Hi Lynn, I have been interested in energy sense 1980. It is hard to find people with both an interest and technical knowledge in energy. Does our group ever have meetings where we can get together?

Dave,
I'd like to hear more about your solar agenda. Do you have materials I could hand out? If this meeting is useful, I am sure there will be others. Thank you and have a great time in Disneyland and happy birthday to your son. I'll keep you posted,
All the best,
Lynn

Lynn,
Thank you for leading this group and setting up an "in person" meeting. I would love to attend and push my Utility scale solar agenda with the group. I think it is a very valuable component of the Picken's Plan. Unfortunately, Feb 8th coincides with a birthday trip to Disneyland with my son and family. I have a meeting with Rep. Jerry McNerney coming up to discuss Solar issues and the new Obama energy / stimulus package. He seems to be becoming a force for renewables in congress. I plan to bring up the Picken's plan and it's attributes. If you have key talking points that you'd like me to emphasize, please let me know.

Cheers,

Dave Shannahan

Hello Lynn!
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan.
Please bring 5 folks to join the site today, so that we can build a big enough voice that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interest, who will certainly try to derail this historic effort.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to think that we could be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not to get this done when we had the chance.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Write to your Congressman/woman. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan. Print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window.

A GROUP FOR EVERYONE
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, scientists, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.

PLEASE FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch. I do updates on new member numbers and will be helping with a petition drive soon.

Thanks again for joining us.

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I've been interested in energy policy since the early 1970's when I worked at Pacific Gas & Electric Compnay. One of my responsibilities as an HR Manager was the Conservation Program. At that time Califoria (and P.G.&E) was one of the most successful inplementers of conservation in the country. For example, we helped people insulate their homes, replace old appliances for more energy efficient ones and change useage habits. I also worked temporaily at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant. My experience tells me that we can regain energy independence and build a sustainable energy industry in the U.S. using all available of sources of energy.
What excites you about this campaign?
In the 70's and 80's I owned cars that got 40 mpg. What happened? The Pickens Plan aims at maintaining our incredible and wonderful lifesyle by making it possible for our cars, trains, trucks and buses and other transportation to run on available supplies of U.S. energy, while stopping the purchase of foriegn oil. I know this can be done fast with the focused use of money and a suffienct number of can-do people working on the problem,
