Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Last year I informed my company I could save them $3000 a year in fuel cost if they switch my Subaru (25mpg) to a Toyota Prius (50mpg) and they listened. Today I average 50mpg which I consider in the Top 3 percentile of all drivers in the US and I am tied for number 2 in our companies' MPG performance.

I would like GM to finally "get it" and release an electric vehicle ASAP, but we need Mr. Pickens 22% Natural gas capacity to supplement the demand to power the electric vehicles.

Recently I attended a "Green Technology Conference" in Sacramento, CA and discussed with a solar vender out of Arizona that residential solar power was too costly for the average homeowner. His response, if cost is an issue for you (or any consumer) solar energy is not for you. What a fool, solar is probably one of the top natural resources in California. Ironically, SolarCity.com launched a campaign at that conference to promote a "Solar Lease" program to make solar energy attainable for someone other than the elite. Who do you think will be successful, the gentleman from Arizona or SolarCity.com? I have a passion for alternative energy, but my motive is similar to Mr. Pickens to move America into the future and remove the strangle hold of our dependency on oil. Ouch, I hope Mr. Pickens does not take offense to this statement, but I believe we choose a path in life that is convenient and comfortable without realizing what are the true consequences of our actions. Then luckily someday we may awaken and see a new vision for the future that takes the best interest of society into consideration as we rise above our own self interest.
What excites you about this campaign?
Finally, Mr. Pickens has the power to take on the political will of the country and challenge some old paradigms. The irony is just unbelievable as the Icon of Big Oil; Mr. Pickens is promoting a campaign to move USA to dependency on domestically developed energy sufficiency. I applaud his efforts and will do all I can do to promote the Pickens Plan. As a nation, we simply cannot live with business as usual!

I lived thru the oil embargo of the 1970s and wondered what have we learn from that situation. From a national perspective we learned very little from this experience since we improved fuel efficiency for vehicles, but did not see a need to drastically alter our behavior. We wanted large cars and as a country we did not care about living with 15 MPG until we pay $4.00 for a gallon of gas and it cost over $100 for a tank of gas for our SUVs. Translate that cost to $700 billion a year for foreign oil is alarming.

Any effort to reverse the dependency on foreign oil is greatly appreciated. However, we must develop energy dependency balancing the risk to benefit in terms of our environmental concerns. As such, I eagerly support wind and solar alternatives. I believe alternative energy is the wave of the future and I love to surf the wave of energy self-sufficiency with Mr. Pickens.

Write Your Congressional Representative Soliciting Their Support of the Pickens' Plan

Attached is a sample letter as you may google the email address of your Congressional Representatives.

Dear Senator Boxer:

I sincerely appreciate the hard work of you and your staff this year as we have been faced with many complex issues. My previous correspondence addressed the fading American Dream of home ownership, affording college education for our children, and our over indulgence of consumerism. Thanks to your efforts, policies are addressing the housing foreclosure crisis and impending student loan crisis, but as individuals we must reject marketing that encourages consuming as a means of achieving self-fulfillment.

Unfortunately, if all these challenges were not enough, we as Americans must adopt a “National Energy Policy.” Our dependency on foreign oil is probably at the root of our involvement in Iraq. At this time, I request you and your staff to consider the validity of the PickenPlan.com. I am a bit leery of an oil tycoon professing a National Energy Policy, but his plan has a great deal of merit. The transfer of American wealth to the tune of $700 billion annually for foreign oil will bankrupt our country and my fears of the fading American Dream will be realized. Needless to say, I do not support opening up the pristine California Coast for crude oil exploration. It is time to change the paradigm and develop a plan that rids our country of our dependency on crude oil. I hope you support the full utilization of solar and wind power to reduce our dependency on foreign oil as these are very abundant clean and green resources in California.

Your support of a National Energy Policy is greatly appreciated! I am counting on you once again to lead the way in congress to address meaningful legislature that prudently addresses our energy requirements while improving the air quality in California while eliminating our dependency on foreign crude oil.

Sincerely,

Hunter Johnson

Morning Hunter!

Enjoyed your post to Boone on the Corning partnership.

Need your help.

Obama has said that we will be off Middle Eastern oil in 10 years. WE MUST make sure Congress gets the message!

Will you gather supporters with petitions? We only have 15 days until Congress is sworn in. Time is of the essence.

Here is the petition:
http://media.pickensplan.com/downloads/PP/pollingsignupsheet.pdf

NO INFLUENCE WITHOUT NUMBERS

I have been able to gather hundreds with a simple sentence -
"I am collecting signatures of support for T. Boone PIckens plan to get us off of foreign oil and onto American solutions" then put the petition in front of them. EVERYONE wants to get off foreign oil, we just need to add them to our list!

Please stop by and let me know how it goes. WE CAN DO THIS!
Let me know if I can help in any way.

Best,
Kim

Hunter-
Been hot and smokey? Us too. We're looking for a home in Santa Rosa (from Reno) and drive by you almost every week!
With Bush lifting the executive ban on off-shore drilling and rejecting the lowering of greenhouse gases, we need more people like Pickens. It's heartening to see how quickly this movement is growing and creating connections across the country.
Good statements in your profile.
