Bob, I agree with your sentiment, but changing the rules is the only wayto go. I know Jim Youngkin and his views on the subject, in fact, he got his start on my web site, www.cngchat.com. Many states will not pass you at the mandatory smog inspect...
Hello this a FuelMaker C3 a older one with all the updating works fine.
After reading Jims wedsite http://younkincng.com/
I think we just need to buld them and deal with the EPA after would.

Bii-fuel conversions could make us energy independent from OPEC withing 5 years for only about 1/2 of the amount of money that has been given to AIG. Considering what we have spent in Iraq and will spend on this recession, a $100 Billion investmen...
Hello I am showing my CNG Bettle an a New 2002 VW Jetta 1.8L turbo at the http://www.altwheels.org/index.html

Hello Mark I found a few Galileo kits on Ebay for cheap.
and a few tanks too. This is all you need to start you on the path.
To showing this plan of your works it works for me.
you should read Jims infomation http://younkincng.com/

Mark, Honda has historically built about 1,000 units per year for the past few years. The spike in oil prices pushed production to about 1500 units in 2008. Honda had targeted 2000 units, but the bottom fell out of the oil barrel and prices went through the floor for gasoline. I believe the number ended up at 1500. July was a record month for GX sales, but nearly all were fleet sales. Continuing low(er) oil prices have combined with the recession to slow retail sales.
Too bad you don't live in the Los Angeles area. I have a used on with 23,000 miles on it I could make you a smoking deal on. I still have about 8 2008's in stock and they should last me through the model year.
Visit my web site at www.cngchat.com to learn more about the GX, or my other site www.cngprices to learn about the availability of cng infrastructure in your area.
As far as limited space for CNG pressure tanks go, my Solo vehicle is lacking available locations to get much range. When I was involved with the Natural Vehicle Coalition, I talked to Thiokol about their then-current "conformable tank" R&D program, the idea being to make pressure tanks that could markedly better utilize available volumes. My project stalled for a variety of reasons and I haven't stayed current with all the developments, but Thiokol seemed to think it was quite do-able, and I agree. ENGWER
I am all over helping create economic opportunity in DFW by using brains and creativity and collaboration. Keep me in the loop on CNG conversions or whatever.
It just has to make fundamental economic sense right now.
There are just a host of challenges with CNG in DFW.
Who has a fairly definitive list?

I'm sorry, I've not had time to follow Fuelmaker's plight for the last few weeks. I moderate a Fuelmaker/Phill group, or did, and had offered to help reverse-engineer the Phill and circumvent any troublesome patents, with the idea of bringing an alternative machine to market and I had little response. I'm very interested in trying to move CNG forward as a mainstream vehicle fuel. Please communicate with me directly ...engwer1074@comcast.net. I'm very busy but I'll be checking e-mail every few days. I really like the "first 50" idea. This is the first I've heard of anything like it. Is this your original idea? WCEngwer
One of the benefits of HR1835 is it will give incentives to manufacturers to produce dedicated AND Bifuel CNG vehicles since many areas don't have the infrastructure to support dedicated vehicles.
Many people will not by unless they can get bifuel.
Thats why we need to help push this bill through - The Nat Gas Act of 2009!

I do hope that bi-fuel vehicles become available soon for consumer and not just for fleet sales. Consumers only have the choice of second hand bi-fuel vehicles currently
Our newest the 04 Chev Silverado LS extended cab, we purchased new from GM, it is bi-fuel and very sweet! We usually use this truck for out of town work because we can go out on CNg and come back on unleaded and its range will get us anywhere in Arizona and back without filling up along the way. We wish GM still made these because it is seamless and the factory models do seem to be more reliable.
Our other 3 vehicles we picked up used- dedicated factory 98 Ford F-250, factory bifuel 03 Chev Cavalier and 2000 bifuel suburban conversion.
New conversions are too expensive in Arizona, there is nothing to help offset the cost here. So most people now are buying used vehicles or new Honda's.

Hello Mark the size of the CNG tank is up to the ouner. The beetle trunk was small to start with for the Home Fueling Stations there are two setups one that pumps 3000 or 3600psi the more pressure the more miles.
the tank must be DOT CERT any ways. The tanks are very safe now.
I got this Email it is a start
Tune in to American Chopper on TLC, Thursday, June 25, at 9/8c to watch the crew from Orange County Choppers (OCC) build the world's first natural gas-powered chopper. Built to show America the promise of natural gas as a clean energy resource, and in conjunction with Chesapeake Energy's 20th anniversary, the talented crew from the hit TV show American Chopper partnered with the company to build a natural gas-powered bike. The episode covers the bike's production process as Paul Sr. and crew visit a drilling rig and learn how natural gas can power everything form a semitruck to a custom chopper.

Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I joined this energy independence movement because it is vital to our economic and national security. World oil production peaked in 2005. Oil is getting harder to find and more expensive to produce. This sets a price floor that can only go upward as a growing middle class in India and China will continue to demand more oil.
OPEC, BigOil and Wall Street's manipulation of energy prices collapsed household disposable income which plummeted our economy into this severe recession. It didn't help that we also had oilmen for President and VP. We need to become energy independent because fighting wars in other countries to safeguard oil supplies is no longer a viable plan as emerging enemies become more militarily empowered.
Bi-Fuel CNG/ Gasoline Vehicles are an immediate practical alternative fuel option which will require no compromise to your normal driving range; no special technology, batteries or no multi-billion CNG refueling infrastructure to be feasible. I have thoroughly researched the hydrogen fuel cell cars, electric vehicles, hybrids and dedicated CNG cars. These options face the following challenges: purchase price, recharging on-the-go, limited travel range and refueling challenges for "dedicated" CNG vehicles.
ECONOMIC RECOVERY ........
Until we replace 25% of our energy needs, our economic stability, recovery and future growth we will be at the mercy of petroleum exporting countries and our own refining cartel (Exxon,Chevron, Shell, BP and Conoco) who will intentionally cut gasoline production to support gasoline prices higher - even when we reduce our consumption.
CNG-First50
This is a strategy based on a standard combustion engine burning CNG for the First50 miles of daily driving. This will replace the car's average daily mileage of 42 miles/day = 15,000 miles/ year not burning gasoline.
Here is why First50 will work:
- National Average commuter drives 42 miles/day = 15,000 miles / year
- First50 eliminates 100% of the car's avg. daily gasoline usage
- Nationally, this plan can eliminate 25% to 50% of gasoline consumption
- A national pipeline distribution network already exists for natural gas
- Natural gas burns cleaner than gasoline
- Refueling at home eliminates need for national CNG refueling stations
- A 5 litre ( 3 gal/gas/equivalent) CNG tank requires minimal trunk area
- Standard range gasoline tank ensures you will not get stranded on long trips
What excites you about this campaign?
Mr. Pickens inspires me. He is using his vision, wisdom and experience to start a economic/political movement to show America how natural gas is the "bridge" to energy independence.
What do you want to do to help?
I want to recruit you to use your voice to be part of energy independence.
