- I was a departmental administrator overseeing the financial operations of solar concentrator projects in the 1970s. I have been convinced for some time that CNG for vehicles was the appropriate transitional step on the way to some ultimate non-petroleum fuel source for vehicles.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- At last someone is ready to do the widespread promotion necessary to get this off the dime. There are two educational needs which are desperately needed: 1) We need to explain the opportunities to speed the process with conversion of existing vehicles to CNG, and 2) We need to explain how we can provide the CNG refueling through, as Pickens suggests, modifying existing stations. Unless people understand how easily many vehicles can be converted to CNG and what is really needed to make refueling stations readily accessible, it's still a pie-in-the-sky scheme.
