Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Not much. Used to have a solar heated home (supplemental). Have been reading.
What excites you about this campaign?
Number of supporters that, together, may actually be able to do something and force our legislative and executive branches to take action, instead of just talking about it at a slow and unenthusiastic pace.
What do you want to do to help?
Not sure.

Wind + Electric, not natural gas.

Wind is good. Don't like idea of natural gas for cars... another fossil fuel; prefer electric. I disagree with the natural gas for cars, that’s just another fossil fuel with similar issues to oil but I definitely agree with wind. Pickens stands to gain a lot personally as he owns a multitude of acres that are proposed to put windmills on. At least it’s a plan. I think electric from solar and wind for cars is the way to go, not natural gas. Anyway, it’s a start. All the best, Tom

Welcome to PickensPlan! Enjoy our site and make it yours, bring some friends, make some new friends. Help us get our governments off oil.
Check out a new elecrtic airplane at www.CoolingEarth.org
The future is ours! I am working on 11 new solar projects in N California.
With a good energy plan, we drill now, the oil is available for 15 years, so in 7 or so years we can be a net exporting nation again which helps pay for our renewable energy to solve climate change- HaveFun

Hi Hartwell

Glad to connect with you again! Need your help.

I know that we are friends, and you get email updates from me, however, I think this is so important, I am reaching out personally.

I AM CREATING A "100 CLUB"... members that have faxed in 100 or more signed pledges. So many thousands of people signed onto this site and said they would do "anything" or "everything" to help. Here is your chance!

We have the mechanism to build our numbers, we need to use it. Pledges are a very easiest ask- Boone has done the hard work. All we need to do is hitch our wagon to his horse and plow to the finish. I have sent in 240 so far. The office has recieved thousands, we need millions.

It comes down to.... DO WE HAVE THE FORTITUDE to really go the distance on this? I sure hope so. We aren't asking folks to take up arms. But, THIS IS OUR REVOLUTION. And we have a very small window to get it done. I would like your help.

Are you able to help us fight for this? Are you in?
Best,
Kim

Just 10 a day for 10 days! For our energy future, isn't it worth it?

One of the problem with a non-fossil fuel car currently is that the technology does not exist to power a battery-charged car for more than 30-40 miles (most cars are topping out at 20) without a recharge (which can take 4-8 hours). The idea of battery switch stations would produce enough batteries to overwhelm our landfills and waste processing and recycling centers within five years.
Another issue is that if we do have battery driven vehicles, where is the electricty coming from? If we snapped our fingers and went battery on our cars, we would need more coal and natural gas to fire up the power plants to meet the needs.
CNG stations exist currently (although sparsely), and there are even attachments to hook up a filling nozzle to your home natural gas line. This can get us off of foreign oil now.
You are right about sustainability of this proposal, we must get this plan underway now and simultaneously begin working on phase two which I am sure will incude electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles and electric power generation from thermo, hydro, nuclear, etc. But all of these programs will take many years to develop and implement, and America will be bankrupt and possibly defunct by that time if we do not hault the wealth transference that is occuring every year. My grandfather was a child of the depression and used to tell me to never be so arrogant as to think that it couldn't happen to me. 'Nothing, not even America is invincible.'

Hi Hartwell, I view the use of CNG (compressed natural gas) for vehicle fuel as an interim step with the ultimum goal being a switch to non fossil fuel vehicles. This will take us awhile technologically but in the meantime we wean ourselves off oil and use alot less coal to generate electricity - both huge steps in the right direction if we want to act on climate change before the problems become prohibitively expensive to correct.

Tom,
I agree with you completely and feel we should focus on wind, solar, geothermal and any other non fossil fuel and non polluting option we can. My preference would be to see the automotive fleet in the U.S. change directly to non carbon options. However, I fear that goal may be somewhat overly ambitious and the interim step to natural gas may be necessary. If you find any legitimate groups pursuing this more ambitious goal please do share.

Thanks,
SMH

Hi

I am also stronger on the wind component. I do think, however,
we have never had someone this connected really publicly push
for Wasington to start moving faster toward less dependance on foreign oil. I want to help build his momentum until it is a wave they can not ignore. Because of high prices at the pump we have a short window of opportunity where the majority of Americans are fed up and "get it" . We have a shrt atention span... we need to capitalize now, or we may be looking in the rearview mirror like we have before.

Thanks for your interest. For some reason we have only been adding 1,000 members per day. No nearly enough.
I have been emailing every new member for 5 days. "yesterday we added close to 2,000. That's a big improvement, but completely inadequate. I think the site does not make it easy enough to understand how to join. I have personally spoken with people who were trying to join after they read about it and still did not see the little "join" blue line at the bottom of the text of the plan.

What if everyone put a downloadable message in the window of their car.... "700 billion dollars a year to foreign oil! Stop the largest transfer of wealth in the history of mankind... to our enemies. Join www.pickensplan.com."

Every car passes thousands of others daily. Guerrila ,marketing at it's best.

We also need to get this on talk radio, newspapers, we need to give it more noise.

Have a great day.

Thanks for your views Alan! I too am a lay person relevant to many. I view electric as better any fossil fuel that pollutes the planet, as we can obtain much electricity from solar and wind. That said, there's a very interesting research study on biofuel that may be worth a quick view: http://www.naturalnews.com/023378.html. In particular, listen to the last sentence in the video. Obviously, this is just one of many fuel alternatives that we can make/use in an economical fashion. It's going to take all of us throwing ideas out there until something sticks. Wind has got to be a long-term no-brainer, even though it's a HUGE investment, for which Pickens would love to get the government "grant" money to start using his acres :-). That's not to say I disagree with pursuing the wind solution, just that we all need to have eyes open to the fact that Pickens stands to gain huge, financially, should this plan be pursued. Cheers! Here's hoping everyone keeps the gray matter juices flowing!!! All the best, Tom

yes, my friend i support the ultimate no negatives to any solution...for now I support natural gas because we and the Canadians have much. We need coal for steel production. Nuclear is scary but maybe the best. Even hydrogen cars maybe netter than NG but infrastructure more diff. I am completely a layman armed only with thoughts and not all the facts.

Best,

Alan
