this plan on the form at:

http://action.pickensplan.com/site/c.hdKGIKNqEoG/b.4816589/k.7207/Volunteer_Login_Form/apps/ka/ct/contactus.asp?c=hdKGIKNqEoG&b=4816589&en=eoLDIPPyH8IAISMwH6LAIPMuFjLNKUOALeLJISMyFoKZH

WE CAN DO THIS.

Obama gave a terrific speech Friday from a wind turbine parts manufacturing facility in Ohio. Now is the time to keep up the pressure. We ARE changing the way everyone in this country looks at the energy crisis, and how it directly effects our economy, environment and national security.

Have a nice weekend. Hope you will help.

Best,
Kim

I noticed your blog. Clynton is my go to guy for questions like this. Tell him I sent you. Nice guy - very helpful!

Not sure how exactly to do what it is you are trying to do but I am more than willing to offer my skills to you. I am studying computer sciences at college, so I may be able to figure it out for you. Maybe I can serve as a type of attache' or secretary.

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I've sold alternative energy products like solar hot water heating systems, integrated with geothermal loops, window quilts, reflective floor insulation, and alternative furnace devices, that take the load off traditional carbon based furaces.
What excites you about this campaign?
The prospect of a knowledgeable, and well funded citizen taking the bull by the horns and getting people organized and involved in knowing that alternative energy can work. The one thing I know we need to do, and I've known it for years, is the conversion to CNG. I just do not understand the pushback on this. We have the greatest known reserves of this fuel, and we should be using it. The infrastructure is there to use it, and thank God for Boone and his campaign to bring awareness to this.
What do you want to do to help?
Whatever is feasible for me to do. I'm a single dad with a teenager who needs me home, but I can write, and I can host and I can organize. When my teenager goes to college, I can travel to help anywhere needed, but that won't be for a few more years. Hopefully by then, the Plan will be in place.

e-mailing invitations

It is kind of difficult for this somewhat challenged boomer to import his address book from outlook to here. Does anyone have nay suggestions on doing that. The site doesn't seem to be very friendly in the attempt to do such a process. Or maybe I should e-mail the address book a link. Whichever, I need a tekkie to help me do that.
