THE GREAT SO CALLED DEBATE
The editor called me few hours before the debate of the Republican candidates was about to start. He wanted me to cover the event and – more important – to write a full critique and describe the dynamics and style of the meeting.
I only had one recourse. I could not reach New Hampshire in time, even if I could use my Falcon Executive Jet, so I recurred to a unique solution, unbelievable to most, that saves me in critical situations. I asked someone whose personality I admire, respect and listen to, to give me a hand and even attend the meeting so as to extract the substance and tone of the famous debate. As usual I had to remind him to dress according to the situation; he is quite fond of the loose clothes he wears and his worn sandals.
He did not waste words that evening when he finally showed up at my yacht moored in Cancun. His first words returned my emotional state of mind, somewhat shaky, to a normal state.
“You did not miss much, dear. It was a Down with Obama topic and a weak and almost childish exposition of the matters discussed. It was a sad spectacle. With few exceptions, no subject was discussed in real and transcendental tones. They brought out a number of current government programs or situations and analyzed them in their own terms, clearly showing supposed failures of the President to deal with them effectively. Their personalities, seven of them, did not clash as they did not shine from any angle. You did not miss much and I have the report written and already in your computer!”
I did not know how to thank him. He has given me a hand so many times that I conclude that he enjoys those sudden calls I make and also the nature of the matters to face, solve, examine or live. Why not? He had lived similar situations and developed his own peculiar analysis and, just as important, his incredible correct and moral conclusions!
“Thank you. Now, sit down and let me feed you a healthy slice of the Apple Pie I got this afternoon at Armando’s.”
He smiled and nodded. It is always a pleasure to see and listen to Jesus Christ!
The location of the Pretoria Hilton is unique. On one side you have the interminable plains of the southern savannah, on the other the majestic range of the Transvaal and all around it,…

“Mitt, I still do not understand why you insist on trying to become elected president of this great nation. I know it is not money, then what?”
He smiled and replied:
“You have not changed. You still miss the substance, the nerve, the foundation of current political thought. My greatest concern in…

Smile,please
I am certain that God invented the first smile on
planet earth. After toiling for several days in
gathering cosmic dust, rocks, sands and a bit of
burning lava that he had picked up in his last
tour of this part of the universe, he flung this
shapeless chunk of stuff around the big furnace
in the firmament. There was some interplay
between momentum, gravitational attraction,
intergalactic dust drag,…

Recent disclosures about serious abuses of power committed by members of our government and also by prominent members of our comfortable business class has everyone confused, except those who lost their savings, their pension plans, shares, mortgages, inheritances, options, bonuses and other forms of legitimate avarice. They are simply pissed.
Now, how did this thing happen? You get all kind of versions. Executives blame each other on alternate days; the…

The Professor looked at me and with a smile said;
“Dear friend, one of these days one of those lovely ladies you fly incessantly to ski slopes, tropical islands and remote Mediterranean villages, is going to conquer your heart and in no time at all will have you at the altar and on your way to domestic bliss!”
“What have I done to you, Professor, to wish marriage upon me, or upon some innocent lovely that would be forced to share my…
