What excites you about this campaign?
The reasons are too numerous to cite all of them here. It is doing what we should have done 30 years ago - diversify our energy sources, increase energy independence. Not only can we become energy independent, we can export it and generate substantial revenue, and we can preserve the environment.. This is not only the right thing to do - it's the only thing to do - it's a no-brainer.
What do you want to do to help?
Write proposals, articles. Assist with prepping for local conferences, fund raisers, awareness programs. Assist in getting the word out to businesses and politicians, particularly written medium. Have experience in public speaking and giving interviews to television media - willingness to speak publicly in support of alternative energy.

Hello,
General John Osborn here. I am your District FL-11 Leader for Pickens Plan. We need YOU more than ever. Our organization has evolved and your role has become very clear. Come to the Pickens Plan website and add yourself to my friend list and also the District Group. Make firm plans to attend our monthly meetings, you will see the Pickens Plan has had new life breathed into it. Bring a friend, we have plenty of seating. We are having a guest speaker Thursday September 10th at 7:30 PM…see Pickens Plan website for maps and additional information. (listed on both the District and Events tabs)
Under my leadership you can have a tangible role in the operation of the district. You will be meeting “Mark Sharpe” of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners at the September meeting. I assure you this will be interesting and informative.
Please reply to my direct email at josborn5@tampabay.rr.com We need to know you’re still active and ready to assist us in the revitalized campaign for “Energy Independence”. Also RSVP for the September 10th, meeting.

You are right! Keeping people focused on energy is enough. However this is something Americans need to think about and it does also include our oil dependence.
Hi Wayne: I agree that we need to conserve and be friendly to the environment, but we also need to ensure that there is a balance between the needs of our environment and the needs to sustain our society. In short, the environment and our ecosystems are important, but the issue shouldn't be used to prevent us from pursuing our energy needs. We need a balance, and don't have that right now. Many of our environmental regulations are so convoluted and nebulous that they can be twisted in many ways and shapes to prevent, for example, the construction of wind farms, desalination plants, etc., which in turn means that they hurt our efforts to conserve and become energy-independent.
I think we have to do it all. We do not need all of our eggs in one basket ever again. However anything we do is a few years away from mass implementation. In the interim I think the answer is Conservation and Environmental Stewardship. Check out our Pickens group at "Live Carbon Free" We are promoting conservation and environmental stewardship to bridge the gap to the future of alternative energy. Also you might want to check out the site www.usgreenhome.info
PLEASE email the Pickens Plan video to everyone you know. Ask them to join. Ask them to pass it along. Time is of the essence. If every member had 10 friends join today, we could put the number of members over 1 million very quickly!
If we can not get critical numbers how can we take advantage of this golden opportunity? Because of high gas prices, Americans have "woken up" to our plight and a paradigm shift like not other is in the wind. We need to do this now. So many new members write "I want to help, what can I do?" This is a start. We may not get to the next step if we can not get this one done.
Our leaders can not ignore millions of members of the Pickens Plan. We are not there yet. One person can make a difference.
