Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:: I REFUSE TO USE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING IN FLORIDA

In the 1970's I decided to Reduce my energy consumption. I got my electric bill so low the power company thought I was cheating so they replaced my meter. My bill was down to the basic connect charge which was about 16 Dollars. To get it that low I turned off my hot water heater, quit using my washing machine, I washed my clothes in a bucket of water and detergent that sloshed around while I was driving to work, Hung my cloth out to dry, filled my canoe with water, let the sun heat it and took a bath in the canoe, I got my water from a spring with a bucket, I cooked my food on a wood stove that burned slab wood from a local saw mill and also fallen trees from my own property. For 35 years I have been using diesel powered cars as a matter of national security and about 35% savings to myself. I recently built wheel chair that runs on propane so I could traverse the Florida greenway "it is illegal for handicapped people to use an ATV on the Greenway" I plan to convert my lawnmower to propane.

What excites you about this campaign?: Possibly with great numbers we can get congress to act.

At 10:38pm on December 12, 2009, Paul Chambers said…: Hi Amos; We used crank triggered ignition for all conversions, ford modules/components.for the 6bt cummins we used the natural gas head made by cummins for the propane and natural gas conversions.we used their pistons which are lower compression than the diesels aprox 9 to 1 versus 16 to 1.....we used the recomm. ended spark plugs from cummins We had a mixer which was a roundpipe ring with holes in it to send the gas into the intake of the head. we closed the wastegate so it wouldnt open to divert turbo boost. I still have lots of pictures from these conversions but they arent digital maybe I can get them on a disc and you could see the conversions.Paul.......
