I am an innovative thinker in alt energy. My interest became most apparent in college with involvement in a solar car project at RHIT in Terre Haute IN.
I am an electrical engineer with a Masters focusing on power electronics (electrical energy conversion). Since undergrad I have been focused on combining emerging technologies to solve contemporary problems; energy harvesting and conversion has been the most significant focus.
Presently I have conceived and am developing a 100th scale model of a 125MW full scale non-axial wind energy converter. The full scale model of this converter is 1600m X 120m of swept area. The design uses only two towers, thus drastically reducing tower costs. Because the design uses translating blades, blade design is more like an airplane wing and therefore much simpler and economical than those used on wind turbines. Furthermore only one generator is used to generate all the power rather than many generators a top many towers to sweep this much area using conventional wind turbines. With these cost reductions, I anticipate the $/W of this solution to be about half of the $2/W presently available using conventional rotating wind machines.

TRANSPORTATION is the master key to basic survival, and the cornerstone of the economy. We all know that transportation presently depends on oil production, and oil production is peaking. We must focus first on transportation – it is the highest priority.
The PickensPlan to transition vehicles to natural gas is a great start toward 100% energy independence, but is a stop-gap measure till we can transition to all electric transportation. Electric energy is strained without adding transportation demands; so we must drastically improve efficiency .

Almost as a hobby, I help develop others' inventions by researching potential synergies. My motivation is not profit, but helping beneficial changes occur. Alternative energy is the long term answer but we need to act immediately to reduce our dependence on OPEC. This can only be accomplished through conservation. What I suggest you do is to write to Niel Ellerbrook endorsing my idea and suggesting that you would like to participate. That is the beautiful thing about this web site. I would also like to learn more about your invention. I will keep you posted as to what happens with my idea.
