Hi Lyn! I see that you're in Yellville, as am I. If you're ever interested in setting something up to get the word out about this in our area, let me know! I'd be more than happy to help!
I did a wiki search on the EV-1 the other day to see what else there is to know and it led me to some other websites that talked about all the hybrid EV-1's and RAV4's (Toyota's you know) that were built at the same time but never sold to the public (the RAV4ev was however, and there are still some out there that are in use). Those hybrid EV-1's were getting anywhere from 80 to 100 mpg in tests! The hybrids were using gasoline, fuel cells, and high pressure LP for fuel as well as electricity. I say that to say this: we've got the vehicle technology right now to decrease and possibly eliminate our dependence on oil for vehicle use. GM is no friend to any of this. If they were, the would have been producing these vehicles all along for the sake of just doing the right thing.
Also, back in the early 90's (to go along with you corola story) I bought a new Geo Metro. That car consistently got 50 mpg. I drove it 1,000 a week for about two years on a long commute to finish my college, and I could do that one thousand miles on a $20 bill! It wasn't a hybrid either!
Like your two cents, Get this one in 1989 I bought a 1977 toyota corola (mind my spilling)with 106,000 on it for $400.00 cash drove it 150,000 more mile,s in 6 year replace one water pump and a starter thats it and it got 34-36 miles per gallion.. I been laughing at the hybyrds today 28 GM`s- 45..MPG toyota`s.. do you know where to get a 1977 toyota? and that 77 wasnt a hybyrd. lol
