Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Very little. I grew up in Oklahoma and thought that natural gas was just for heating and cooking. Now I know a little bit more.
What excites you about this campaign?
The idea of getting away from foreign oil, using more of a renewable resource like wind, and using a cleaner alternative for transportation.
What do you want to do to help?
Just about anything I can. I'm in the U.S. Army, but I'm attending graduate school at Kansas State through May 2009. I need to know more of what I can do for the Pickens Plan before I could say what parts I'd be able to help with.

Hi Joe,

We have new roof mounting residential wind turbine kits shipping now. The kits are attractive, sleek, well designed to install as a home appliance on the roof, much like an antennae or satellite dish. They are as easy to install as other home appliances, like dishwasher, etc. You can now begin a personal energy plan. These systems are inexpensive, easy to install, scaleable.

Your Wind blows stronger in the winter, Your Sun shines stronger in the summer months. This hybrid wind/solar system combines these cycles to give a more even flow of energy year round. This homeowner sized wind/solar system provides free power for your home. Many customers have found it easy to become customer/dealers of our kits. Customers can become a dealer with no further investment, they see quickly how people are easy to get interested.

I have used the same systems save money on my electricity costs and Joe, you can too. Your local wind resources are so good in Oklahoma. Please see these windmaps at the link below and pinpoint what number your area is in. Zone 2 is OK, anything over 2 is (very) good. First double check your wind resources from the map and links below.

Hello Joe, first, thank's for your hark work and service to our beloved Country, second, I'm sure your very busy, but a great many people respect you for your efforts and I'm sure most folks would join Pickens plan web site just by you asking them. So when you have time please help boone increase his members numbers, As I too try to tell folks when ever I meet new people.
.
I'm also interested in gathering Kansans and uniting them to promote compressed Natural gas for NGV's cars and trucks and into a meetup group website as well. We cant wait for State or Federal government to act in our best interest. Local people and their interests MUST rise above the apathy in America today. We have a GM plant in kansas city, it's time we put them to the test for the betterment of Kansas and Missouri citizen's. please join me in uniting all of kansas in this effort.

Thanks, Paul

Hey Joe, I just wanted to remind you to try and get your friends and family to join the Kansas group too. We really need to grow the group so we can show there is enough support for the Pickens Plan in Kansas!

Hi Joe, Just read your post. I'm glad to see others in the Manhattan area. Hopefully we can make a difference. Gov. Sebelius has been less than honest in saying she supports wind energy. She has denied economic incentives to any energy company who would build in the 4 million acre area that makes up the eastern third of Kansas. Oddly enough, that very same area is the center of our population, and already has transmission easements and power lines in place. For some reason, (money and clout) she pushed for the construction of a billion dollar power corridor stretching from eastern Kansas to western Kansas. Why shouldn't we use the wind here in eastern Kansas to generate power, using the existing power lines to satisfy the energy needs of the masses around Wichita, Topeka, Manhattan, KC and KCMO, along with supplementing Fort Riley's needs? The met towers that were erected several years ago just south of Manhattan and Junction City have been collecting data that reveals the winds across the hills in southern Geary and southern Riley counties is comparable too and in some cases surpasses the winds the western counties. The few people who would say that this isn't so just don't have access to the actual data. Our KCC has wind maps available online, but those maps are not showing the full potential of our hills, as their information is only extrapolated from out dated computer programs. By the way, Riley and Geary counties have already amended zoning laws of a favorablenature to allow Wind Energy Conversion Systems. Dickinson county followed suit a short time later as did all the counties throughout the Flinthills with the exception of Wabaunsee, who's decision is being reviewed by our Kansas Supreme Court with attention to the question of how a county can prohibit a legal company from doing business. It's time to take back our hills from the eco-terrorists that have held our State hostage in their obstructionist views. We have the wind, we having the zoning, we have the overwhelming support of our population (as evidenced with several polls taken by the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, Sen. Reitz, and the newspaper Manhattan Mercury) and we have the area large enough to support a system that could generate 150,000mw...that's enough to power roughly 50,000 homes. The only thing between wishing and having is DOING. Let's do it!
