We need a tax
That will stablize gas prices whenever they fall below 3.50 a gallon, adn be used to support alternative fuel sources research.

The 10-ft x 10-ft booth cost to us as a non-profit organization is $770.
The old price ($650) offer went away as of Feb. 1. We could pool our resources and get this. I hope lots of people will contact me about this soon

It appears to be a first come, first served arrangement, and the booths for non-profits are around $700. That still is a bit much. I've done "green shows" before and the most I've paid for a booth is about $150. My company (NFCEP, Inc.) is a 501c3 non-profit. We could use that company to get a good booth rate. Phone up the Green Festival folks if you can tomorrow, and check on the booth rate:

WHY? RONNIE REAGAN AND THE GARN-ST.GERMAIN BILL - that allowed Federal associations to go nuts and do anything that a Texas or California shop could do - get government off their backs - just make money - and the head of our agency then was the guy who had been Reagan's press secretary when he was Gov. of California - (Edmund Grey) and when he discovered what a pile of crap he had been handed he screamed like hell, but nobody wanted to hear - not Ronnie - not Stockman - Reagan's head of OMB - WHO IN HIS BOOK LATER ADMITTED THAT SUPPLY-SIDE ECONOMICS WAS B.S. DESIGNED TO CREATE A CRISIS TO FORCE THE DEMOS TO "STARVE THE BEAST" OF PERSONAL ENTILEMENTS (Republicans only like to hand out corporate entitlements - called crony-capitalism/socialism!) and not the Demos wanted to hear either who were getting huge payola from the S&L PAC through the Demo whip then - Tony Coelho, who quit before being indicted I believe.
On election day in 1988 I was in Puerto Rico on a special one-week assignment of alleged kick-backs - the FHLBof NY tried to set us up as patsies after our boss in Chicago bragged his criminal investigator squad/team was the best in the country. They wanted us to look at not one, but two shops on the island in a week - we got down there on Monday night before November elections after a briefing in NYC in World trade Center - floor 100 - saw Ed Koch in the lobby - no longer mayor of NYC then. Loan files in Puerto Rico - documents in English - correspondence in Spanish - found smoking gun anyway and got off that crazy island with evidence back to Chicago. On Thurs before we left we had to lunch with FBI, Treasury, Secret Service agents - alleged political kick-backs to then Gov of Puerto Rico. MAILED OUR RECOMMENDATIONS AND FINDINGS TO NYC - CALLED BUREAUCRATIC STICKING IT TO THE WOULD-BE STICKORS!
Government can be really back-stabbing Macchiavellian paranoia - glad to get out of there when I did.

I conclude that Mr. Obama apparently had designs on bigger and better things even then, and knew better than to stick his neck out personally on a very controversial and unique idea, so he handed it off to a Congressman in a "SAFE" DISTRICT WHO COULD INTRODUCE A BILL SAYING THE MOON WAS MADE OUT OF BLUE CHEESE AND STILL BE RE-ELECTED BY HIS CONSTITUENTS. Mr. Fattah could float the "trial balloon" without consequence to Mr. Obama's rep as backing a "kooky" (different) idea.
I ran for the Will County board in 2006 and shook hands as a Demo with our "Governor" Blago on a platform - and came home saying to all: "that man has no soul" - Blago is now being impeached. As a retired Federal bank examiner I helped put ex-Gov. Dan Walker in jail for his capers in 1986 as President of First American Savings of OakBrook/Benton Illinois.
The Demos ignored me; Pelosi gave her blessing to Debbie Halvorson-Bush - our new rep in Dist #11. I would move either to Moab Utah or Cour D'Alene Idaho if I win the LOTTO and then run for the Energy Party where they only have 3 and 2 congressional seats for the respective states. I visited both this summer on a drive from Chicago up to Vancouver and return seeing 3 live volcanoes in Washington and Oregon on the way to Moab, Mesa Verde, and lastly Omaha (home of Warren Buffett). Enough - I don't mean to bore you with my life history.

I have my own favorite reform idea on Federal taxes - a "Payee's Tax" on all receipts of all persons and entities at a uniform flat rate of 1/2 of 1% collected and remitted daily by the banking system to the US Treasury - the FRB SYSTEM claimed it processes $3 trillion of payment transfers daily and with 300 business days a year that's $900 trillion and 1/2 of 1% of that is $4.5 trillion of tax revenues - NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXEMPTIONS AND NO OFFSETTING DEDUCTIONS - GOODBY TO IRS, INCOME TAX, PAYROLL TAXES, DEATH TAX!
No more political paybacks for campaign contributions hidden in the tax codes - you want $$ from Uncle Sam? Sell us something, get a grant, or even get a 0% loan for R&D with conversion rights and warrants to nonvoting stock so ALL Americans eventually share in the profits of this endeavor.

I feel the need to get this little story and then some of my opinions out of the way.
...I want to acknowledge that our country and our world is in one hell of a mess. And it is a mess of magnitude like we have never seen or experienced before. We have never had this enormity of population or plethora of myriad technologies. And it is an irony that while we can, in an instant, talk with almost anyone anywhere in the world through numerous channels...we are a world that is not in communication. And because we seem to only know how to talk without ever communicating we don't cooperate and we very seldom agree. Instead we all wander off chasing our own dream and in many cases our own dream is a dream that serves only the person having it. And in this country in particular we are, in general, a population that is blind but believes it can see.
When I first saw T. Boone on Good Morning America back in early July of this year and he was pitching his plan I immediately had a surge of hope and I decided right then and there that I was going to do whatever I could to help this guy. Then, in early Aug when I signed in at PP.com I was first frustrated by no apparent organization but I was soon distracted from that and became amazed at how many intelligent, creative, willing, people there were that had come to do the same thing I had...Help. I saw communication (not just talk). I saw cooperation. I saw agreement and I saw unconditional help. of course, I saw other elements - negative elements - too but that was expected. This other, though, was not expected i.e., such an extensive aggregation of people willing to work together to forward a common cause and that not only invigorated me but it inspired me and really gave me a surge of hope. And had I not seen this I would have never brought the Elephant out to be looked at.
Okay, here is an image of what I am looking at. I see a multi-story switchback stair case that has a landing at each story. At the very top story there sits a wonderful world of peace, friendship, happiness, cooperation, unbound creativity, abundance, prosperity and all life is in harmony and is flourishing and expanding. In other words...utopia! But we are a very long way from the top landing of this stair case.
What else I see, though, are individuals and a sundry of groups that have pieces (solutions) that form together to make a huge puzzle. And when the puzzle is all assembled what we see is a much improved world for all of life that inhabit it. And we see life in complete knowing harmony with the all that is inanimate. The problem is that the solutions have left the bulk of the world stranded down the staircase several landings below. And no matter how great and wonderful the solutions are the people can not see them for what they are because the people are unable to see beyond the landing where they themselves are located. Therefore, the incredible solutions that can better the condition of the world are just sitting there waiting to be enacted but do not get enacted and in the meantime the world condition diminishes.
What IS the key to getting the puzzle put together? EDUCATION! We have got to get creative and devise effective means by which we can address the population and gradually or abruptly enlighten them. We need to raise the awareness AND understanding of the overall population so that they can actually confront and view the dangerous condition that they are all in and be able to see, recognize and act upon the solutions that are available. If we do neglect to accomplish this step...nothing else matters because the solutions will never get the support they need or be understood to even be a piece of the solution.
This Elephant that I put out there is something that I fully believe can have designed into it a way to help accomplish the education part of the puzzle. But enough for now. Now it is your turn. Please feel free to reciprocate by blog on my comment wall.

Peak Oil is not some vague concept and we all know that resource is going to run out so it's just logical to build for the future; it's a challenge we are well suited to meet as we have brains and hands!
