Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
As Senior Vice President of Acciona Solar Power since 2005, Mr. Cohen is the Chief Technology Officer responsible for the engineering, operations, research, development and dissemination of solar thermal energy technologies for the company’s solar energy projects.
Mr. Cohen has over 30 years of experience in the field of solar energy. He previously served as the Vice President of Engineering and Operations for Acciona Solar Power (formerly Solargenix Energy) beginning in 1998. Mr. Cohen was instrumental in the development of the Nevada Solar One project, the largest solar thermal electric power plant to be built in the last 17 years, and the third largest plant of its kind in the world. Mr. Cohen was the Chief Engineer responsible for the development of the solar technologies being used at Nevada Solar One today.
In 2002, Mr. Cohen was recognized as a solar industry leader when he received the prestigious “Hoyt Clarke Hottel Award” from the American Solar Energy Society. This award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of solar energy.
What excites you about this campaign?
For the last 30 years, I have dedicated my life to the promotion of solar technologies, particularly solar thermal electric. I have done that because I believe that we should become Energy Independent. Therefore, I agree with the concept of the plan i.e. renewable energy is a viable solution for America’s future, but I believe that while Wind Power has some merit , Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) should have a key role in this plan. CSP provides reliable utility scale power at the time of the year and the day when it is the most needed. With thermal storage and hybridization, CSP is also an ideal partner for nat. gas and can provide clean power 24/7. More than 420 MW of CSP deployed in the US are proving everyday since 1984, that solar is a major player in solving our energy crisis.

Hi Gilbert! Glad you joined the Pickens Plan. I invite you to take the next step and join the local chapter at:
http://push.pickensplan.com/group/DistrictGroupNC04
Here you'll find a lot of local people hanging out that are talking about stuff that’s relevant to us. Plus, we try to meet face to face every month or so. Come on over!

Welcome Gilbert.

Looks like evryone here is happy to have you on the team. I agree with Dan, please let us know how to help you.

Keep this program in mind as well.
After you get your friends to join the site, and send your letters off to Congress....I hope you will work to join the "100CLUB"... for members that have faxed in 100 or more signed pledges.

PLEDGES are the vehicle that can drive our numbers, we need to use them! It is a very easy ask- Boone has done the hard work. All we need to do is hitch our wagon to his horse and plow to the finish. I have sent in 280 so far. I have 48 friends, that I know of, who are working on the challenge. By the end of the week that will be 5,000 new supporters of this plan- 4 times the number that joined the plan online this week.... with just 49 people!

IMAGINE what we could do if everyone that said they would do
anything they could to get this done, joined the "100CLUB"
It comes down to.... DO WE HAVE THE FORTITUDE? I hope so. We aren't asking folks to take up arms. But this IS our revolution. And we have a very small window to get it done. Would like your help.
.
ARE YOU IN?

Best
Kim

Thank you Gilbert for the friend request. And thanks for the work you do. I understand that you come down on the side of solar.
I'm hoping that by putting all of our options together it will get us off foreign that much sooner!
Thanks! Carol

I am glad to be part of your network. If there is anything I can do please feel free to contact me. My main focus at this point in time is to work with my local, state and fed reps at getting support for distributive power generation appropriate to the location. If you don't mind, I may contact you in the future to get some information regarding solar.

Acciona Solar Power is very nice, but still a foreign national company. While I appreciate local labor hires, the profits are leaving the U.S. as much as oil profits. Certainly not to a hostile nation, but this sort of construction should be done entirely by US based companies for national security reasons.

On the other hand, you should carpet the entire Sahara with Solar, and from there power the entire Mediterranian coast & North Africa too.
