I "googled" ...Tidal Energy Generators...and left a question, "why not make electricity firom tidal "in and "out" flows, at small estuaries in NorthernLlatitudes. I'll lrt you know what they say... there are test underway in Ireland and Scotland.
I have four solar systems, but New Mexico is ideal for that.......clean, free, forever.............When you live with it you think about it....The answer is right in front of our noses.
I can understand the gas fields being depleted around Kenai...It's been 40 years since I worked there.
Tidal generators are the same,,,,,,,clean, free, forever.
I use to work out in the Cook Inlet near Kenai (JC Marthens jackup drill rig), and remebered the huge tidal changes up there. I remember many inlets that could possibly harnessed for hydro power.
Has anyone up there studied the potential for hydroelectric resources around Anchorage? I will look around the internet for tidal hydroelectric and see if anything is happening, and get back to you.
Hi Mark!
Looking at your profile I noticed your not sure what to organize. Same here. Right now I'm trying to learn my way around this website!
I read your piece on (ETT) and how important transportation is and that's more of a challenge in Alaska for sure.It would seem that to be able to expand our transportation system in state we need a steady and secure fuel supply,CNG!I feel that Nation wide,if we can continue to put pressure on the Big Oil Producers by reducing our demand for refined gasoline and diesel, which we have been doing by driving less, the advantage goes to us, the driving public and home owner's,renters etc. I also think it's important that people realize that oil, gasoline, heating fuel, anything petroleum will not be going away anytime soon, but at the same time by going to CNG will start us towards a more energy secure future.I like the Idea of an ETT transport system and perhaps our Country and Alaska will see one in the next ten to twenty years, but in the meantime we have to stay focused on what we can achieve now,in the next eight to ten years and I think the Pickens Plan can help achieve that! Anyway! Gotta Run for now. Talk to ya later Mark!
Mark,
TRANSPORTATION is the master key to basic survival, and the cornerstone of the economy. We all know that transportation presently depends on oil production, and oil production is peaking. We must focus first on transportation – it is the highest priority. The PickensPlan to transition vehicles to natural gas is a great start toward 100% energy independence, but is a stop-gap measure till we can transition to all electric transportation. Electric energy is strained without adding transportation demands; so we must drastically improve efficiency .
Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT) is a patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”); ETT can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh (or carbon credit) than electric cars or trains. ETT is silent, low cost, safe, faster than jets, and is electric so it can make maximum use of wind or PV power. I invite you to visit my page to learn more about ETT
Tesla is the closest I have seen to a true electric. But Obsticles remain. Thanks you though for joining us. I have researched most of the companies around. That one had alot of funding. Which is why they are in front of everyone else.

I remember working on some deep gas wells down at Kenai Gas Field in the 60's. We hit a big gas zone at about 10,00 feet depth (a good zone).
They built a fertilizer plant in Kenai, and wonder if any natual gas is getting to Anchorage and Wasilla from Kenai.
