Shortage

It wasn't long ago( appx.5 yrs) one winter our natural gas prices spiked(almost doubled) due to what we were told were shortages. Several towns in California had very little supply, if any. Obviously, by adding government(and possible private) vehicles to the mix the demand for cng will increase significantly. Prices will increase unless we have adequate supply. How do we keep our governments vehicles filled AND provide adequate supplies for our homes while maintaining prices that will not empty… Continue

Private and Public CNG Filling Stations

Are there any government regulations against placing natural gas pumps in close proximity to gasoline/diesel fuel pumps? If not, it seems gasoline vendors could add new tanks and pumps for cng with relatively little expense so that the private sector could benefit as well.

Haven't seen you around in a while. Saw you r posting on Mike Picken's page. Have very passionate and heard working "friends". Would like for you to join us. I founded the Welcome Wagon to greet the last 100,000 new members. I will be working on petitons for PIckens when they hit the street. Want to be ready to roll with the leaders when it happens.

Best,
Kim

So glad you are here.
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan.
Please bring 5 folks to join the site today, so that we can build a big enough voice that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interest, who will certainly try to derail this historic effort.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Write to your Congressman/woman. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan. Print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window.

A GROUP FOR EVERYONE
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, scientists, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.

PLEASE FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch. I do updates on new member numbers and will be helping with a petition drive soon.

Thanks again for joining us.

Hi Hutch, Thank you for adding me a friend, the more the better. I liked your take on CNG etc.

also a PHiLL home refueling appliance puts gas at about $1- to $1.50 per gge(gas gallon equivalent) when you fill up at home, so hopefully thats the way most of us will move in the next 1-2-5-7 years til half the fleet is CNG and then in years 8-15 peoples next cars will be electric , and by that time hopefully all "energy stations" will have CNG, Electric and one old and rusting petrol-gas pump...lol... we can only hope. Thanks again, Regards, Kurt

Hi Hutch.......thank you for joining! Where do we start? For a wealth of information, we can look to Europe as our model for developing sustainable renewable energy. Countries like Denmark, Germany and Spain lead the way in this effort and have been there for the past 10-20 years - even more. Germany’s commitment through cooperatives and local municipalities has installed 19,000+ wind turbines and millions of solar collectors, both for solar hot water and electricity.

The onshore and offshore installation of wind turbines in Denmark is producing 20% of all their electrical needs; in Spain, as much as 38% (please see examples in the photos on my page).

I mention these examples to give us a direction for inspiration and point to where we could be heading with the Pickens Plan. The technology is already there and we do not have to reinvent the wheel. These are a few of the websites I would suggest you visit to see what other have done and are doing:

1) 1) The Solar Village – Freiburg, Germany. See: http://www.thesolarvillage.com/
2) The Folkecenter for Renewable Energy – Denmark.
See: http://www.folkecenter.net/gb/overview/publications/
Under VARIOUS, read: The transition from Fossil Fuels to the Renewable Energies
The whole website is excellent and you could spend hours there.
3) Google: Samso, Denmark. This is an island off the coast of Denmark that is completely self-sustaining. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/07/080707fa_fact_kolbert
4) Read the article written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. titled: “Global Warming: A Real Solution”

Here are a few great videos to see: “Saved by the Sun” a PBS NOVA video, and “A Crude Awakening” by Basil Gemlpke, et al. Americans need to mobilize and pressure our government representatives both on the state and national level. The Pickens Plan is a good place to foster discussion and share ideas and PUSH this plan! We can all share in this vital common cause. Good luck in your quest for a better more secure America….. Lee

Just joined after attending the first town hall meeting in Topeka, KS. The "Plan" seems reasonable but I'll need to do more research. I always try to find out what someone has to gain from their investments. Boone has invested heavily in this project but, regardless of the incentives, it appears it will work. I wouldn't deny anyone profit if it helps better our society.
