Hi JO ANN , THANK YOU for your reply in response to my recent Michigan FairTax post. For this movement to gain mass attention, we need to build an army capable of garnering 500,000 Michigander signatures in late 2009 / early 2010 in order to qualify for the 2010 November election. Having a list of over 20,000 members - and growing daily, we are now focusing on developing computer-using members for reasons discussed below.

Register email; request Wiki access to get active
Adding your email to our list gives us an indication of interest. We do not email state-wide very often - and, in fact, are moving mission to a new private "wiki" for those who wish to help the effort beyond spreading the word to family and friends.

Don't know what a "wiki" is? Take 4 minutes to view this excellent little video vignette. We are moving to a wiki, over email, because it's...

- permission-based you must "request access"
- a more powerful project-creation and coordination tool
- subscriber-run, "bottom-up" command and control

To recap: Act by "joining our army" as an interested Michigander. You'll receive an immediate confirmation email. Then, shortly thereafter, you'll receive our formal welcoming email which will also provide you with a link to our Community Leadership Wiki, where you can volunteer for leadership, or simply participate in Functional Areas support.

Together, you and I will restore a tax system that serves Michigan's workers and businesses, instead of serving politicians and lobbyists.

Hi Jo Ann, I'm the state Internal Communication Director for the Michigan FairTax Assn which works "hand in glove" with goals of the Pickens Plan because by REPLACING the Michigan income tax, families and businesses will have additional disposable monthly income to make energy improvements to their homes and businesses.

For The Facts- End income tax returns, audits, interest, penalties and 1/2 the lobbyists in LansingHow will passage of a MI FairTax do this? It will REPLACE the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale). This means that no more state tax will be withheld from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks. What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size. This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending. The MI FairTax rate is 0% on all monthly spending to the poverty level; thereafter it's 9.75%. The average effective rate will be around 5.5% (see p.2 of pdf brochure). Please join our email list to learn how you can help advance the Michigan FairTax and facilitate Pickens Plan goals!

Merry Christmas JO,
This year I have helped so many members learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about power use, conservation, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my energy costs. Send me a friend request a to add me JO, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.

BTW, Michigan: I just posted an article on my page about Home Wind Systems in Michigan. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "soft policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. You should read that article, important.

Hi Jo Ann

Today is the day, for all who believe in their hearts that we can do this, to get 10 signed pledges! Will you print off 10 pledges, get them signed and fax them back? The clock is ticking and it is time for us to ramp it up. Tap into that moment when you first saw this and thought, "WOW, this could really happen", go out of your comfort zone a bit and get it done. We have less than 80 days until inauguration day- to create our own destiny. We have incredible momentum - WILL YOU PLEASE GET 10 TODAY?!

Will you pass this on to your friends AND participate, please

Thank you and Best,
Kim

Imagine if our forefathers had it this easy?

Hi Hi,

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining the Pickens Plan. I just wanted to let you know that a real person out here appreciates you taking that first step.

After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to guide your path. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and when you are comfortable, letting others know about the website. The people here are interested in making the plan a success and those you invite should be able to see for themselves that this is the right place to be.

Here are further steps you might consider.

Many are:
- working their contacts to increase press and blog coverage.
- Using the Red button on the main page or calling (202)225-3121.
- writing to their congressional representatives directly.
- Asking Congress if they support renewable energy in 10 years.
- Speaking out on behalf of ending dependence on foreign oil.
- writing letters to the editor of their local paper(s).
- downloading flyers and plastering their cars and businesses.
- downloading the Pledge (top) and asking others to sign up.
- starting companies to build wind turbines and solar panels.
- starting capital/financing firms to invest in these companies.
- telling everyone they know about PickensPlan.com.

Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something.

Welcome once again and thanks for signing up.

Clynton
