Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
As a past board of trustees member of Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas, I was involved in attracting wind generation companies to locate in Scurry County, Texas. Currently, my wife and I are representatives for the Green Mountain Energy Network. We educate and encourage Texas residents to become users of wind-generated electricity. http://www.valeriegreene.gmrep.com or http://dvdpreview.gmrep.com
What excites you about this campaign?
This campaign strikes at the heart of the important issue of this country's indebtedness due to overseas oil. The switch to natural gas for transportation purposes has multiple benefits for our environment and lessens our dependence on foreign oil. This project will also have a very positive impact on the tax base of many rural communities.
What do you want to do to help?
I am very interested in becoming an area organizer. I will continue my campaign to educate Texas residents on the importance of wind-generated electricity and I will accomplish this by using the information provided in the Pickens Plan.

What would Charlie Russell say?

I grew up in Scurry Co. in Texas. The drive from Snyder to Post has always been one of my favorites. I always thought that if Charlie Russell had seen it, he would have painted it. And I wish that he had.

My grandfather was a boy when CW Post was building Post City. My great grandfather was a freighter. He and my grandfather, Bill, hauled lumber from the rail head in Colorado City to Post by horse and wagon. They would spend the night on top of the caprock. Then in the morning, they would chain… Continue

Happy New Year Jackie,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Jackie, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.

BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.

Jackie,

How are you doing with GMEN, by the way? Glad to see you are a rep as well. Have you been on any of the conference calls lately?

Thanks,
Bob

Hello, Jackie. I noticed you live in Wimberley and so do I. I graduated from UT back in 1973 and made the fatal mistake of moving back to Dallas where there was a j-o-b waiting for me. In October of 2006 I finally realized my lifelong dream and moved to the hill country here in Wimberley.

I noticed you are "in" the wind energy business. I would really like to discuss the feasibility of it for my house. Is that possible? I'm not sure how this site works since I just joined, but feel to contact me at donwheeler@hotmail.com.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Jackie: I have a story that paralells yours. I new a man who was a tank gager ( person that takes inventory of Tanks) at one of the then major oil refineries in Port Arthur Texas. He told me his job had become very easy during that same period of time in the 70's. Every tank he checked he marked as full. All were gasoline. Even tanks that were not normaly for storing gasoline but were technicaly capable of storing gasoline. They cleaned them up and filled them. Ships were reported to be staged off shore emptied of crude into the refinery, cleaned and used as gasoline storage. It kind of reinforces what you were told. Funny how when gasoline goes up a dollar were all down the mouth but we get all giddy when it goes back down a quarter. It realy dos'nt matter if they were cheating us then, or now. We need to cut the apron strings that tie us to the Big oil companies and while we are at it lets cut out this 700 billion dollar a year drain on our economy. I might add that the 700 Billion is just for the crude. I believe I'm right in saying that many of the refineries in this country are now owned by forigners.

Well Jackie I like the plan it sure took long enough for someone to come foward and it sure looks like it is getting alot of attention in the right places.. He sure tricked those Democrats when they thought he was only going to speak about the iol drilling business.. He said it all and was for all and ole Harry Reid just had the most disgusted look ever on a human face.. Of course I just giggled out loud.. So I am going to support this plan to the enth, because we have no choice... I do not want to send anymore money overseas for sure for what we can produce here at home... I would love to have a wind turbine. I have five acres so plenty of room for even 2-3 I think???
