A no risk proven way to stimulate the right kind of economy

Here it is. A quick, easy, and sure fire way to get the economy going again with no corruption.
Suspend income taxes for three months. This will allow people to refinance their homes, buy new cars, convert their homes to solar energy, buy new televisions, etc. This will finally reward hardworking americans and promote small business growth. Once the spending begins the layoffs will stop and also create new jobs. The public will love this and the new president will be a hero without spending any… Continue

A good government investiment for the Pickens Plan

I just read an article in scientific American magazine. It shows new plans for a plasma propulsion jet engine. Would't it be great to build plasma engines for all of the airlines. Think of the barels of oil we would not use! This would have a profound improvement in the environment. I am going to study up on this a little further. This new design could use some funditng to validate and possibly imporve the design.

Public Buildings

Here is another question for all of you. How do we get our government to start installing solar panels on all of the public buildings? Think of how many there are, city, state, and federal. I think we should have a say to where some of this bailout money goes to. I have heard a lot of talk about energy but I have not heard one congressman recommend installing solar panels on our public buildings that are paid for with our tax dollars. This includes schools, libraires, parks, court house, jails,… Continue

Public Transportation

Okay all lets start figuring out how to replace all of our gas public transportation with electric vehicles. I can't stand driving behind a school bus that belches out black smelly exhaust. The same goes for city busses. I think that should be the first thing to attack.

I believe all public officials that use vehicles that are paid for with public tax should be converted to electric cars or alternative fuel.

We need to install electric chargers at the workplace for large employers.

There is a… Continue

Start today - it is so easy

If everyone would just start today, one item at a time. Did you know that you can buy a solar product that will keep your cell phone and your ipod charged? Well there is and it does not cost much at all. Look arround in the stores or on the internet it is all arround you just waiting for you to make the change. Help the environment and reduce foreign oil. Paying less for your electric bill is great. Eventually they could be paying you!

I bet my property alone could power most of my neighborhood… Continue

Hi Marcella, I have been pushing for the sell of US Treasury "Energy Independence Savings Bonds". Savings bonds are normally purchased in $25 increments. This gives a way for just about any American to tighten their belts just a bit by skipping a meal at McDonalds or Pizza Hut and buying a RE savings bond to support a renewable energy project and save money at the same time for themselves. I need help pushing this project, I've faxed and emailed many in Congress/Senate already.If you agree with this plan please consider passing to other people in your district as it will be a great tool to get funding for PickensPlan projects. This is a way to help and give tools to all of us for getting more RE projects started. I believe if just one fax could make it to the Presidents desk or Vice Presidents desk (fax numbers listed on web page of course) we may have a chance he may say “make it happen” to the US Secretary of Treasury. My email is ke6cvh@yahoo.com. Here is a copy of a fax sent to Nancy Pelosi yesterday:
27FEB09

Honorable Speaker of the House Congresswoman Pelosi,

I am an Electronic Technician Chief in the US Navy with 27 years service stationed overseas. I’m outlying an idea to assist and work with current plans for achieving energy independence. I urge you, as speaker of the house and the driving force to form the select committee on energy independence and global warming, consider for discussion and introduction into the house US Treasury Savings Bonds for Energy Independance.
In WWII America sold war bonds supporting the war effort. When young, my mother told me her primary school raised enough money through bonds to build a tank to support troops. I am impressed with the patriotism and purpose of our greatest generation that accomplished so much.

Selling energy bonds for RE (Renewable Energy) development would lower foreign oil imports and assist with the complex problem of funding. Bonds sold as “Energy S” could support new solar trough plants, “Energy W” to support wind farms, Energy “H” to support hydroelectric plants, Energy “T” to support RE transportation such as electric bullet train routes powered by RE, Energy "C" COOPS for small communities only needing a small quantity of turbines, and Energy “I” for needed infrastructure high voltage power lines to the RE site. Bonds will have the project name and include an artist’s perspective of the project and an American flag. President Obama had great success with the internet during his campaign. In a similar manner, using the internet, energy bonds could have a website listing current projects and an “electronic checkout” could purchase a bond $25 or higher. Simpler methods of payment such as “PAYPAL” and credit cards would be available and after an electronic purchase is complete a color print out of the bond is available with a follow up of the bond in the mail. The website would limit quantity of projects for each category until funding is complete. After a project becomes funded, a new project will be available. A tab on the site will show history and status of previous projects. Purchasers may take great pride in “collecting” and displaying bonds of various RE projects and participating at different levels of financial support. Solar trough plants in the multi-hundred MW size capacity with molten salt energy storage in California, Arizona, and West Texas can provide a major portion of electric needs. North Dakota has potential to support 1/3 of our nations electric needs in it’s class 4 wind zone areas. There are plenty of suitable proposed wind turbine farms now around the nation to significantly increase our RE if funded. Mid sized hydro-electric has not been used in America to it’s full potential. Following the example of our neighbor, Canada, it would provide a significant increase in percentage of electric production. Developing all three we could provide the majority of our electric and heating needs through renewable energy in a "New New Deal" fashion allowing natural gas for transportation as T. Boone Pickens is working for. Bullet train routes have proven a viable alternative to commercial domestic air service and when powered by electricity provided by RE suppliers America would be in the forefront of world technology. Example, I heard of discussion for a commuter train from Denver to Colorado Springs. Such a route built as a renewable energy project with charter requirement legally requiring to only purchase electricity from available renewable energy sources would be a model example. There are many train routes, city bus systems, and government vehicles that can be converted to run from alternative energy sources and fuels. Jobs created would bolster the economy, lower trade deficit, and strengthen national security. I would take great pride in print outs of bonds with graphics of each project I supported and many other Americans would also. The energy bonds could have tax breaks. BLM lands may be a viable place to start for some projects.

I contacted the US treasury department and was told that the marketing department for savings bonds closed several years ago. I was told there would be problems because savings bonds are at the federal level while the projects will be at the state and local level. I disagree and believe that these can easily be figured out in the way of grants to the state and local level using money from the bonds for those specific projects. I was told to check out auctions on the www.treasurydirect.gov website and found them to not apply to citizens wanting to buy savings bonds to support a cause such as energy independance. I was told by the treasury department to look into CREB (Clean Renewable Energy Bonds). I found CREB to be large scale funding that a citizen would not be able to participate in as a US Treasury Energy Independance Bond would provide. If given the tools to participate directly, the power of the citizens of the United States to help achieve energy independance could not be denied. Americans mean well and the Energy Independance Savings bond program will give citizens the power at their level to make it happen. If marketed through a web page, commercials, and to federal employees the word would get out and participation would spread like wildfire.

Mr. Paul Gipe, a resident of Bakersfield CA, an author of several books about wind energy, and recipient of multiple awards as a pioneer in the industry since the 1970's has put a letter I wrote to Senator Dorgan on this subject as well as an older letter I wrote on wind COOP in JAN07. Marcella.......Like you say, the economy is at a stand still and people are timid, hanging on to what they have. I think once confidence is back in America's mind, that will change. Also, with the right tax structure promoting solar and wind energy, I think that will make a huge difference. Implementation is key to this issue. Arizona of all places should be HUGE in solar feeding the grid!!! Not only are large scale projects necessary like those the Pickens promotes, success in the residential sector is a necessary component as well. I hear it said often.....where do we get the land to put in large scale solar??? Well, look at the roofs of the suburbia photos I sent to you...America has to buy into that critical mentality but heavily promoted by government. I say - 1 million homes in every state with solar feeding the grid - that should be our theme. If the U.S. or each state would implement a Feed-In tariff tax incentive, that goal could easily be reached. Arizona should have same kinds of potential as Florida. Here is one more shot of Germany. By the way, I am putting together a Power Point presentation regarding this very need. I will send a copy to you when it is complete and you could use it as an education tool if you agree with my premise.....I've included the first slide in the series. I hope to have the whole thing put together in a few weeks.
.......>>>Lee

As a business promoting solar and wind, take a look at the video on this website to get an idea of these tax incentives. This is a very educational interview:

Walt, Yes that is so very true. The capitalist system runs by what is good for business. That is where the citizens need to step in to decide what they want to purchase. The buyer rules and controls the market. We just need to make it easy for the consumer to purchase solar and wind products. That is why I signed up to sell products on my web page MyEnergyPlanner. It also includes phone numers for installers and general questions. I just wish that people were inclined to buy something. The economy is at at stand still. I believe it will break soon and the government will have a few good incentives. With all of that money you would think that they would get a few good investiments. If not just by mistake. I just hope that they find workers that know what they are doing so that it all works well and that it does not have to be re-worked.

Hi Marcella.........I totally agree with your comments, but I think that it is sad that we have to go into crisis mode to make "the right thing" happen. This whole scenario happened before when we were hit with the oil embargo in 1973. As soon as gas prices dropped, our society ignored the warning signs and went on with business as usual. Now with oil wars constantly looming on the horizon, we ignore the warning signs and go on with business as usual. Mid-east oil petrodictatorships (with lower gas prices) have duped us once again and American's don't see the pressing need for energy conservation, greater energy efficiency, renewable energy implementation, higher transportation fuel standards, and a fix for our huge carbon footprint causing global warming. In other words, we do not have a group mentality with a social consciousness to do the right thing for the world. We do not implement until we reach crisis stage. Take a look at the disaster over fixing the damage of Katrina as a good example. In other words, we have no national plan to deal with an energy crisis. I ask a simple question here - Why should we pay 700 billion dollars annually to purchase foreign oil from petrodictatorships that turn those dollars around to fund the war against us??? We are our own worst enemy!!! Why shouldn't we get ready now for the crisis that is coming instead of waiting for the very moment it happens? To me, it is sad!!! Marcella, I will be ready........I have solar hot water and solar heat, I am installing a new heat pump + high efficiency gas furnace in March. I have two Danish wood burners (Jotul and Morso) for primary heat. I have a fast moving stream on my property next to my home for mini-hydro (I am waiting for our utility to implement a feed-in tax [REP] incentive before I implement). By summer, I hope to have my carbon footprint next to nothing.

I will not disagree with you that we have helped other nations beyond measure, but we now need to be concerned about ourselves and our national survival and our security or we will not be able to help other nations if we cannot help ourselves! We are just now starting to go into crisis mode!

This is Germany - They have a "Plan"

This is America - We have NO "Plan"

If you have the time, read the book by Edwin Black - "The Plan : How to Rescue Society When the Oil Stops"

Hi Marcella......Thanks for the nice note. Yes, at one time, we were the most productive society on Earth, but with the constant outsourcing, we are losing that edge. Still, China has 3 billion people and India has 1.8 billion people. We have a mere 304 million.....a small number by comparison. China uses 6% imported oil while India uses 3% foreign oil......low numbers compared to our 25%!!! With all the gas guzzlers and big cars, we have become "oil junkies" and that is why we face the problems we have today. "Peak Oil" is a key issue here. And, the problems was starting to be fixed during the Carter administration with his initiatives regarding energy......A policy was put in place. That is when I installed my solar panels.

Have you read the Thom Hartmann's bestselling book on peak oil which is titled "The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight", published by Random House/Three Rivers Press? www.thomhartmann.com/commondreams.shtml

In it he has many quotes of President Carter's warnings. Here is just one of them:

""We simply must balance our demand for energy with our rapidly shrinking resources. By acting now, we can control our future instead of letting the future control us." Carter bluntly pointed out that: "The most important thing about these proposals is that the alternative may be a national catastrophe. Further delay can affect our strength and our power as a nation." He called the new energy policy he was proposing, "The 'moral equivalent of war' -- except that we will be uniting our efforts to build and not destroy."

For more of this article written in 2005, see: http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0503-22.htm This is an excellent article that summarizes many of the topics in his book and it is well worth reading. See what you think.

Hello Marcella…..Thank you for joining and leaving me a comment! I have just added you as a friend. In October, I returned from a 3-week trip to Denmark and Germany and continue to be amazed by the efforts of these countries with the addition of Spain to initiate huge programs in alternative energy and create solutions for their countries. Germany and Denmark are at the 20+ % of electricity being generated by wind. Spain is above 40% of its electricity being produced by wind. There is much written on the Internet about these efforts and incentives to homeowners, farmers and business people as well. We have been kept in the dark for so long about what others are doing to solve their energy needs, cut their carbon footprint and reduce global warming. America is only 5% of the world’s population but we use 25% of the world’s oil. There is something fundamentally wrong with that equation! We need to change our mindset and the mindset of our legislators to choose the right path for the future of America and our dependency on foreign oil. Check out the photos from Germany, Denmark and Spain on my Pickens Plan Page. Like you, I have a solar hot water system. I installed it in 1981 and have only had 1 failure of a Taco pump (replaced last August). We both certainly know the benefits it brings!!! Your help is greatly appreciated and needed……Again, thanks…..>> Lee Ewald
P.S. Google Samso, Denmark and Freiburg, Germany (The Solar Village) to see 2 great examples of what is being done in Europe. I am currently reading the book "The Plan" by Edwin Black.....Have you read it???

Welcome and MMMMerry- Merry!
We are a voluntary community of individuals who are placing our combined support behind T. Boone Pickens and his efforts to send our government a clear (heard) message that we must reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil through the use of all domestic energy alternatives. This site is a place to interact with fellow Pickens Plan supporters, keep up with events and opportunities to help get more involvement.
For those of you that have already jumped in and have made contact with your local leader- thanks.

Please, I ask the first sites you visit to get accurate info and articles to see pretty much what the plan is about and where the plan stands, and please come back to these sites often as changes take place regularily. Some are long, please; take the time to get all the details.
On the home page, click on About The Plan ~ Boone Cam ~ Blog
Our future is focus 1- at this point in time! If not now, When? If not you, WHO?
~~~~~~to quote, Earl Scharff, from RI,~~~~~~~
~~~~~"FOR INFLUENCE, YOU NEED NUMBERS!"~~~~~

Mr. Obama has voiced that eliminating the dependence of foreign oil is a top priority.
[Click here], to enter your zip code and be paired up with members in your area. If you want to be a leader for your area, you can also sign up on that page. If you would rather wait on a leader role, that’s ok we need helpers. An organization cannot be all chiefs.
There is a group for almost everything. The Forums/discussions on this site are many and you’ll probably find something that interests or concerns you. Some are very long and were started months ago. For the ones that concern you, please keep in mind, events are remembered and relayed differently by those commenting, which as we all too well know equals at least three sides to the event.
After you have read the sites I mentioned, if you need anything else to help you, while you help the push, please stop by. I am proud to put my efforts towards this cause.

This is an easy first task I ask of you-
~~~~~~~PLEASE TAKE A PETITION TO WORK TODAY!~~~~~~
I am asking everyone to please take petitions to school or work or wherever you are going today! Everyone wants to get off of foreign oil; we just need to gather their names. WE CAN DO THIS, with everyone’s help. [Click here] for the Petition, then copy or print 4 or 5 and ask everyone to help, better everyone's future.
Again, Welcome; Tom- Welcome wagon crew!
