Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
zip, just concerned about our future
What excites you about this campaign?
At least SOMEONE sees and is SAYING what is going on. As for myself, I have been preparing for the worst, as I see crime rates rising and people becoming desperate with these gas prices that can only rise.
My friends think I am a nut. I made them all watch "Crude Impact" and it made them mad, but also made them think
What do you want to do to help?
Whatever I can. I know I can get the ear of people around me. They are amused by my nuttiness!

Hey lisa, with your doomy gloomy projections, this might make you feel better....

You are not alone, and you are not a nut... just watch the membership on pickensplan grow by thousands each day.

Just 3 days ago the site had 12,000 fewer users.

In 3 days the membership of the site has grown by 20%.

Considering that if the site grows by half that much, (10% every 3 days) in 6 weeks (42 days) there will be 3.79 times as many people imvolved... thats 190,000 people

to break down the math...
6 weeks = 42 days
42/3=14
1.1 to the 14th power = 3.8
3.8x50,000 = 190,000

We can make a dent.

Lisa,

Funny, i put the thing about my band up there in my profile page betting nobody would notice.

We're pretty much done travelling till next spring (too busy in the recording studio... new album, finished in october!!!!) but we may get to indy nest year...

Anyway, as far as doom and gloom... Global warming and the environment seems to be the only thing we've ever screwed up as a nation that is not immediately reversible.

It looks to me like everything else can be fixed... the best we can hope for environmentally is to lessen the impact. Unfortunately, the impact of most of what we've done already hasnt yet been seen.

There's an old Chinese curse... "may you live in interesting times".... interesting indeed.

Anyway, the best we can do is to do what we can. Might as well do it.

Lisa,

You say you want to make your friends think.... about what? What if you could frame your "nuttiness" in a context of truth? ... things that everybody can do, ways we can all make a dent..... A dent in out energy bills, a small boost to our gas mileage...

I've been doing a bunch of amatuer research, and have found that there are a bunch of ways we can all reduce our energy use (and therefore oil consumption) on an individual level.

You want America to be energy independant? Its not just about building wind farms and solar farms and things like that... we can do alot on our own, right now, to simply reduce demand.

I wrote a little blog entry on the subject... If you have the time, check it out... http://push.pickensplan.com/forum/topic/show?id=2187034%3ATopic%3A193424 Drop me a line and let me know what you think.

I'm trying to talk to as many people as I can in order to continue to add to my list of ideas as far as how to conserve more in my daily life (and also share what I've learned)... I believe that while we build and invest in large-scale solutions, we can also do a bunch of little things in the meantime.

Thanks for listening.
