Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?: Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize

Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:: President and Cofounder of USA Energy Independence- A non-partisan web site that was launched on July 4, 2006. Our mission is to provide a non-partisan forum to provide information about any and all domestic sources of energy (from wind to oil) that will enable the United States to wean itself from offshore oil.

USA Energy Independence was one of the sponsors of "Renewable Energy: A Rural Renaissance that was co-hosted by the Departments of Energy and Agriculture.

My experience includes being a ad and sales promotion manager for a Fortune 500 company that manufactured equipment used by energy companies. This was during the oil embargo of the 1970s.

Because I was so intimately related to the energy industry it became clear to me that

What excites you about this campaign?: It is one of the few campaigns that gives the straight talk about the economic cost of importing almost 70% of our oil consumption.

What do you want to do to help?: We are about to launch a viral marketing campaign that will be memorable and in a most unforgettable way reinforce the idea of what offshore oil suppliers can do with their oil and what we need to do. It may be this campaign can reinforce this mention.

My experience in marketing, advertising, promotion and media relations includes stints as ad manager at two Fortune 500 Companies, Exec VP/GM of an advertising agency, Director of E-Business Strategic Planning for a global manufacturing company headquartered in Tokyo, and administrator of a $30 mm Internet VC fund.

Right now with oil under $50 a barrel the following may seem not current. However, we know OPEC will cut production and do all it can to raise the price of oil. So, in the spirit of OPEC and the season I thought you may enjoy the following.

A Bridge to Somewhere

The strategy of the Pickens Plan is to build a bridge to the future that will buy the United States time until new technologies bring new energy sources online.

Ironically, some cynics will clamor that the renewable technologies won’t be able to provide the solution for USA Energy Independence.

There is a very good likelihood that the future answers to our current energy challenges are things most of us or even all of us have not considered or actually don’t currently exist.

thanks for your history lesson, although I am of Dutch descent I know what the Baltic States have gone through. Today, unfortunately most clever people have left to look for money outside this (still) emerging country.
The institute of physics here in Latvia and that of Kiev (Ukraine)have been very helpful in developing our project.
As it looks now, we might come to the United States as several interesting bid for product development lie on the table.
