Hi Jamie, I have been pushing for the sell of US Treasury "Energy Independence Savings Bonds". Savings bonds are normally purchased in $25 increments. This gives a way for just about any American to tighten their belts just a bit by skipping a meal at McDonalds or Pizza Hut and buying a RE savings bond to support a renewable energy project and save money at the same time for themselves. I need help pushing this project, I've faxed and emailed many in Congress/Senate already.If you agree with this plan please consider passing to other people in your district as it will be a great tool to get funding for PickensPlan projects. This is a way to help and give tools to all of us for getting more RE projects started. I believe if just one fax could make it to the Presidents desk or Vice Presidents desk (fax numbers listed on web page of course) we may have a chance he may say “make it happen” to the US Secretary of Treasury. My email is ke6cvh@yahoo.com. Here is a copy of a fax sent to Nancy Pelosi yesterday:
27FEB09

Honorable Speaker of the House Congresswoman Pelosi,

I am an Electronic Technician Chief in the US Navy with 27 years service stationed overseas. I’m outlying an idea to assist and work with current plans for achieving energy independence. I urge you, as speaker of the house and the driving force to form the select committee on energy independence and global warming, consider for discussion and introduction into the house US Treasury Savings Bonds for Energy Independance.
In WWII America sold war bonds supporting the war effort. When young, my mother told me her primary school raised enough money through bonds to build a tank to support troops. I am impressed with the patriotism and purpose of our greatest generation that accomplished so much.

Selling energy bonds for RE (Renewable Energy) development would lower foreign oil imports and assist with the complex problem of funding. Bonds sold as “Energy S” could support new solar trough plants, “Energy W” to support wind farms, Energy “H” to support hydroelectric plants, Energy “T” to support RE transportation such as electric bullet train routes powered by RE, Energy "C" COOPS for small communities only needing a small quantity of turbines, and Energy “I” for needed infrastructure high voltage power lines to the RE site. Bonds will have the project name and include an artist’s perspective of the project and an American flag. President Obama had great success with the internet during his campaign. In a similar manner, using the internet, energy bonds could have a website listing current projects and an “electronic checkout” could purchase a bond $25 or higher. Simpler methods of payment such as “PAYPAL” and credit cards would be available and after an electronic purchase is complete a color print out of the bond is available with a follow up of the bond in the mail. The website would limit quantity of projects for each category until funding is complete. After a project becomes funded, a new project will be available. A tab on the site will show history and status of previous projects. Purchasers may take great pride in “collecting” and displaying bonds of various RE projects and participating at different levels of financial support. Solar trough plants in the multi-hundred MW size capacity with molten salt energy storage in California, Arizona, and West Texas can provide a major portion of electric needs. North Dakota has potential to support 1/3 of our nations electric needs in it’s class 4 wind zone areas. There are plenty of suitable proposed wind turbine farms now around the nation to significantly increase our RE if funded. Mid sized hydro-electric has not been used in America to it’s full potential. Following the example of our neighbor, Canada, it would provide a significant increase in percentage of electric production. Developing all three we could provide the majority of our electric and heating needs through renewable energy in a "New New Deal" fashion allowing natural gas for transportation as T. Boone Pickens is working for. Bullet train routes have proven a viable alternative to commercial domestic air service and when powered by electricity provided by RE suppliers America would be in the forefront of world technology. Example, I heard of discussion for a commuter train from Denver to Colorado Springs. Such a route built as a renewable energy project with charter requirement legally requiring to only purchase electricity from available renewable energy sources would be a model example. There are many train routes, city bus systems, and government vehicles that can be converted to run from alternative energy sources and fuels. Jobs created would bolster the economy, lower trade deficit, and strengthen national security. I would take great pride in print outs of bonds with graphics of each project I supported and many other Americans would also. The energy bonds could have tax breaks. BLM lands may be a viable place to start for some projects.

I contacted the US treasury department and was told that the marketing department for savings bonds closed several years ago. I was told there would be problems because savings bonds are at the federal level while the projects will be at the state and local level. I disagree and believe that these can easily be figured out in the way of grants to the state and local level using money from the bonds for those specific projects. I was told to check out auctions on the www.treasurydirect.gov website and found them to not apply to citizens wanting to buy savings bonds to support a cause such as energy independance. I was told by the treasury department to look into CREB (Clean Renewable Energy Bonds). I found CREB to be large scale funding that a citizen would not be able to participate in as a US Treasury Energy Independance Bond would provide. If given the tools to participate directly, the power of the citizens of the United States to help achieve energy independance could not be denied. Americans mean well and the Energy Independance Savings bond program will give citizens the power at their level to make it happen. If marketed through a web page, commercials, and to federal employees the word would get out and participation would spread like wildfire.

Mr. Paul Gipe, a resident of Bakersfield CA, an author of several books about wind energy, and recipient of multiple awards as a pioneer in the industry since the 1970's has put a letter I wrote to Senator Dorgan on this subject as well as an older letter I wrote on wind COOP in JAN07. Jamie, you wrote, "I'm trying to rally support in my area for the plan, who in the district will work with me? "

What do we do next. I am in Pickerington (the eastern leg of this gerrymandered mess).

Best,
Mike

Welcome!
We are a voluntary community of individuals who are placing our combined support behind T. Boone Pickens and his efforts to send our government a clear (heard) message that we must reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil through the use of all domestic energy alternatives. This site is a place to interact with fellow Pickens Plan supporters, keep up with events and opportunities to help get more involvement.
Please, I ask the first sites you visit to get accurate info and articles to see pretty much what the plan is about and where the plan stands. Some are long, please; take the time to get all the details.
On the home page, click on About The Plan ~ Boone Cam ~ Blog
Our future is focus 1- at this point in time! If not now, When? If not you, WHO?
~~~~~~to quote, Earl Scharff, from RI,~~~~~~~
~~~~~"FOR INFLUENCE, YOU NEED NUMBERS!"~~~~~

Mr. Obama has voiced that eliminating the dependence of foreign oil is a top priority.
[Click here], to enter your zip code and be paired up with members in your area. If you want to be a leader for your area, you can also sign up on that page. If you would rather wait on a leader role, that’s ok we need helpers. An organization cannot be all chiefs.
There is a group for almost everything. The Forums/discussions on this site are many and you’ll probably find something that interests or concerns you. Some are very long and were started months ago. For the ones that concern you, please keep in mind, events are remembered and relayed differently by those commenting, which as we all too well know equals at least three sides to the event.
After you have read the sites I mentioned, if you need anything else to help you, while you help the push, please stop by. I am proud to put my efforts towards this cause.

This is an easy first task I ask of you-
~~~~~~~PLEASE TAKE A PETITION TO WORK TODAY!~~~~~~
I am asking everyone to please take petitions to school or work or wherever you are going today! Everyone wants to get off of foreign oil; we just need to gather their names. WE CAN DO THIS, with everyone’s help. [Click here] for the Petition, then copy or print 4 or 5 and ask everyone to help, better everyone's future.
Again, Welcome; Tom- Welcome wagon crew!
Hi Jamie,
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining the Pickens Plan. I just wanted to let you know that a real person out here appreciates you taking that first step.
After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to guide your path. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and when you are comfortable, letting others know about the website. The people here are interested in making the plan a success and those you invite should be able to see for themselves that this is the right place to be.
Here are further steps you might consider.
- Sign up to lead or help on the District page.
- Visit the My Energy page and get involved.
- Work your contacts to increase press coverage.
- Write to congressional representatives directly.
- Use Pickens Action buttons or call (202)225-3121.
- Speak out for ending our dependence on foreign oil.
- Write letters to the editor of your local paper.
- Download flyers/etc from here or here.
- Download the Petition and ask others to sign it.
- Start a company to build wind turbines/solar panels.
- Start a financing firm to invest in those companies.
- Tell everyone you know about PickensPlan.com.
Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something.
Welcome once again, Happy Holidays and thanks for signing up.
Profile Information
Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have no experience with alternative energy, but I believe from what information I've found that like Boone says we all need to get educated and start working toward cutting our dependence on foreign oil. Our economy is driven by people spending money on American products and services. foreign oil doesn't help feed our economy
What excites you about this campaign?
In dark times people need a leader and a cause to believe in, this cause is something that will help America in the long run and it also has potential to create jobs which will make our country stronger.
What do you want to do to help?
I'd be willing to do whatever I can to advance the agenda of the Pickens Plan
My Friends,
I'm often asked what I think of the economic crisis, the so called worst economic disaster since the great depression. those who call it that obviously came from Columbus city school district, our economy exists (like so many other things) in a balance, up and down, and it swoops either direction sometimes. We just came off of a nice long upswing and we're now going into a downturn, relax folks and let capitolism do it's thing.
I hear the term "Big Government" used alot lately, for those of us who don't follow politics as much as others the basic principle is that the more regulations are put on business and the people themselves, the more people our nation has to employ and pay a rediculous government salary to do basically nothing. consequently the overall size of our government, it's departments, it's real estate, and it's man power, increase.
Auto makers are in trouble at the moment, they can't make enough to pay their worker's and keep some profit. As I understand the process it takes about 8 years from the time a designer gets the idea in his head and starts to draw it out and refine it until that automobile goes into real production and is availible to the public. Right now we have designers ripping up and throwing away plans to vehicles because by the time they go into production they couldn't possibly meet emissions standards that all the "global warming" whiner's are pushing. (hold on to your "global warming" I'm getting there). I heard on the radio and haven't had time to confirm that the auto bail out was approved, what do you suppose happened next. the UAW said they wouldn't cut one penny or even negotiate about money. Another unconfirmed report is that GM and Chrysler jumped up and got their gov't welfare check but Ford said "No Thanks", I don't know if thats true or not but if I find out it is I'll buy my next couple new vehicles from Ford.
I told you that little story to tell you this one, the point of that was to show how ineffective "big government" is. What needs to happen is to just back off the regulations on several industries and let capitolism do it's thing, by bailing out these companies the US government has done it's part to drag out this recession. by it's very design capitolism is made to seperate the weak from the herd and allow the strong to survive in hard times and the so called "little man" can prosper well if he plans good usually. but helping businesses that are failing to stay afloat only strains the economy further when what really needs to happen is to get into a position where Americans buy more stuff, companies profit and gov. gets the taxes and everyone prosper's. now their taking our taxes to help out several organizations instead of handling their own business so now when the rest of the country recovers it will take that much longer to get our debt paid off. Americans won't buy stuff if they can't afford the essentials.
just for fun lets say you have 3 companies that all make the same type of product. in a capitolist society (when capitolism is left alone to work) when times get economically bad all 3 companies feel the pinch a bit. when it gets bad enough one company will fail and it's assets will be sold (usually ot it's former competitors) and it's workforce will eventually find it's place, many of them with the other 2 companies. but then the price of said product will come down for a time because the others had a good scare watching their rival fall. With the price low people can more easily afford said product and buy more of it. now the 2 remaining manufacturers are making great profit, gov gets their tax money and the ripple effect goes throughout our economy and we all prosper just a touch.
And now for the rest of you, you know who you are. I got your "Global Warming" right here and if I ever meet Al Gore I'll kick his nerdy ass for scaring my America like he and his followers have. He cites studies that say our planet is getting hotter and our polar ice caps are melting, the funny thing is I bet that none of his so called scientists ever paid attention in class or looked outside of the Earth's atmosphere for a possible cause. If you paid attention in the historical portionof your science class you would have heard that our entire universe goes through cycles wher things get hotter or colder, poles can reverse polarity, and generally anything goes. Studying earths history will show up and down trends in temoerature and other atmospheric conditions. But in rides Al Gore (who says he invented the internet by the way) to save us all from the "Global Warming" menace. Well yippy fricken DOO. Have you noticed that all these fools do is blame everything on "Global Warming". Our summer's are hotter, "Global Warming". Our winter's are colder, "Global Warming". There are more Hurricanes, "Global Warming". We had less hurricanes this season? Part of the "Global Warming" cycle. We have more young men playing video games and masturbating, "Global Warming". Get a grip people (not the young men) nothing in this world has been blamed for so much except one and only one thing and if the great and powerful GORE is too chicken to say it, I WILL. "GLOBAL WARMING" is the DEVIL, think about it, thats what our religious community has been screaming for years that everything wrong in the world is the work of the Devil. now everything is Globall Warming, I SEE, it's all so clear to me now, The Devil transformed into Global Warming. Look out, he's mutating, we're all screwed now.
I like our mentor Boone because instead of the political blame game he's working toward a solution that will fix our economy on several levels and not play into the political scare tactics. other's talk about change, T. Boone Pickens is proving he IS about change. This is what our America needs, A leader who leads by example, uses positive not negative reinforcement, and who is not afraid to stand in the path of this big thundering political machine.
Boone is the MAN
