Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
We have a horse farm that uses 100% solar for our electric fencing. I'd like to set up a wind turbine for our electric use as our property has an average wind of 9.5 mph yearly.(documented) With AFFORDABLE wind technology I feel I could become an energy PROVIDER, not a consumer.
What excites you about this campaign?
It HAS to be done and beyond these modest goals in MY lifetime.
What do you want to do to help?
Find Low-Cost wind turbines for consumers that don't cost what a automobile costs. With massive consumer purchase power, MUST come lower overall cost to buy this technology. It's JUST supply and demand.

Hi Joel,
We are meeting next week to talk about local energy options so your interests are right on target. We are also interested in low cost wind systems but have no real info on this yet. You are welcome to come and see what there is to talk about.

Meeting Notice
You are all invited to the next biweekly meeting of StepItUp-Belchertown on September 24, 2008 at 7:30 pm at the Hope United Methodist Church 31 Main Street Belchertown, MA.
Come and see what we have to show for "Stepping It Up"?
1) We learned last month that the Green Communities Act will allow home owners to have up to two (2) megawatts of solar capacity installed on their property and be paid at the retail rate for power produced. This is good news that is not common knowledge. We will review recent developments in PV solar technologies and hear about a group that has formed to get these systems installed.
2) We live in a democracy - our Selectmen have again voted to protect us from unwarranted exense by continuing to refuse to be bound by the Pioneer Valley Clean Energy Plan after all this time. So we know we have more to do, but we knew that anyway.
3) We were fortunate to welcome David Yarrow to tell us about his experiences in helping interested people grow nutrient dense food, make charcoal from their wastes, use it in their gardens, and understand what it does and why it works. It is time to test our assumptions. Our tomatoes (thanks to Adam Dole and Judy Gillian) have grown to be full sized plants in the randomized split block test of various treatments. We need to plan how to measure the effects of what was done and what to do with the information. A small group of interested persons is needed to make this happen.
4) Several members went to the MA renewable energy policy meeting on September 11. Come and hear what your State dollars are doing.
See you there!

Hi. You may know your fellow Belchertown resident, Alan Page, also a member of Pickens Plan. I'm from Amherst and am pleased to work with his Belchertown Step It Up group in an effort to reduce atmospheric CO2. You may be interested in my movie about this at http://push.pickensplan.com/video/video/show?id=2187034:Video:1128842.
