Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
As a geologist that has worked in the O&G/environmental industries and now as a college professor, I have always had a conceptual interest in alternative energy; particularly wind and solar. Though I believe we as a nation (and for that matter the whole world) needs to move from fossil fuels to renewable energy resources, we need to balance this with the need to maintain O&G resources since they will remain a key resource for other dedicated transportation (such as air) and other products. This plan seems to present a first step in making the necessary diversion from oil into these new areas.
What excites you about this campaign?
That it is something that is "doable" now and doesn't rely on instituting programs that will take a decade or more to get rolling. This will enable America to become energy independent and help reclaim a substantial portion of our trade deficit.
What do you want to do to help?
Help organize and implement outreach programs.

Is Nuclear Energy Really the Answer?

Likely not!

Why? Well first, it is currently a non-renewable resource (meaning that there is a finite amount that is acessible in the near surface Earth environment. The US is currently in the lower tier of uranium resources behind Australia, Kazakhstan, Russia, South Africa, Canada based on costs of $ 130/kg (from OECD NEA & IAEA, Uranium 2007: Resources, Production and Demand). The US resource ranking would account for ~ 10% of global production (if all resources are brought online) but i… Continue

Rock Port, Missouri - Completely Wind Powered!

Approximately forty miles northwest of here (Maryville, MO) is a small, sleepy agricultural town like many others in northwest Missouri, Rock Port. There is one very significant difference between Rock Port and other nearby hamlets, they can pride themselves in being one of the first (of not the first) community in the US that is nearly 100 % wind powered! Copy the links below and post into your web browser for more info:

Hello Jim...
Kiss The Earth Green

Thanks for taking the time to send President Elect Obama a congratulatory greeting card. Did you find the card manager easy to use? Feel free to send a Thanksgiving greeting card to a friend or family member. I've funded each account with enough postage for two cards. Go ahead send another one! Return to Send Congress Mail and enter your user name and password and try it again? Once inside click (Card Catalog) then click (Holidays) then (Thanksgiving) from the left navigation. Choose your greeting card by clicking (Order Greeting Card) just below the word "Create" under each card you see. Enter your message in the edit box (Scroll Down), enter your friends mailing address and then click preview on the bottom of the page. If you approve of the card just click send. The card will be printed and put into the mail the very next day.

Happy Thanksgiving!
