Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Part of my childhood I was in Scandinavia where my father was from. For many years in the 60's, 70's and 80's I watched the harnassing of waterfalls and Hydro Power to create electricity to service entire towns, villages and small cities. Wind power in the Western States and now a similar site on the shore of Lake Erie here in the Cleveland Area. Solar power in Colorado and other "green alternatives" are a fantastic way to cut our dependency on others and become more self sufficient and cleaner in the process. I have personally had experience with these types of alternatives and THEY DO WORK...and we are all the better for it.
What excites you about this campaign?
To see our communities become cleaner, safer, more self sufficient and move into a socially, economically, eco-friendly and responsible position is very exciting. We can do it and we need to start now. If we had made this move years ago... we would be in a much better place today. THE TIME IS NOW!
What do you want to do to help?
I would like to motivate and excite and organize people about the Pickens Plan- Show everyone a small way that they can do something to move us in the proper direction toward a more energy self sufficient community.

Please check out the Haynesville movie's page here on the Pickens Army site.

http://push.pickensplan.com/group/thehaynesvillemovie

I want to get a Haynesville "street team" going to get the film into
communities across the country via house parties and community
screenings. The movie is a great way to educate people as to the
potential of natural gas as a clean, domestic energy source/fuel. So
many people said they were not good at community outreach because they
didn't know what to say. Well, this film does the talking for you!!!

It is an independently produced film which means it is a grassroots
film for a grassroots organization! I'd like all State and District
Leaders to get a copy. We have all worked very hard on this movement
and I think this film will make our job even easier. Please tell your
friends on and off the web about the film via your blog or website and
please get your own copy of the DVD to show to people in your area
such as your friends and family, schools, churches, business groups,
etc.

Here is a link to a press release about the film:

Here is the DVD purchase page which also has cool t-shirts and movie
posters. :-)

OK DISTRICT 10 ARMY Let's get this done...It is officially go time - time to test the strength of the Army. Next Wednesday, Congress will vote on the stimulus package, which includes wind energy elements. This is the first step in making the Pickens Plan become reality. We need to take action to let Congress know we are serious about wind energy and the stimulus package.

****THIS IS IMPORTANT DO IT NOW, Don't Wait... The vote is Wednesday!
If you do nothing else, I need you to call your members of Congress (House member and both Senators) and ask them to vote YES on the stimulus package.
Here are the numbers....
Congress-
Kucinich, Dennis J. OH10 202-225-5871
OH Senators
Sherrod Brown (202) 224-2315 & George V.Voinovich(202)-224-3353

Please just post a comment that you have contacted any of these offices, you could be the inspiration for somone else to MAKE THE CALL!. I have included ALL the local contact information below for reference. Feel free to post any responses you have received so the rest of us can stay up to speed with the results and comments coming from our representatives.

Here are some other thoughts to keep in mind-
This is the first big phase of action in making the Pickens Plan become reality. We have been building the Army for months in anticipation. Now is the time for us all to be heard.
Thanks for your support and doing your part as a member of the Army. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help.

Here are a few points for discussion...if you want to do or say more-
***When calling Members of Congress urge them to tell House Leadership that their constituents support the wind energy elements included in the Stimulus Bill which will build upon 2008's successes in the wind energy sector:
***Tell them you support extension of the Production Tax Credit and
***Implementation of a renewable infrastructure loan program
***Please tell them we hope they're willing to doing more on the natural gas side and provide the incentives that will greatly expand the use of domestic natural gas as a vehicle fuel in America. We are also interested in expanded use of NGVs (natural gas vehicles) that will help wean us off of foreign oil and create new American jobs.
These incentives will include but are not limited to
* Increasing the vehicle tax credit to make natural gas trucks more accessible for heavy and medium duty truck operators
* Extending the fuel tax credit

Tell them The Pickens Plan works best as a whole plan—wind and natural gas—and we hope Members of Congress will support that.

Thanks again... stay in touch!
Ginger

Here's a quick way to submit a question to the Obama-Biden transition team about their energy plans for 2009 and to push the Pickens plan.

Click here for a link to Change.gov where they are soliciting questions from you and asking you to vote (up or down) on questions submitted by others. The response to the first round of questions was overwhelming, so they are attempting a second round.

If you prefer to cut and paste...here it is- http://change.gov/page/content/openforquestions20081229/

Don't say...I'll do it later...DO IT NOW! ASK THE IMPORTANT QUESTION...DO YOU SUPPORT THE PICKENS PLAN?

Hi Ginger,

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining the Pickens Plan. I just wanted to let you know that a real person out here appreciates you taking that first step.

After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to guide your path. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and when you are comfortable, letting others know about the website. The people here are interested in making the plan a success and those you invite should be able to see for themselves that this is the right place to be.

Here are further steps you might consider.

- Sign up to lead or help on the District page.
- Visit the My Energy page and get involved.
- Work your contacts to increase press coverage.
- Write to congressional representatives directly.
- Use Pickens Action buttons or call (202)225-3121.
- Speak out for ending our dependence on foreign oil.
- Write letters to the editor of your local paper.
- Download flyers/etc from here or here.
- Download the Petition and ask others to sign it.
- Start a company to build wind turbines/solar panels.
- Start a financing firm to invest in those companies.
- Tell everyone you know about PickensPlan.com.

Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something.

Welcome once again and thanks for signing up.

Clynton
