Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I was the head engineer of the DHS Fuel Cell Project at Darien High School in Darien, Connecticut. The project is student driven to custom design and fabricate a hybrid fuel cell vehicle. I have been a part of the project for the past three years and graduated to go off to engineering school at the University of Colorado. The project inspired me to become interested in alternate forms of energy, especially United States-produced natural gas in which hydrogen can be derived from. I also took an environmental science class and became active in the school and town communities to promote alternative energy. I have presented at several conferences including the Connecticut Technology Education Association Conference, The Darien Auto Show, and Darien High School Science Symposium and Earth Day Assembly. Now that I am off to college, I hope to find another way to get involved.
What excites you about this campaign?
I am very excited about this plan because I have been speaking about the importance of expanding United States Natural Gas production before i knew that this campaign existed. If we were to eliminate foreign oil all together, $23,000 per person would be put back into the United States economy over the next 10 years, and thats if oil prices somehow managed to stay flat for that time period. The answer is obvious. We have the natural gas infrastructure. I was able to convince my parents to switch to natural gas last year. The change is simple and cost effective over time. And if we don't make the change, then my generation will have a lower standard of living than the generations before us. If a high school student like myself can understand this, why can't the people who are responsible for running this country?

Jesse,
TRANSPORTATION is the master key to basic survival, and the cornerstone of the economy. We all know that transportation presently depends on oil production, and oil production is peaking. We must focus first on transportation – it is the highest priority. The PickensPlan to transition vehicles to natural gas is a great start toward 100% energy independence, but is a stop-gap measure till we can transition to all electric transportation. Electric energy is strained without adding transportation demands; so we must focus on drastic efficiency improvement.
Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT) is a patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”); ETT can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh (or carbon credit) than electric cars or trains. ETT is silent, low cost, safe, faster than jets, less expensive than freeways, and is electric so it can make maximum use of wind or PV power. With your engineering and science experience I thought you might want to learn more about ETT
