Seriously ethanol from corn?
The energy inputs tend to negate the green house gas savings.
Redirecting Corn from food supply to ethanol production is having bad consequences in several countries the result is higher food prices, Mexico for example
Ethanol is better than petrol/oil but it depends what is used to produce it.
From Sugar yes, so long as you dont cut rain forest down to grow the sugar.
From switch grass yes, though not commercial yet as process is new.
Switch grass is heaps better as it actually prefers poor soil and hence less fertilizer input, fertilizer production reduces the carbon savings as it is energy intensive to produce.
Not meaning to put you down I realise best intention but ..
Take Palm oil for diesel, lower emissions and cheaper, yet in South east asia it is responsible for large areas of rain forest being burn and habitat for endanger species lost.
Here in Australia they sell 10% ethanol fuel, the ethanol is made from sugar, but after you count in the reduction in mpg, most if not all the green house savings vanish. this country is heavily dependent on coal so energy input in the form of electricity is very dirty.
Welcome!
I am one of the welcome wagon crew. We are all volunteers. Out of sheer numbers I greet daily I have a paste and copy note.
It is not intended to overwhelm you, just give you a direction and some contacts. I do read every profile page.
We are a voluntary community of individuals who are placing our combined support behind T. Boone Pickens and his efforts to send our government a clear (heard) message that we must reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil through the use of all domestic energy alternatives. This site is a place to interact with fellow Pickens Plan supporters, keep up with events and opportunities to help get more involvement.
For those of you that have already jumped in and have made contact with your local leader- thanks.
*************Please, I ask the first sites you visit to get accurate info and articles to see pretty much what the plan is about and where the plan stands, and please come back to these sites often as changes take place regularly. Some are long, please; take the time to get all the details.

There is a group for almost everything. The Forums/discussions on this site are many and you’ll probably find something that interests or concerns you. Some are very long and were started months ago. For the ones that concern you, please keep in mind, events are remembered and relayed differently by those commenting, which as we all too well know equals at least three sides to the event.
After you have read the sites I mentioned, if you need anything else to help you, while you help the push, please stop by. I am proud to put my efforts towards this cause.
Other fellow greeters will give you a more in depth list of things to do. Again, Welcome; Tom
