Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
We lobbied the Mt. legislature for money to start alternative energy projects in the 1970's. We made solar panels to heat hot water in a sheltered workshop I developed, along with making storm windows for the elderly and low income to conserve energy.
What excites you about this campaign?
That anything is being done! I don't think it goes far enough, this is a massive project, but small projects will do more and are cheaper to start. If the government just made enough seed money available. I believe that every sewer system should make methane gas and reclaim all the possible minerals instead of sending them into rivers. This would spread the wealth, be cheaper to start, and better for the environment. The New Yorker times article " Sewage Plant Alchemy: Foul Gases Into Energy in the New York Times" tells about this possibility. Depending on just one source of alternative energy, no matter how good an idea, will not solve the problem as much as using every source possible. Also using sewage plants will spread the jobs around and help revitalize our small and medium size towns.
What do you want to do to help?
I don't have a lot of time, and less energy than time, but I would be willing to blog about it, and join the local Utah group.

POOP MAKES GAS!

Getting energy from wind is a great idea, but it doesn't go far enough. We should be using the groups being developed to see that every thing possible is being done to make energy, and being done on a local level to spread the wealth, and jobs around. Mammouth wind farms will make a difference, but not as much as using every source possible to get energy. Every small community in this country has a number of options to utilize for energy, let's empower them with incentives too.

Hi Marlene,
I like the way you think, and that's one thing needed... innovative, free thinkers talking to others. Then we become a community of thinkers and listeners. It takes practice to become a good listener, so I am listening and learning.
