Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Nothing yet, but before Y2K I researched building a wind generator for my house because where I lived at the time had a tremendous amount of wind and I had hopes of losing the power bill or perhaps supplying my own needs and selling the rest to the local power company...$$$
What excites you about this campaign?
As I drove through Texas and Oklahoma, and yes even Sweetwater, Texas, I marveled at the giant wind generators and thanked God there is finally some real progress in wind power......some day perhaps we can even get sewer sludge into the deserts, dehydrated and used as fuels...the pioneers burned cowchips and we have a tremendous resource just being dumped into the oceans which should be USED...not wasted...sorry that's been eating at me since I gave a speech about it way back in college..but I digress...Mr. Pickins is correct we need a bridge...a crutch...until the permanent solutions are implemented. We have the brain power, now we just need to be motivated enough to bring them to fruition. ASAP.
What do you want to do to help?
What ever I can...I'm open to suggestions

Hello,

My name in Jeremy P. Boggess and I just joined your group. I was an Idaho State Senate Candidate in 2006, 2008 and plan to be one in 2010. I am also on a bipartisan citizens' board for Environment, Energy & Growth within a group called Panhandle Coalition. Renewable Energy has been a reoccurring theme in my campaigns. We need Renewable Energy for environmental stability as well as economic security.

I need to know what are your ideas on what I can do to help Idaho utilize more Renewable Energy. What can I do to make Renewable Energy more appealing and implementable in Idaho?

P.S. Are there any meetings in the North Idaho area?

Form reply from Senator Crapo regarding letter sent about stimulus and PP:

Dear Jeri:

Thank you for contacting me to express your support for a national energy policy. I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond.

I share the concerns of many Idahoans regarding our nation's energy policy. The need for a long-range national energy policy became clear during the energy crisis in America in 2001 when the strain on supply led to sharply increased prices and rolling blackouts throughout the Pacific Northwest. The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, made the need for energy independence an urgent matter of national security. Substantially reducing fossil fuel dependence demonstrates a commitment to security, affordable energy and a healthier environment.

The U.S. currently imports approximately 55 percent of its oil and the Department of Energy estimates that our reliance on foreign oil could increase to 65 percent by 2020. As our reliance on foreign oil increases, the energy security of the U.S. decreases. The U.S. must decrease our use of foreign oil and promote a diversified approach to energy to include expanded use of alternative sources and an increased emphasis on conservation.

As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, I have been working to promote federal policies that encourage the identification of new sources of energy and conservation practices. In June 2005, I voted in favor of comprehensive energy legislation that is already boosting renewable energy initiatives in Idaho and helping lessen the nation's foreign energy dependence. As a member of the Senate Renewables and Energy Efficiency Caucus, I sponsored amendments that grant all renewable energy sources, including hydropower, wind, and solar power, eligible for production tax credits. Considering that Idaho is one of the national leaders in geothermal energy production, as well as ranked 13th in the nation for wind energy production, the financial incentives set forth in this bill are fundamental in allowing such production to compete with other energy sources. The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, which includes the reauthorization of many of these important tax incentives, was signed into law on October 3, 2008. In addition, the Senate passed, and I voted for the CLEAN Energy Act on June 21, 2007. This legislation, which was signed into law by President Bush on December 19, 2007, sets standards for the use of ethanol and other biofuels and efficiency standards, as well as mandates for Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.

Renewables are the energy of the future, and as we move toward a cleaner energy future, we must also ensure that we continue to meet our ever-growing energy needs in an affordable manner. Developing needed energy from diverse sources balances environmental, industrial, and economic interests and provides the most effective method for becoming independent of foreign nations' energy sources. I also support initiatives to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and open other sources of domestic production in an environmentally-responsible manner. Along with the development of domestic energy resources, conservation of our natural resources is essential to the creation of a workable, comprehensive national energy plan. As a parent and legislator I am committed to leaving our children a cleaner, safer world. In the Senate I will continue to pursue an energy policy that meets these goals. Through cooperative effort and sound environmental laws, we will secure a healthy, prosperous future.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please feel free to contact me in the future on this or other matters of interest to you. For more information about the issues before the U.S. Senate as well as news releases, photos, and other items of interest, please visit my Senate website, http://crapo.senate.gov.

Sincerely,

Mike Crapo

United States Senator

Hi Jeri,

I don't know how many of you have been troubled by a certain Pickens Plan member, Windenergy7, a salesman who greets new members with a sales pitch usually before we, or an official Pickens Plan greeter can welcome them into the Pickens Plan Army

If you’ve encountered this “person” or have heard complaints of such ilk, please raise your complaints to all Regional Leaders as this “shyster” is playing havoc in my group and very few of the new people he greets first will join our group!

Thank You,
Richard Wickberg

Hi Jeri,
I just saw your friend request,(I just now checked my e-mail). I'm trying my best to gather some signatures but have only just gotten a multifunction printer (I got it for myself as a Christmas gift as I don't really have any family) so that I can download and print some petition forms. I'm in the Coeur d' Alene, Post Falls area and haven't seen anyone else from my area on the site, but then I haven't been checking the site as often as I would like, I've been dealing with some medical issues (I'm a paraplegic) and my doctors have been giving me hell over being up for too long at a stretch. But when the weather improves I intend to canvass my neighborhood as well as spend some time at the local supermarkets and the local Walmart to get some signatures.
