Hi Gary
Glad to connect with you again! Need your help.
I know that we are friends, and you get email updates from me, however, I think this is so important, I am reaching out personally.
I AM CREATING A "100 CLUB"... members that have faxed in 100 or more signed pledges. So many thousands of people signed onto this site and said they would do "anything" or "everything" to help. Here is your chance!
We have the mechanism to build our numbers, we need to use it. Pledges are a very easiest ask- Boone has done the hard work. All we need to do is hitch our wagon to his horse and plow to the finish. I have sent in 240 so far. The office has recieved thousands, we need millions.
It comes down to.... DO WE HAVE THE FORTITUDE to really go the distance on this? I sure hope so. We aren't asking folks to take up arms. But, THIS IS OUR REVOLUTION. And we have a very small window to get it done. I would like your help.
Are you able to help us fight for this? Are you in?
Best,
Kim
Just 10 a day for 10 days! For our energy future, isn't it worth it?
This country is capable of so many possibilities when we unite for a common cause. Those achivements have been demonstrated repeatedly through time. Roosevelt united the country through one of the greatest challenges to our continued freedom. Eisenhower had the vision to create the interstate highway system to connect a growing economy and provide national security. John Kennedy inspired us to reach the moon within the decade and spawned a new age of technological advancement. Johnson's Great society plan addressed poverty and inequality. Nixon established the EPA to protect our environment in the face of expanding industrialism. Reagan brought the cold war to an end. All those leaders had vision, committment, and courage. Their personal political fortunes were put at risk for the greater good and we are all better off for their resolve.
Our next president has the opportunity to set this country on a secure course toward energy independence with bold steps, cooperation, and commitment from all members of Congress. The staus quo must change if future generations of Americans are going to live free and prosper.
Consider how France responded to the oil embargo of 1974. France now derives over 75% of its electricity from nuclear energy, and is the world's largest net exporter of electricity due to its very low cost of generation. The French gain over EUR 3 billion per year from this energy export. The present situation is due to the French government deciding in 1974, just after the first oil shock, to rapidly expand the country's nuclear power capacity. This decision was taken in the context of France having substantial engineering expertise but few indigenous energy resources. Nuclear energy, with the fuel cost being a relatively small part of the overall cost, made good sense in minimising imports and achieving greater energy security.
As a result of the 1974 decision, France now claims a substantial level of energy independence and almost the lowest cost electricity in Europe. It also has an extremely low level of CO2 emissions per capita from electricity generation, since over 90% of its electricity is nuclear or hydro.
Nuclear energy is only one possibility that will contribute to our long term needs. The lesson we can learn from France is that bold action and a forward thinking energy policy is required for our continued economic and national security. Harnessing our natural resources and using that power to transition away from hydrocarbons is critical for all Americans from both political parties. Go Boone!

I did go on and sign the petition and made a small payment. Someone did a nice job on that. Perhaps that was Bruce? Thanks for all of your hard work.
Check out the Petition and open letter to congress that my friend Bruce has posted. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/STAY08/index.html Once again congress has adjourned and waffled on taking action. Lets keep the pressure on them for the next session.
I agree that the system is flawed. Everyone is frustrated by that. But for now it is the one in place. And we need to find a way to work within the confines of it to get this done. Hopefully with enough of a voice we can get them to listen. When we make it so painful that not paying attention will cost them their precious pension, THEN we may get the results!
Excellent. lets work on the points we want to make. I posted a few. You have some you would like to add. We can then draft them up in a some what official looking statement and get hem out there. The 21st legislative dems are having their annual picnic close to my house on the 16th. Maybe I can go down with it and get a bunch of signatures here.
We would 1st want to try and get the Pickens people on board too. At least the 1st congressional people.
