- Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
- I haven't done much yet. However, I have been investigating alternative power for my retirement home (all types of solar, wind, energy storage). We are in the process of purchasing a log home in Arkansas of all places that already uses geothermal cooling/heating along with a heat pump. I've begun cutting down my carbon footprint by changing to floresent lighting in the house, putting a timer on my water heater, and looking to replace it with a tankless water heater, etc. On my cars and motorcycles I have installed a Hypertech economy computer tuner (gained 4mpg), K&N air filters, synthetic oil, and raised tire pressures.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- Someone is doing something besides lip service and we as a nation need to move forward with planning for the future. Plans like this are long over-due. Private versus Government lead is exciting too. If private industry drives the changes and government offers tax cuts and grants we can move forward at a pretty rapid pace.
- What do you want to do to help?
- At this point all I can do is promote alternative energy locally in my peer groups. When I retire in a few months, I intend to be involved more.
