- Was instrumental in implementing a "push-pull" marketing program in 1979 for a major world wide diesel engine manufacturer (diesel was considered an "alternative fuel in the light to medium truck field back then) Over 6000 diesels were imported and sold in the US to such companies as Fed EX, Flowers Bakery, Continental Bakers, and the engine spawned a new vehicle distribution group from Brescia, Italy called IVECO Trucks of North America. My skills were in vehicle engineering, personnel training, and field service across the US with distributors and dealers.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- America is in trouble...again. In the middle to late 70's and into the early 80's it was shortages and spiking prices. The unpredictability of a fuel supply put a major whammy on the forward plans of businesses as they depended on the transportation sector to distribute their products.
We took a (then) 40 year old quality product (100hp air cooled diesel engine) and ran it on a bed dyno and certified it to EPA emission standards. We then went out literally door to door talking to people about what we had and what we were trying to do. We did many one-off installation repowers demonstrating our promise of a 100% fuel economy increase. Numbers were small at first. Fleet managers scoffed at the 5 cylinders. Most thought that the air-cooled nature of the engine would not hold up to the severe temps of the Carolinas or the Arizona deserts (it did perfectly well thank you) Our small team of cobbled together salesman, engineers, managers, and technicians MADE it happen then because it was a matter of financial survival .
From this enterprise eventually came the current crop of light duty diesel engines found in the Dodge, Ford and Chevrolet pickup truck. We had an impact-we made a difference- and the goal was a nobel one.
I see the same forces of commerce, impudent political policies, and foreign nationalism coming together again for another swipe at our American way of life. We prevailed then, in the face of criticism and doubt, and we will prevail again here. This time the stakes are not just financial but our national security.

- I can put a human face on this project. I have a wealth of technical knowledge, mechanical skills, people training skills, and I bring excitement to the table.
This is the financial equivalent of "Buy Term and Invest the Difference". That marketing premise got the complacent American investor out of stodgy old cash value life insurance and into the stock market where their investments could work for THEM as opposed to working for others.
This project holds the same promise and has the same potential to do phenomenal things for the well being of this country.
We have long been told of the glorious heyday of the Manhattan Project and all the dark days surrounding that time leading up to the end of WW-II. Many (but not anyone under 45) remember the Earth shaking and historical moment when Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon (I was on a houseboat on Lake Houston) but the wonder of that event is now dimmed or overshadowed by the dearth of "BIG" accomplishments and we as a nation feel that maybe our best days are behinds us...BUT THEY ARE NOT!!! This project will do for us what we need it to do on a technical level (to provide us with our own energy) but it will steel us to the fact that we are a great country, not only because of our past, but rather, we are a great country because we have the stuff to lift ourselves off the floor and get on with the business of America.
I'll do what is NECESSARY to make the above statement a continuum of the story of the American people.

T. Boone says he is "commited", but is he DEDICATED?
Someone said they were confused about a term or meaning T. Boone mentioned on his recent appearance on the Smiley show. Maybe it is T. Boone who is confused. - I’m sorry if you received multiple e-mails telling you that you had a comment posted on your page. I couldn’t paste the URL showing Eaton’s hybrid ELECTRIC diesel truck so I sent you an e-mail. The hybrid electric can be a hybrid electric natural gas, etc. If the hybrid truck or car has an ICE it can be adapted. Volkswagen’s diesel car that gets 58 miles a gallon would be able to get more then 100 miles a gallon using a hybrid electric diesel - even more with a plug in application. EATON has developed a plug in hybrid electric diesel truck. They have HEAVY DUTY and light duty truck components. They are working with China developing a hybrid electric diesel BUS and truck.

You should be talking to EATON in reference to building NG hybrids for Heavy Duty Propulsion vehicles. There building up to 80,000 lb Heavy Duty Hybrid Propulsion vehicles primarily diesel. They are manufacturing for Peterbilt, Kenworth and others.

I have his attorneys e-mail addresses if you want. I am currently in contact with them and would be more than happy in helping to arrange a dialogue. I’ve made them aware of the Pickens Plan. EATON is doing well in this down economy primarily because of their hybrid technology. Their annual sales are in excess of 15 billion dollars. I am a retired EATON employee. A dialogue with you, EATON, and the Obama administration would help tremendously in cutting our dependence on Middle Eastern oil.

Eaton is building their version of the HEV primarily using diesel. – That’s OK. I don’t really give a damn what the ICE burns in the HEV as long as it burns less of it. I began designing the HEV in 1978 for all the reasons you know – embargos, etc - I could go on. I’ve noticed Mr. Pickens conversion from wind to NG. What do you expect he’s a good capitalist? Damn good at what he does too. Does it make any difference what rhetoric or reasons are used. I’m not a tree huger. I just want us to lesson our use of Middle Eastern oil.

I am an Electronic Technician Chief in the US Navy with 27 years service stationed overseas. I’m outlying an idea to assist and work with current plans for achieving energy independence. I urge you, as speaker of the house and the driving force to form the select committee on energy independence and global warming, consider for discussion and introduction into the house US Treasury Savings Bonds for Energy Independance.
In WWII America sold war bonds supporting the war effort. When young, my mother told me her primary school raised enough money through bonds to build a tank to support troops. I am impressed with the patriotism and purpose of our greatest generation that accomplished so much.
Selling energy bonds for RE (Renewable Energy) development would lower foreign oil imports and assist with the complex problem of funding. Bonds sold as “Energy S” could support new solar trough plants, “Energy W” to support wind farms, Energy “H” to support hydroelectric plants, Energy “T” to support RE transportation such as electric bullet train routes powered by RE, Energy "C" COOPS for small communities only needing a small quantity of turbines, and Energy “I” for needed infrastructure high voltage power lines to the RE site. Bonds will have the project name and include an artist’s perspective of the project and an American flag. President Obama had great success with the internet during his campaign. In a similar manner, using the internet, energy bonds could have a website listing current projects and an “electronic checkout” could purchase a bond $25 or higher. Simpler methods of payment such as “PAYPAL” and credit cards would be available and after an electronic purchase is complete a color print out of the bond is available with a follow up of the bond in the mail. The website would limit quantity of projects for each category until funding is complete. After a project becomes funded, a new project will be available. A tab on the site will show history and status of previous projects. Purchasers may take great pride in “collecting” and displaying bonds of various RE projects and participating at different levels of financial support. Solar trough plants in the multi-hundred MW size capacity with molten salt energy storage in California, Arizona, and West Texas can provide a major portion of electric needs. North Dakota has potential to support 1/3 of our nations electric needs in it’s class 4 wind zone areas. There are plenty of suitable proposed wind turbine farms now around the nation to significantly increase our RE if funded. Mid sized hydro-electric has not been used in America to it’s full potential. Following the example of our neighbor, Canada, it would provide a significant increase in percentage of electric production. Developing all three we could provide the majority of our electric and heating needs through renewable energy in a "New New Deal" fashion allowing natural gas for transportation as T. Boone Pickens is working for. Bullet train routes have proven a viable alternative to commercial domestic air service and when powered by electricity provided by RE suppliers America would be in the forefront of world technology. Example, I heard of discussion for a commuter train from Denver to Colorado Springs. Such a route built as a renewable energy project with charter requirement legally requiring to only purchase electricity from available renewable energy sources would be a model example. There are many train routes, city bus systems, and government vehicles that can be converted to run from alternative energy sources and fuels. Jobs created would bolster the economy, lower trade deficit, and strengthen national security. I would take great pride in print outs of bonds with graphics of each project I supported and many other Americans would also. The energy bonds could have tax breaks. BLM lands may be a viable place to start for some projects.
I contacted the US treasury department and was told that the marketing department for savings bonds closed several years ago. I was told there would be problems because savings bonds are at the federal level while the projects will be at the state and local level. I disagree and believe that these can easily be figured out in the way of grants to the state and local level using money from the bonds for those specific projects. I was told to check out auctions on the www.treasurydirect.gov website and found them to not apply to citizens wanting to buy savings bonds to support a cause such as energy independance. I was told by the treasury department to look into CREB (Clean Renewable Energy Bonds). I found CREB to be large scale funding that a citizen would not be able to participate in as a US Treasury Energy Independance Bond would provide. If given the tools to participate directly, the power of the citizens of the United States to help achieve energy independance could not be denied. Americans mean well and the Energy Independance Savings bond program will give citizens the power at their level to make it happen. If marketed through a web page, commercials, and to federal employees the word would get out and participation would spread like wildfire.
Mr. Paul Gipe, a resident of Bakersfield CA, an author of several books about wind energy, and recipient of multiple awards as a pioneer in the industry since the 1970's has put a letter I wrote to Senator Dorgan on this subject as well as an older letter I wrote on wind COOP in JAN07.
