Pickens and Pelosi, making money the old fashion way...

Hey Team Pickens...can I get in on the cherry pick IPOs of your company too?...Pelosi will make sure oil (sorry, still a whole lot around) stays high and we can make money off the market. The little guy will have to pay more, but hey, we're saving the planet, we can do anything in the name of saving the planet, right? Even unnecessarily lower the average folk's standard of living. Won't effect Pelosi and Pickens though, they is making money big time!

My blog entry was about conservation, and how all of us can learn ways to use less, and help our country become less dependant on foreign oil.

You counter my ideas by going on with the "global warming is a hoax, we need to use oil" point...

It seems to me like you are ignoring the positive merits of conservation, and just seizing the opportunity to jump on your pro-oil soap-box.

You have a point you want to make, I have one too... I've conceded your point about global warming. I disagree, but I know that its not an argument I'll be able to win. I'm pretty sure any sources I give you will be dismissed (because you've seen them already, I'll bet)

Anyway, you still havent addressed my main points. I'm fairly sure we'll need to use oil for a while... why not use less? On a personal level, and on a national level, whats wrong with conservation if its cost-effective?

I've increased my gas mileage by about 15%, and I've lowered my electric bill by somewhere around 10%. If Mr. Pickens can help lower our national dependance on foreign oil by even a little but, its a good thing.

You still have done nothing to address any of that.

I'm sorry my comment on your forum came off a little more nasty than I intended... I was trying to say that you really should check your grammar. It really does detract from any points you are trying to make. I'm sorry the way in which I said it came off as a personal attack.

Hey man... I know we're gonna have to agree to disagree on the whole global warming issue... I'm not gonna try to sway you on that... I'm sure smarter people than myself have tried.

HOWEVER

None of your points address the political and national security benefits of being less dependant on foreign oil, especially when that oil is from a region that is so volatile.

None of your points address the fact that lowering your electric bill by conserving energy is an easily achievable thing.

None of your points address how saving money by increasing your gas mileage is also an easily achievable thing.

Give ME the truth...

The same people who are shouting "global warming" are the same ones that were yelling 'global ice age' back in the 1970s.

Drill domestic oil reserves NOW, we could be like Brazil---from oil importer to exporter and probably joining OPEC. That would reduce dependance on foreign oil. I've been conserving energy before it was fashionable. Why? Economic incentive. I believe in freedom, not coercion for Government. Higher gas prices hurt working people, not rich elitests who don't give a crap. We have a two card monte running for president. One who doesn't understand things and the other who is an outright socialistic elitist who surrounds himself with idiotic racists. Two losers! How can ordinary folk win?

Its pretty clear based on what I've read that while climate change is a natural thing, we are accellerating it to some degree. We apparently have different sources.

However, none of your points address the political and national security benefits of being less dependant on foreign oil, especially when that oil is from a region that is so volatile.

Also, none of your points address the fact that lowering your electric bill by conserving energy is an easily achievable thing... and none of your points address how saving money by increasing your gas mileage is also an easily achievable thing...

Conservation only is no energy policy? It sure helps. To not believe so is foolish... some ways to lower your energy bill, increase your gas mileage (both will save you money) and live a little healthier by using less energy are outlined in my blog entry... http://push.pickensplan.com/forum/topic/show?id=2187034%3ATopic%3A193424

I agree that we will continue to use oil and other fossil fuesl for alot of things. I do however, see the political sense in using less... use a little more wind and solar to supplement our oil use so we are a little bit less dependant on imported oil from the middle east.

Aside from all the global warming stuff (apparently you dont believe in global warming... we can agree to disagree there... I'm not gonna get into a debate with you about that, I know I cant change your mind and you cant change mine) The political benefits and the national security benefits of being somewhat less dependant on foreign oil are obvious (especially when you consider that the foreign oil is largely coming from a region that is pretty volatile.)

I believe we learn more from those we disagree with than we learn from those we agree with... I hope you can be involved in a fact-based discussion without getting offended or getting personal.
