Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have evolved in my transportation, from a car to a 150 cc scooter to now a bike. I have been forced but both the failure of the machines as well as the incliment economic environment that has resulted from Peak Oil in May '05. I studied geography and environmental resources for a while as a double major before deciding to finish school with just a creative writing degree. I don't want to be in any more debt.
I drove nearly 700 miles in three days on the back of that 150 cc scooter. It wasn't too bad.
What excites you about this campaign?
That someone for real is doing this investment. This is just the beginning and I pray that we have time to reattune our energy use to thwart the possible collapse of industrialized civilization. I've read Jared Diamond's "Collapse" and it seems it is much easier for a complex society to collapse than originally seen. Usually by the time anyone notices, it is too late.
What do you want to do to help?
Whatever is in my powers as a human. I am prepared to fully throw myself into this if possible.

Moved to a new town with no contacts and a temporarily disabled right arm, and have successfully built a teaching business, a semi-steady income freelancing, and got involved in a rock band that has made a profit on our first full-length album... thanks for the advice, though.
(just messing with you, man... the smartest way to promote is to come at it honestly, thats all I'm doing.)
Got a car for the band and the gear... cant take a taxi when you're on a regional tour, or if you're headed out to a recording studio thats 2 hrs away.
The issue of energy independance is huge... but we can all do something today to make a dent.
I live in an apartment (so solar panels and a tankless water heater are out of the question) and I play drums for a living (so public transportation is difficult... try loading a drumset onto a bus or train, especially after a late-night gig) and I dont at the moment have the money for a new more efficient car.
HOWEVER, I've been doing a bunch of research on how to help. I believe that we are all faced with hundreds of little decisions every day... making easy choices can reduce our energy use, (and therefore our oil consumption)... and side benefits include lower energy bills, higher gas mileage in any car, and a healthier lifestyle.
I wrote a blog entry about it here http://push.pickensplan.com/forum/topic/show?id=2187034%3ATopic%3A193424
If you have a moment, check it out, drop me a line, let me know what you think. I appreciate any advice, input, and ideas.

I'm just doing my job. Creative writing? I'm sure there's a niche you can fill in this discussion. Type to U-later.
