Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Lots of thoughts into this topic. I do what I can. All I want to say on this question.
What excites you about this campaign?
Environmental Changes, Less dependency on Foreign Oil, Step in the right direction. Although, I am not happy that Mr. Pickens has the money to do this and common people can't just build a plant. I see a well produced TV Commercials to benefit his pocket book- always a motive even in clean energy. This should be a non profit plan if Mr. Pickens really cares about this topic. Already rich and won't ever be poor. This would really be the easiest sell if people who already have tons of money weren't investing for profit. I like the idea of jobs being created, but to make good money off of it when you are already rich doesn't sit well with me. Maybe you should donate that surplus of revenue you will make to education, health care, social security for those of us won't have in our elder years and other programs that need our attention. I don't think that is a bad thing. My opinion whether you like it or not... Good concept, but flaws in overall campaign.
What do you want to do to help?
Take the profit out and make it something that will be good for everyone. If you can come up with other plans for the profit, then I will help in any way that I can. I have health problems and I would work my butt off knowing it were fair. I understand costs are involved, but we have to stop thinking money first and environment second. I would help and talk till I am blue in the face if this is revised.

Hi Kaine,
Just read your post about starting a non-profit for renewable energy instead of this money making venture. Businessmen will always reach for a profit, but I agree that there may be a better way to help our whole society. Non profit, maybe!

I suggest a book written recently called Creating a World Without Poverty: Social Business and the Future of Capitalism by Muhammed Yunus (winner of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for his banking for the poor) He offers another possibility.

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. We need your help.

There is a perfect storm of events happening right now that create the possibility of a paradigm shift that is urgently needed. We have an angry citizenry due to pain at the pump, a presidential election on the horizon, and a man with a plan to dramatically and imminently reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and provide a bridge to future solutions, who has the resources, contacts, knowledge, wealth and "will" to get it done.

Please share this plan with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. As you know, it is simply like signing a petition. With large numbers of supporters, we can put pressure to bear on Congress to incentivize alternative and renewable energies, and insure that our future president will be a leader that will push for domestic energy solutions. JFK once said. "in the next 10 years we will put a man on the moon". He got it done. We need that kind of leadership on energy.

Time is of the essence. If gas prices retreat the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not get this done when we had the chance.
