Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Aside from being an advocate and practitioner of general conservation methods, I have very little experience.
What excites you about this campaign?
Too often I hear those with power saying great things with hollow words. Pickens has a goal that I believe in, and the bank roll to back it up.
What do you want to do to help?
Anything I can. We have the sun, wind, and geothermal giving us a constant source of clean energy, but due to cost and convenience prefer oil and coal. The people in this country are what make it great, but need to be educated. The leaders in this country are what need to educate the people.

Mark,

Thanks for your reply. At this point in this project, the best efforts should be to email everyone you know locally as well as sending emails to local political leaders to encourage them to also participate in an Earth Day event like ours and to join us here with their support and membership. In order for a Earth Day event to take place this year, we will have to gain enough interest first. Considering the response so far, I realistically believe that next year's 40th anniversary may be the best for timing of this Earth Day project locally.
Basically, it is up to us to educate our fellow citizens and leaders to turn around our country. We appreciate everyone's efforts to do what they can and those who step forward now, most certainly will find personal and public rewards for their efforts.

If you would like to participate in a Central Florida Earth Day Event contact us!!!
It will take some great volunteers and planning to bring off this event. So, How about a Earth Day event? The FL-24th Congressional District is seeking like minded volunteers to create a conference right here in Central Florida as an Earth Day Event, April 22nd. Not only would this be a great PR opportunity for Pickens Plan locally, but it also would be a great chance for adjoining Districts to work together. Come join with us in seeing this become a successful green energy event as well. The event is in it's planning stages and invites volunteers, businesses who would like to participate and Pickens Plan members to also join the FL-24 group. An article was posted on Topix.com at this link!! Basically, what we are attempting to do is to seek out our Federal, State and Local representatives and political leaders to join the Pickens Plan, speak publicly in support of alternative energy leading to a greater public understanding and education of the value a greener environment will be for us all. We also are seeking the sponsorship by area businesses who have a interest in a greater green public perception through this event.
Besides that, we encourage Districts all across the country to join together with your neighbors and set up Earth Day events just like we are. Anyone who would like to participate or has specific knowledge and ability in such an event undertaking, please contact the FL-24 group on what you would like to do in support of this event or to just participate by contacting business sponsors and political speakers. We can use your expertise, guidance and warm bodies too. All will be appreciated, as you know it is for a great cause. Thank you in advance. The Earth Day site has alot of information on organizing that we all could draw from and use just like the Topix article explains.

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. Here is how you can help.

Go to the MY ENERGY page. Register and make your voice count.

EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES BY USING OUR EASY RED "CONTACT CONGRESS" BUTTON - - With little effort, we have the ability here for you to send a letter to President Obama, our Representatives in Washington and your Governor, too.

Go to THE PLEDGE
Lend your voice to the call for American energy independence Fill in the short, standard form. Done!

YOU CAN ALSO HELP BY BRINGING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN the site today, so that we can build a voice big enough that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who are trying to derail this historic effort.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE PLEDGE on the Main page. Print out 10 or more of them, get them signed and fax them back to Boone ASAP. This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a leader, be a part of the "100 CLUB", by faxing in 100 signed pledges. Let me know when you are done and I will see that you are added to the list.

If you answered "YES" to Interested in becoming an organizer, there are several things I can recommend. Join the following Groups:
Organizers & Leaders
Online Action Army
Guides & Materials for New Members

On the upper right corner of Your Page, click on "States" to visit the Push Pickens Community for your state.

Contact and "Friend" the New Energy Army Regional Leader for your state; you can find them to the right, in the Featured Members section. Let him/her know that I sent you there and you are interested in becoming an organizer.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY …to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

PICKENS U We are recruiting "Campus Coordinators" for colleges and universities to represent the Pickens Plan on campus. We are looking for someone who can create a college page on the Pickens Plan site and also on Facebook encouraging folks to sign up for the Pickens Plan.
If you are connected to a college or university in your state, can be a campus coordinator, or can help find a campus coordinator, please let me know so we can get the process rolling.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not
1) Increase our membership
2) Influence public policy.
3) If you know someone who is in the press, or someone who blogs, get them to cover this and ask those in the public eye to support this plan.
