Gas from the combustion of wood and charcoal.
I started a study of wind velocities in Peru in more than a 100
remote areas.

General John Osborn here. I am your District FL-11 Leader for Pickens Plan. We need YOU more than ever. Our organization has evolved and your role has become very clear. Come to the Pickens Plan website and add yourself to my friend list and also the District Group. Make firm plans to attend our monthly meetings, you will see the Pickens Plan has had new life breathed into it. Bring a friend, we have plenty of seating. We are having a guest speaker Thursday September 10th at 7:30 PM…see Pickens Plan website for maps and additional information. (listed on both the District and Events tabs)
Under my leadership you can have a tangible role in the operation of the district. You will be meeting “Mark Sharpe” of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners at the September meeting. I assure you this will be interesting and informative.

Contact and "Friend" the New Energy Army Regional Leader for your state; you can find them to the right, in the Featured Members section. Let him/her know that I sent you there and you are interested in becoming an organizer.
THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY …to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.
PICKENS U We are recruiting "Campus Coordinators" for colleges and universities to represent the Pickens Plan on campus. We are looking for someone who can create a college page on the Pickens Plan site and also on Facebook encouraging folks to sign up for the Pickens Plan.
If you are connected to a college or university in your state, can be a campus coordinator, or can help find a campus coordinator, please let me know so we can get the process rolling.
PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not
1) increase our membership
2) influence public policy.
3) If you know someone who is in the press, or someone who blogs, get them to cover this and ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

Companies are stepping up their environmental initiatives, and that may mean a boom in "green-collar" jobs.
A recent forecast by the American Solar Energy Society found that renewable energy and energy-efficient industries were responsible for the creation of nearly 8.5 million jobs in 2006, and by 2030 that number is expected to reach 40 million.
Colleges and universities are taking notice, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas Inc., a job placement consulting group.
Many have introduced specialized degree programs in eco-commerce, environmental accounting, green and social marketing, and ecological economics.
"The demand for 'green-collar' jobs is really exploding, especially as the cost of energy continues to climb," said John Challenger, the group's chief executive. "Students need to start thinking about developing skills that will give them an edge for these types of careers that did not even exist until recently."
Popular jobs include urban planners, forestry professionals and environmental lawyers, Challenger said. There is also a growing demand for architects and engineers with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit.
