Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have my roots of interest in it since high school, however it hasn't sprouted until the past couple years. I'm in the process of taking courses in solar hot water, and photovoltaic installation. If we're going to ramp our renewable energy production, we're going to need a lot of people trained to do this.
What excites you about this campaign?
The push for wind power first of all. Secondly, keeping our money here in america. We're going to need resources to convert us over to a sustainable energy society, and if we loose too much of it overseas, we won't have the money to buy solar panels, windmills, etc and we'll be up a creek without a paddle. This is as much a national security issue as it is an energy and an environmental issue.
What do you want to do to help?
I've been writing to all my senators, congress(people), state senators, etc... (I think what people need to realize is that all the little people in the state houses collectively have more power than the president- get involved locally!) Other than this, I'm not sure what else I can do- I'm open to ideas!

Matt, An additional note I am a AE student as well having renewed my 30 year old interest. The Mother Earth News used to push AE 30-40 years ago...we were too lazy to listen...though the house I used to have was built to be very AE sustainable.
Spent a couple of days in the White Mountain region in NH very nice area.

Matt, read your 8/24 comments...good thoughtful thinking, which seems to be lacking in many instances. I would like to point out that the transmission lines already exist they move our energy about the country. We only need to provide the short transmission lines between the wind or solar farms and then interface witht the existing lines. I also like your ideas of local or individual residence wind or solar energy. I am checking with our condo assoation to see what they will allow...I expect little. However conservation needs to be strongly encouraged. I switched to CFL lightbulbs and dropped 11% off the montly electric. Also dropped the water heater temp down and saved $30 per month. Not only is there a savings of $60 a month on utilities but we dropped our energy usage...If only the rest of the country would join in the conservation plan. Think of what it would do if the country could save 10-15 % of energy every month. It would go a long way to eliminating the oil addiction. All the best. Capt Tom

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. We need your help.

The stars have aligned to create the possibility of a paradigm shift that is and has been urgently needed. We have an angry citizenry due to pain at the pump, a presidential election on the horizon, and a man with a plan to dramatically and imminently reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and provide a bridge to future solutions, who has the resources, contacts, knowledge, wealth and "will" to get it done.

Please share this plan with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. As you know, it is simply like signing a petition. With large numbers of supporters, we can put pressure to bear on Congress to incentivize alternative and renewable energies, and insure that our future president will be a leader that will push for domestic energy solutions. JFK once said. "in the next 10 years we will put a man on the moon". He got it done. We need that kind of leadership on energy.

Time is of the essence. If gas prices retreat the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not get this done when we had the chance.

Please friend me if you like.

If you know someone in the press- get them to cover this.
If you know someone who blogs- get them to cover this.
If you can write to a Congressman/woman- get them to understand this. You can call them at (202)225-3121. Ask them if they support 100% clean electricity in the next 10 years.
If you know someone who is in the public eye- ask them to support this.
If you can write a letter to the editor of your local paper- please do.
If you want to print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window- please do.

Best,
Kim
