What excites you about this campaign?
IT IS THE START OF WHAT THE COUNTRY NEEDS RIGHT NOW. IT NEEDS TO BE PUSHED FROM ALL ANGLES, POLITICALLY AND SOCIALLY ON A FULL TIME 24/7 SCHEDULE. IF THIS CAN BE DONE, I'M MORE THAN JUST EXCITED, I'D BE SPEECHLESS!
What do you want to do to help?
I WANT TO BE INVOLVED ON A FULL TIME BASIS AS MY VOCATION AND ADVOCATION. I WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THIS PROGRAM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

It's now 4 months later, 2 million jobs lost and almost 2 TRILLION dollars thrown away. What has been accomplished? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
We have a congress that looks like the Keystone Kops except for a few, lone, brave souls, and we have a new President thats telling us that unless we DO SOMETHING NOW, the sky is going to fall.
The "GOVERNMENT" hasn't helped 1 citizen stay in their home, or keep or find a job, and unless the people themselves gather together and act as a consolidated body to force the "GOVERNMENT" to change, things will only go from bad to worse.
Here are a few things and updates to prior suggestions.
1) Do NOT allow them to pass the currently constructed "STIMULUS" bill.
2) If we do not want them to spend any more money, DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM! It is time for a general TAX STRIKE. The clowns in Washington and Wall St have literally destroyed the concept of MONEY, so why should we keep giving them more of the little that we have left.
3) If we still can't get the "GOVERNMENTS" attention, a 5 million person march on Washington on April 15th, would be appropriate.
4) Corporate tax rates must be lowered if we expect to keep any production here in this country. We should have the LOWEST rates in the industrialized world, NOT the HIGHEST!
5) The "GOVERNMENT" should not be boosting Unionization at any time, its not a government function. But doing this now, at this time, is counter-productive, borders on criminal and is probably unconstitutional in the way the new regulations are written.
6) Lowering taxes on everyone is of course a stimulus, but at the rate of job loss and loss of equity in homes and all accounts, it can't do the job alone.
The people losing their homes have basically lost everything, and with their destroyed credit ratings, may not be able to qualify for another, or even rent an apartment. On top of this, add underemployment or unemployment, and you have a situation that a person or family just can't live with.
Until this Recession/Depression is over, there should be a moratorium on foreclosures. Foreclosed properties lose substantially more value when they are empty, then when they are occupied. On the whole, the properties will be worth more after the economy normalizes, even if the people have been living there for FREE, as long as they still are the mortgage holders. And remember, we need people working, producing products and paying their fair share of taxes, something that is almost impossible without a home!
7) The "GOVERNMENT" has already give almost a TRILLION dollars to the Banking and Credit industry, with nothing to show for it. They are pushing the MONEY and the DEBT in the wrong direction. The problem is, the "GOVERNMENT" thinks that they OWN all the money because they have the power to tax and to print PAPER. They are WRONG! The value comes from the hard work and production of everyone in this country and nowhere else.
One time tax breaks and gimmicks do nothing but waste time and money.
The Credit industry must be drastically reigned in, their policies and rates overhauled. Do you realize that most transactions in the United States occurs with a credit card or account? What that means is that the Credit industry gets a percentage, up front, of every transaction that you make, and they have hidden this from the consumer by forcing vendors not to reveal this fee, usually in the 3 to 5 % range, by the way. so you've already been paying the credit card companies for the convenience of using credit, even before you get home and have to pay the bill.
Make the credit card companies disclose the charges right at the register, just like all other charges and taxes. We must severely limit all their charges, fees and rates. Rates must be dropped now for all accounts and have permanent caps under new laws. ANY Credit entity that has received BAILOUT MONEY should have their rates dropped to 0% until the economy returns to normal.

To ALL concerned!!! This was written 9/30/08. SEE NEW Comment ABOVE!

This is what we need to do ASAP. It will sound crazy when you take it item for item, but put it all together and it’s what is needed NOW!

No more "Corporate" bail-outs or government take-over's of so-called private businesses.

Take that money, or paper, or credits or what-have-you that our government is squandering and do the following:

Declare a national emergency, and take emergency measures that are temporary, 30 to 90 days, to protect the banking system and get us through the end of the year and the election. Freeze all foreclosures during this time.

Put in a plan that is renewable every six months until the crisis is over:

Freeze interest on every residential mortgage ( under a reasonable amount, for single home owners) . Make the mortgage 0% interest during this emergency and have the mortgage act as if it was a real 0% during this time. (Meaning al payments go directly to the loan principal and no interest accrues or is deferred) . Let the government CREDIT payment to all these mortgages for 6 months at a time to the mortgage holders until the crisis is officially declared over.

Allow the in- trouble citizens the breathing room to recover. Allow the average home-owner some breathing room as well. This will prime the money pump and start us back on track.

For the people and homes that have already been foreclosed and lost, these homes should be made available at 25% of their original mortgage values and be sold as single residency properties that must be lived in by the purchasers. Use Government backed funds for these mortgages as well.

Credit cards and other financial tools must be revised and drastically regulated.

Rates must be substantially cut and capped. 15% maximum seems to be reasonable. And I mean on all accounts, not just on new accounts. We’ve been letting the credit card and banking outfits cheat and steal from the people for 50 years, it’s time to put the brakes on the whole scheme. Limit interest rate and other fees to no more than that 15% figure and limit rate increases to no more than 2% a year.

Residential mortgage interest and fees should be capped as well.( Maybe 10%) How can you give someone a home and a hope and then steal it away by allowing unconscionable rates on a family’s only real investment?

Stop the banking industry from robbing the citizens with fees and schedules and myriad add-ons that skyrocket the cost of basic home-ownership. And that goes double for the governments that tax the home-buyer and home -seller over and over again.

Get the government out of the way of the people. Change the federal laws on interest, lending and what we used to call Usury. There are no longer local banks or state only banks, they are all interconnected nationally and internationally and only strong, uniform national laws will correct some of the problems.

Get the government out of the way of our energy resources and let the country get back to Producing things.

Drill, drill, drill! Build refineries, Nuclear plants, Wind Farms. Cover every structure in America with photo-voltaic panels and change the laws nationally that allow them to be tied into the power -grid and help pay for themselves and our energy use. Stop producing Ethanol from food crops. We do need alternative fuels, let Congress once again get out of the way and drop restrictive tariffs on Ethanol and other fuels. Lets import it from Brazil and other countries that are more than happy to sell us their products and help boost Friendly economies instead of enriching people that hate America.

Put lots of people to work here in the good old USA with good paying, productive jobs. Have them build and produce tangible assets for themselves and the country. Get our farmers back to farming for FOOD, not over-priced, underpowered moonshine.

We should repeal failed laws and regulations. Change them or kill them so to speak.

Two examples: Sarbanes-Oxley business regulation, stops the formation of new businesses and has totally failed on any substantive regulation of bad practices.

McCain-Feingold campaign reform act. Total failure on every level and measure.

Could go on and on for days with this sort of thing, but it’s time to stop.

We have a chance to take this crisis of confidence and turn it around, making America stronger and better. Let’s not blow it by letting the " Fools on the Hill " screw it up again!

Hi Len, Here is a tool for all of us to get renewable energy going. I am working the introduction into Congress a bill for US Treasury "Energy Independence Savings Bonds". Savings bonds are normally purchased in $25 increments. This gives a way for just about any American to tighten their belts just a bit by skipping a meal at McDonalds or Pizza Hut and buying an RE savings bond to support a renewable energy project and save money at the same time for themselves. I need help pushing this project, I've faxed and emailed many in Congress/Senate already. If you agree with this plan please consider passing to other people in your district as it will be a great tool to get funding for PickensPlan projects through support of Renewable Energy projects. On my web page is a link for a new group that was started today called “Energy Independence US Treasury Savings Bonds” At your discretion I encourage you to join on the link as one of “my friends” and the join the group if you agree with the goals. I have created a group on PickensPlan called “Energy Independence US Treasury Savings Bonds” . It is currently listed as the number 3 group on the PickensPlan website and I encourage you to check it out, join if you like it, and become friends on my PickensPlan page. My email address is michael.kendall@ymail.com Here is a copy of a fax sent to Nancy Pelosi the other day:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
27FEB09
Honorable Speaker of the House Congresswoman Pelosi,

I am an Electronic Technician Chief in the US Navy with 27 years service stationed overseas. I’m outlying an idea to assist and work with current plans for achieving energy independence. I urge you, as speaker of the house and the driving force to form the select committee on energy independence and global warming, consider for discussion and introduction into the house US Treasury Savings Bonds for Energy Independance.
In WWII America sold war bonds supporting the war effort. When young, my mother told me her primary school raised enough money through bonds to build a tank to support troops. I am impressed with the patriotism and purpose of our greatest generation that accomplished so much.

Selling energy bonds for RE (Renewable Energy) development would lower foreign oil imports and assist with the complex problem of funding. Bonds sold as “Energy S” could support new solar trough plants, “Energy W” to support wind farms, Energy “H” to support hydroelectric plants, Energy “T” to support RE transportation such as electric bullet train routes powered by RE, Energy "C" COOPS for small communities only needing a small quantity of turbines, and Energy “I” for needed infrastructure high voltage power lines to the RE site. Bonds will have the project name and include an artist’s perspective of the project and an American flag. President Obama had great success with the internet during his campaign. In a similar manner, using the internet, energy bonds could have a website listing current projects and an “electronic checkout” could purchase a bond $25 or higher. Simpler methods of payment such as “PAYPAL” and credit cards would be available and after an electronic purchase is complete a color print out of the bond is available with a follow up of the bond in the mail. The website would limit quantity of projects for each category until funding is complete. After a project becomes funded, a new project will be available. A tab on the site will show history and status of previous projects. Purchasers may take great pride in “collecting” and displaying bonds of various RE projects and participating at different levels of financial support. Solar trough plants in the multi-hundred MW size capacity with molten salt energy storage in California, Arizona, and West Texas can provide a major portion of electric needs. North Dakota has potential to support 1/3 of our nations electric needs in it’s class 4 wind zone areas. There are plenty of suitable proposed wind turbine farms now around the nation to significantly increase our RE if funded. Mid sized hydro-electric has not been used in America to it’s full potential. Following the example of our neighbor, Canada, it would provide a significant increase in percentage of electric production. Developing all three we could provide the majority of our electric and heating needs through renewable energy in a "New New Deal" fashion allowing natural gas for transportation as T. Boone Pickens is working for. Bullet train routes have proven a viable alternative to commercial domestic air service and when powered by electricity provided by RE suppliers America would be in the forefront of world technology. Example, I heard of discussion for a commuter train from Denver to Colorado Springs. Such a route built as a renewable energy project with charter requirement legally requiring to only purchase electricity from available renewable energy sources would be a model example. There are many train routes, city bus systems, and government vehicles that can be converted to run from alternative energy sources and fuels. Jobs created would bolster the economy, lower trade deficit, and strengthen national security. I would take great pride in print outs of bonds with graphics of each project I supported and many other Americans would also. The energy bonds could have tax breaks. BLM lands may be a viable place to start for some projects.

I contacted the US treasury department and was told that the marketing department for savings bonds closed several years ago. I was told there would be problems because savings bonds are at the federal level while the projects will be at the state and local level. I disagree and believe that these can easily be figured out in the way of grants to the state and local level using money from the bonds for those specific projects. I was told to check out auctions on the www.treasurydirect.gov website and found them to not apply to citizens wanting to buy savings bonds to support a cause such as energy independance. I was told by the treasury department to look into CREB (Clean Renewable Energy Bonds). I found CREB to be large scale funding that a citizen would not be able to participate in as a US Treasury Energy Independance Bond would provide. If given the tools to participate directly, the power of the citizens of the United States to help achieve energy independance could not be denied. Americans mean well and the Energy Independance Savings bond program will give citizens the power at their level to make it happen. If marketed through a web page, commercials, and to federal employees the word would get out and participation would spread like wildfire.

Mr. Paul Gipe, a resident of Bakersfield CA, an author of several books about wind energy, and recipient of multiple awards as a pioneer in the industry since the 1970's has put a letter I wrote to Senator Dorgan on this subject as well as an older letter I wrote on wind COOP in JAN07. Len, wow, great to have you on board with your attitude and experience, we need an experienced street fighter in this battle with the "big Oil" and the other entrenched "Little King" leaders.

thanks for your thoughts on where are and what do we need to move forward, great insight that confirms what many of us have been feeling at least under the surface. Hopefully we can help you be involved on a full time basis. I am headed to D.C. the end of the month for and extended period 6-10 weeks to work on a small project and be closer to the action and attend some big rallys on the eastcoast. I will look forward to meeting up with you to join forces!

Len,

Thanks for joining the Communications Support group, and for your comment last night. I've replied on the comment board.

I hope what excites you about this campaign can really happen, and that you will be "speechless" in the end. But between now and then, The Pickens Plan needs you, your passion, and your experience, to help it through these initial days.

Again, thanks for the well thought out observations.
