Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Member of CASE(Citizens Action for Sane Energy 1977-78). Our group helped to convince Public Service of Oklahoma that it was not economically feasible to build the Black Fox Nuclear Power Plant 30 miles east of Tulsa, OK. I have held my breath for the last 40 years waiting to get the money to be able to afford solar panels on my roof. I just last Monday had a Power-Save1200 installed at my breaker box to save 20% of my electricity. I have supported UCS, and EDF, and numerous other environmental organizations for many years. For 20 yewars I was a computer analyst and I worked for 5 different oil companies. I'm sick of them!
What excites you about this campaign?
This sounds like a beginning. It is not the final solution, but it is at least a plan that can be implemented right now! It will begin to get the dollars re-directed toward re-building this nation, its infrastructure and our moral standing in our own eyes first, and then in the eyes of the rest of the world. It's time we again began to stand on our own two feet instead of being dependent upon Chinese yen and Mid-Eastern oil! The USA needs to grow up and take care of itself first. There are other countries that need to shoulder some of the burdens of peace-keeping and nation-building and bringing up the standards of living of 3rd world countries. The people of America have shown that we are tired of being dictated to by big business. The rich have finally been given enough rope to hang themselves.
I want to get Missouri's government and the US Government to legislate loans, grants, rebates and/or subsidies to assist the people to install solar panels on their roofs, to install their own residential wind generators (www.power-save.com), insulate their homes, install in-line hot water heaters, start using electric bicycles ( see www.optibike.com), which cost $0.10 cents to charge and will take you 60 miles at 30 MPH and will flatten out steep hills. I've waited for so long for the country to wise up. Lincoln would be shocked that oilmen have been able to fool all of the people for so much of the time!
What do you want to do to help?
Write my congress people and spread the word to motivate the ignorant Republican supporters who think that "Drill, Baby, Drill" is the answer. We are just in the beginning of the huge paradym shift that must take place in order for us to preserve our planet for human habitation. I am one person, but I bring up this matter with everyone I talk to, in every way I can squeeze it into the conversation. I have limited income that must last me for the rest of my life (I hope for 30 years), but I can contact my congress people and help in other ways than money.

Welcome. We appreciate you setting up an active account.
After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and inviting others to the website when you're comfortable. The people here want to do something to foster energy independence and those you invite will find that joining us is the right thing to do.
Here are further steps you might consider, some of which you may have already taken.
- Sign up to lead or volunteer on the Local District page.
- Visit your My Energy page and get involved.
- Get involved with others in your City or State.
- Find and connect with a like-minded Group.
- Start or join a Campus/Alumni group at PickensU.
- Work your contacts to increase press coverage.
- Write to congressional representatives directly.
- Use Pickens Action buttons or call (202) 225-3121.
- Speak out for ending our dependence on foreign oil.
- Write letters to the editor of your local paper.
- Download flyers/etc from here or here.
- Download the Petition and ask others to sign it.
- Start a company to build wind turbines/solar panels.
- Start a financing firm to invest in those companies.
- Tell everyone you know about PickensPlan.com.
Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something.

"Welcome!" on behalf of the Pickens Community Welcome Wagon. Thank you for taking the time to join. In the past months the Community has made a great deal of progress and the U.S. Congress knows the Pickens Army is on the march.

We now have a Take Action link on the top of your screen under the PPlan Box at the top left side. Click and you will see a list of options that will automatically link you to your federal and state representatives and the Governor of your state.
The Pledge-Fax Your Statement!!
Please read and sign and fax to the number listed at the bottom of the Pledge page. If you could download the pledge and distribute and persuade others to sign, that would be a great help. The Community feels this is the best way to get the attention of state and federal lawmakers. Kim Anderson has other types of sign-up sheets.
Please tell friends to check out the site and read the Pledge.
The Communications Group created a great deal of information to read and to distribute within a member's local community. Please take your time to browse through the group's information.
The Videos link at the top of your Profile Page has videos that are a good source of information from people who are in the field working with alternative energy. The technical videos and amateur videos are varied, so paging back to page one might be the best way to browse. Or, if you would like, simply type key words in the search box.
