The Case For Natural Gas Vehicles @ UVM.

The Case For Natural Gas Vehicles @ UVM was great. There was a very strong compelling case made for NGV technologies & filling stations in Vermont. The Pickens Plan was there, and is in line with this U.S. conversion to use CNG, Wind & Solar to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. H.R. 1835. Join us Burlington Vermont & Beyond.

Wind Alternative to Vermont Yankee?

Wind Alternative to Vermont Yankee?
Burlington, Vermont - March 22, 2009
wcax.com

The Vermont legislature will decide whether or not to renew the license for the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant -- but not until next year. In the meantime, the state's largest utilities are looking for alternatives, including wind power, as a potential replacement if the decision on Vermont Yankee is no.

Green Mountain Power Corporation has been interested in wind for several years, beginning with an array o… Continue

Vermont's Air National Guard is planning to build the state's largest solar energy project.

South Burlington, Vermont - March 2, 2009

Vermont's Air National Guard is planning to build the state's largest solar energy project.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, announced a $5 million appropriation from the Department of Defense.

Planning on the project has just begun, but guard officials said construction could begin next spring and be producing energy by the end of 2010.

Sanders said it will help the base cut its dependence on foreign oil and cut its electricity bills by 20 percent.… Continue

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Our seventh grade class back in 1982-83 made a solar powered parabolic dish to cook with, and made a natural gravity fed solar hot water heater system, (Colchester Middle School, Colchester, VT, USA). We can do this!
What excites you about this campaign?
The fact that it is actually doing something about our energy independence. It has been thirty plus years in the making.
What do you want to do to help?
First I would like to say nice to meet you, Mr. T Boone Pickens. My name is Mark Shand owner of INFOTEC Svs, a small onsite computer support and repair business. I would be willing to volunteer my services to help your cause in any way possible way up here in the far northeast reaches of New England and Vermont. Maybe Mr. Pickens you can help me, and I'm sure many others in my region with a liveable wage and gainful high tech employment. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you in the future Mr. Pickens.
Respectfully,
Mark Shand

Thanks Mark,

In the area of NY, VT and New England, it seems to be blacked out....its too large an area for clouds, and besides those satellites should be able to see through that.

I certainly will Mark. BTW, I'll be away a bit. My father in law has terminal cancer. My wife and I have been traveling from here in Colchester to Binghamton NY nearly weekly since Christmas. She's now staying there to care for her father. This weekend when I told Al I was headed back yesterday, he asked me not to go. We are refinancing our home while interest rates are low. The appraisal is Tuesday. I told him I'd return Tuesday and be there as long as he needed me. He's going fast, and we're all hoping it won't be long as he is clearly suffering.

As you have been doing, if there are items you see needing posting or doing, please go ahead. I'd like for us to meet when I get back, to plan further strategy. There are a number of initiatives I'd like to kick off, particularly with the legislature and UVM, but have been distracted.

Too bad we had the snow storm late January, I think you would have appreciated the differences in Senatorial staff.

FYI. It was pointed out that in the sat picture the northeast is blacked out. Interesting.....

Jim
