Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have no experience with alternative energy but have tried to privately work on making our home more energy efficient. I have replaced all light bulbs, lowered my thermostat and drive my most effecient gas mileage car (avg. 30 mpg).
What excites you about this campaign?
I want to do something positive for our country. Timing could not be better with new administration coming to Washington. The Pickens Plan is the best idea I have seen presented and I am encouraged when I talked to friends and they agree that this is a great start for our country.
What do you want to do to help?
I would like to be a District Leader for MI-09. I am retired and have the time to work on getting us organized. I have a background in sales, marketing and management and I would like to use my skills in helping the campaign. I have been sitting on the sidelines for three years and it is time to "get off the bench". Put me in coach! Michigan needs a positive approach to all our problems and this can be a starting point for getting people in this state headed in the right direction. I will do what needs to be done and help in any way.

My Friends,
The 2010 election is rapidly approaching, and some of you are aware I will be running for the Oakland County 13th district State Senate seat. I am calling upon you to assit me in establishing better standards and the necessary reforms needed in Michigan. I must stress I cannot do this without your help-Pickens cannot do this without your help!
It starts and ends with you and me; all of us working together and as I have said over and over in our discussions-ordinary people can do extraordinary things when given the chance to participate.
What I have learned over the past 16 months reading and listening to your achievements for our noble cause is the change rarely happens from the top down, it happens from the bottom up. Many of us live our entire lives waiting for the chance to make a difference, to count, to really matter-well that time is now-answer the call to action and pledge to RIGHT Michigan, Pledge to put an end to the same failed policies and practices of the past, to poor decision making, and the lack of political will and courage by our state legislature. Join with me to usger in an era of real accountability, placing people (our women, children, community and neighbors) before party; the working class before lobbyist and special interest group.
The biggest risk we can take this year is to continue down the path we on, being led by the same old political gamers, practicing the same old politics that has failed you and me. How about we start an energy bond in Michigan, and solicit other good ideas from people like you and me who have been excluded, ignored, and disappointed.
I need a team of speakers to travel with me in [birmingham, troy, royal oak, madison heights, clawson, berkley, bloomfield hills and bloomfield township] hosting community conversation informing residents of our current situation as well as of the opportunities that await us in the future with the right leadership.
Don't I wish on the boat...! We call it the Beater Boat, but it runs!
Your info was just what I needed to see. Most of our districts representatives seem to be heavily in favor of the Plan! Thank goodness.
I also wanted to let you know about the many House Parties to discuss the Stimulus being held this Friday, Sat. & Sunday too. www.recovery.gov has an EVENT tab, where you enter your Zip for a listing of the Parties. I've joined up with one and plan on bringing the Pickens Plan sign-up sheet and other info. Hope you can get to one of these too!
Jay, I have been in touch with our Senator's and Representatives in Washington. The phones were answered by what I suspect are interns or staff. I made my positive comments towards Wind, CNG and alt. energy conversion assistance to our State and Local governments known. Is there any protocol when calling and who should we ask for besides the official? Perhaps their office manager, or chief of Staff? It would be helpful to know for future direct calls... the staff member did affirm that he/she would pass the info along, though.
Obama gave a terrific speech Friday from a wind turbine parts manufacturing facility in Ohio. Now is the time to keep up the pressure. We ARE changing the way everyone in this country looks at the energy crisis, and how it directly effects our economy, environment and national security.
Hi Jay, I'm the state Internal Communication Director for the Michigan FairTax Assn which works "hand in glove" with goals of the Pickens Plan because by REPLACING the Michigan income tax, families and businesses will have additional disposable monthly income to make energy improvements to their homes and businesses.
How will passage of a MI FairTax do this? It will REPLACE the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale). This means that no more state tax will be withheld from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks. What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size. This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending.
Under the FairTax plan, points of collection are reduced to retailers many of whom are already collecting sales tax. Because service providers must account for income tax withholding and compliance costs, their prices carry a hidden tax which will become visible under the MI FairTax. (The MI FairTax EXCLUDES business-to-business purchases as this would, again, hide the cost of taxation in prices.)
Because of the prebate to ALL Michigan-resident households, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending to the poverty level; thereafter it's 9.75%. The average effective rate will be around 5.5% (see p.2 of pdf brochure).
Please join our email list to learn how you can help advance the Michigan FairTax and facilitate Pickens Plan goals!
Merry Christmas Jay,
This year I have helped so many members learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about power use, conservation, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my energy costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Jay, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.
BTW, Michigan: I just posted an article on my page about Home Wind Systems in Michigan. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "soft policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. You should read that article, important.
